Why I Humbly Declare These To Be Better Than All Other Garlic Parmesan Wings On The Internet:

  • Theyre saucy, even though theres no traditional sauce. I use more butter than most, and it coats the wings quite well.
  • The garlic is mellow, because unlike a lot of the recipes out there I saute it first. This also infuses the butter.
  • Texture, texture, texture. Nobody should have to suffer through rubbery skin or dried out chicken.
  • Dip, or dont. You wont find yourself needing ranch to cool these puppies off. But if you want to dip I wont judge.

What Other Seasoning Can I Add

We made a traditional, mild garlic parmesan sauce for this recipe but you can spice it up to fit your familys tastes. Try adding hot sauce, cayenne pepper, crushed red peppers to make it more spicy. Other options include adding onion powder, basil, and paprika. Or try used fresh minced garlic instead of garlic powder for a stronger garlic flavor.

Stir the sauce until well combined and the larger clumps are gone.

How To Cut Chicken Wings

If the wings you buy at the store are not broken down, youll need to separate the wingette and the drumette, then discard the wing tip .

Heres how to easily break down chicken wings and avoid cutting through bone:

  • Flip the chicken wings over so that they are skin side down. This makes it easier to see the joints.
  • Place a sharp chefs knife on top of the ridge between the wingette and drumette, then press down firmly. The knife should easily cut through the joint with little resistance.
  • If theres a tip on the wing , repeat step 2, placing your knife on top of the ridge of the joint between both pieces. Cut all the way through until each piece of the wing has been separated.

    • Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel before tossing in the flour mixture. Removing the moisture helps to keep them crisp!
    • Adding baking powder to the wings before baking in the oven changes the pH of the chicken skin making it crispy and crunchy. We add just a pinch, dont be tempted to add extra as too much can have an unpleasant flavor.
    • Air frying makes the wings crispy and they do not require baking powder, you can skip this step if using an air fryer.

Can I Add Or Replace Some Ingredients

Yes, you can experiment with different ingredients to find what you like best. For example, if you want a spicier sauce, you could add more hot sauce or cayenne pepper. If you prefer a milder sauce, simply reduce the amount of hot sauce or omit it altogether.

You could also replace the chicken broth with beef broth for a different flavor. Feel free to experiment until you find a combination that you love.

Tips For Making The Best Crispy Chicken Wings

    • Make sure to pat the wings dry before you start. It helps them live up to their full crispy potential.
    • For the freshest, most delicious wings, make only as many as you will want to eat in one sitting. They just dont reheat very well.
    • If the Garlic Parmesan Wings arent getting crispy enough in the oven, you can toss them in the broiler for 1-2 minutes to finish them off.
    • Using a baking rack yelps the fat drip down underneath so it isnt cooking in it and getting soggy.

How To Make Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

With just 6 steps and 15 minutes of active prep, these wings are a breeze to make. Most of their time is spent in the oven, so youll have a little downtime before the timer goes off.

  • Prep Your Materials: Preheat the oven to 450°F. Cover a baking sheet with foil and place a rack on top. Season the chicken wings simply with salt, pepper and garlic powder, then place them on the rack.
  • Bake: Bake the wings for 35-40 minutes on the rack. Use a meat thermometer so make sure they get up to 165°F on the inside.
  • Make the Sauce: While the wings are baking you can get the ingredients together for the garlic parmesan sauce. Start the sauce by adding the melted butter, minced garlic, grated parmesan, mayo, parsley, salt and pepper to a bowl and whisking them together. The butter will separate a little as it sits, so whisk it together again right before you toss the wings.
  • Toss the Wings: Once the wings are done, add them to the bowl with the sauce and toss them until theyre coated completely.
  • Cook Again: Place the wings back on the rack and bake them for another 8-10 minutes, or until they reach your desired crispiness.
  • Garnish and Serve: Garnish the wings with more chopped parsley and shredded parmesan cheese, then serve them hot with your favorite dressing on the side.

Creamy Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings In The Oven | Easy Chicken Wings Recipe

    1. Dry the wings dry before tossing with seasonings. You want the least amount of moisture on the wings as possible. You can place the seasoned wings in the refrigerator for a few hours, this will help to dry them out further.

    2. Use a wire rack and spread them out. Its important to really spread the chicken wings out on a wire baking rack. Using a rack ensure that the wings will have air circulating all around. This will help brown them rather than steam them in the oven. If you are making a big batch they may not fit on one baking sheet. Spread them on two baking sheets if needed without overcrowding for perfect golden brown crispy wings.

    3. Bake them at high temperature to ensure crispy skin and tender meat.

    Garlic Parmesan Sauce Ingredients

*Ingredient amounts are located in the recipe card at the end of this post.

Garlic- To make this sauce, you can use fresh minced garlic or use minced garlic from a jar.

Olive Oil- You can use any kind of cooking oil you want when making this recipe. I used Olive Oil though because it tastes really good in the sauce. If you dont have olive oil, you can skip it or use another type of oil in its place.

Mayonnaise- You will need 1/2 cup for this recipe so go ahead and add a cup to your shopping list. You can also use Miracle Whip or another type of mayonnaise instead if you prefer it, but it will change the flavor a bit.

Sugar- Granulated sugar will work in this recipe. If you dont have sugar, thats okay too because you could add something else like maple syrup or honey in its place.

Parmesan Cheese- Grated Parmesan cheese will add a lot of good flavor to this recipe. I prefer to use the parmesan cheese in the green bottle like this, to keep the correct texture of this sauce.

Vinegar-White vinegar is all you need for this recipe.

Lemon Juice Fresh lemon juice will work really great in this sauce.

Salt- You only need regular table salt, not kosher or sea salt.

Red Pepper Flakes- I like to add a little red pepper flake for some spice and it gives the sauce a little kick. If you dont like it spicy, you can definitely leave the red pepper flakes out or add less than I used in my recipe.

Basil- I used dried basil leaves.

Dried marjoram leaves were used for this recipe.

    Are Baked Wings Crispy

Yes! I know that we usually associate wings with being fried, and thats how they get that delicious crispy outside edge. But you can get that by baking them too! And as a bonus, baking these parmesan garlic wings is healthier than cooking them in oil! When you coat the outside of these wings with baking soda, it mixes with the juices while it bakes. The juices and baking soda combine and make the outside bubble. This is what creates that crispy skin!

  • When I make these the cheese added to the oil to make the sauce always crisps up rather than melts. How can I avoid this?

  • KristaReply

Well, it shouldnt crisp up but it also wont completely melt. The butter will melt and the grated parmesan will leave a gritty type consistency to the sauce so that when you toss it with the baked chicken wings it will stick. Hope that helps.

  • MikeReply

I made these last weekend, I sprinkled with a little bit of fresh sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Put into a vacuum bag, sous vide for 6 hours at 155°. Cooked in the oven until golden brown, partially falling off the bone. Thru them into a bowl with your sauce. Everyone was absolutely amazed that they were homemade. Thank you for sharing. We are making them again for a different group of friends.

  • YAASSS!! I totally agree! These wings never get old! So crisp and full of flavor!

Hey Christy, did you buy regular chicken wing drummttes and wingettes or the larger chicken legs? That would make a big difference in cook time. As far as the sauce, Im not sure it would translate the same if halved. Im sorry it came out not the best for you. Better luck on time two because it is one of my favorites.
