You can also use pasta shapes that help hold the rich, creamy vegan alfredo sauce in. Pastas such as fusilli and rotini could work.

Whole Foods Rosa Alfredo $469 For 145 Ounces

Alfredo sauce is a bit of an outlier on this decently plant-based list, but Im not complaining. Whole Foods just launched a line of their own signature jarred Alfredo sauces including marinated garlic, tomato, and pesto flavors. I boiled up some Banza penne and paired it with the Rosa Alfredo and I dont think I ever need to buy another kind of jarred pasta sauce again. Compliments to the chef oh wait, thats me.

My mom used to make the best quick and easy dinners, and the busier life gets the more I find myself recreating them! A forever favorite of my brother and I was pasta mixed with a jarred Alfredo sauce, chopped chicken, and broccoli. So simple but so comforting and good!

Why Vegan Alfredo Is Better Than Traditional

Traditional garlic alfredo sauce has butter, milk, cream, parmesan cheese and garlic in it. Major dairy overload! Bloated, icky feeling. It also does nothave onion in it. However, I wanted to give my alfredo sauce that slightly, sweet richness typically reached by cream and butter, so I added cooked onions, lots of them.

Heres a little side by side nutrition for my alfredo sauce in comparison to Olive Gardens version:

Mine per 1/2 cup serving which is a hefty serving:

    125.2 calories, 7 g fat, 5.6 g protein, 11.3 carbs

    and Olive Gardens:

    460 calories, 43 g fat!!, 9 carbs, 8 grams protein

Wow, what a difference! Hey, so it has a hair less carbs, but who cares when all of my ingredients are quality ingredients and not heavy on the heart. Nothing wrong with indulging occasionally, but you could eat my alfredo sauce weekly with much less guilt.

The Simplest Of Ingredients Seriously Make The Most Amazing Food

Amazingly enough, you really dont need that mile long list of ingredients that the store bought Alfredo sauce has! Next time you are at the store, take a look! You will be floored! A little butter and garlic, something to thicken up the milk a bit and you are in Alfredo heaven.

Traditional Alfredo sauce is made with milk or cream, butter, and garlic. We tolerate raw dairy in our house well, however I find myself making Alfredo sauce with coconut milk more than our raw milk. Our raw milk share is lower during the winter months when the cows dont make as much milk. We dont have as much on hand, and I like to save the raw milk for drinking instead of cooking off all of the raw properties. If you have access to a lot of quality milk and cream in the winter, or it is spring and summer for you and the milk is abundantly flowing, definitely give the milk a try! It is simply amazing!

Does It Really Taste Like Alfredo

I know what you are thinking.does it really taste like garlic alfredo sauce?? Well, my hubby said, spot on and then it really tastes exactly like garlic alfredo sauce. I was shocked. Ill let you be the judge. Id say it is pretty darn close, especially considering it doesnt have any of the typical ingredients!

Regardless, it is delicious and very creamy and you can eat this alfredo sauce without tons of guilt.

How To Make Vegan Alfredo Sauce

    Gluten

The base for the vegan alfredo sauce starts with creating a roux, which is achieved with olive oil, garlic, and either arrowroot powder or all-purpose flour . After some testing, Ive found all-purpose flour yields a creamier sauce, but the gluten-free version isnt far behind.

Plain almond milk adds creamy texture vegan parmesan cheese and nutritional yeast pack in tons of cheesy flavor and garlic powder, salt and pepper add depth and savoriness.

To keep this recipe gluten-free as written, use your favorite gluten-free pasta. I love Trader Joes gluten-free fusilli and spaghetti. But a more traditional noodle to serve would be linguini, which just happens to be my all-time favorite pasta shape.
