Alright, Im a sucker for good packaging and this sauce bottle caught my eye immediately.

A good mark for any diet-friendly ingredient is that it stands up to scrutiny to more casual food lovers.

This passes the test on that alone.

It strikes a beautiful level of sweetness despite the absence of sugar, and this is partly thanks to its monk fruit ingredient.

Its other ingredients of apple cider vinegar, pink Himalayan sea salt, and butter, all come together to give a fully rounded, addictive BBQ sauce taste.

And with 2 grams of carbohydrate per tablespoon, it should suit anyone on a low carb or low glycemic diet perfectly.

Bbq Sauce Without Added Sugars

Atkins Diet Recipes: Best Low Carb BBQ Sauce

QUESTION: How can I get that big sweet and spicy barbecue sauce taste without any sugar?

ANSWER: Use a natural low carb sweetener like erythritol, xylitol, stevia, monk fruit or a combination of any of the above. Many commercial barbecue sauces use liquid Sucralose to sweeten their products. If thats okay with you, look for EZ-Sweetz liquid drops, but avoid aspartame which changes chemical composition when it heats up and loses sweetness.

I use a low carb erythritol/stevia based sweetener. Erythritol has zero calories. The body doesnt process it so it leaves the body in the same chemical composition as it arrived. This means it contributes zero carbs to your dietary intake.

Which Sweetener Is Best For Keto Bbq Sauce

Ive tested this recipe with varying proportions of liquid monkfruit extract versus powdered erythritol, and I find that the powdered erythritol works the best in this recipe. Be sure to use powdered, though, as it will dissolve much better than a granulated version.

I prefer a tangier, smokier BBQ sauce so the two tablespoons of powdered sweetener works perfect for me. But if you prefer a sweeter sauce, you can just add more erythritol to this. Remember that the carbohydrate in erythritol is largely unmetabolized by the body, so even though you might see carbs on the package they shouldnt affect your blood sugar .

How To Make Keto Bbq Sauce

This recipe is beyond easy to make and just takes a few minutes. So anytime you feel like your meal is lacking something, you can whip up a little of this sauce in no time.

It seriously is a total meal saver and will become your new favorite condiment.

Now let’s get saucy!

COOKING IT ALL IN ONE POT

First, take out a small pot, add all of your ingredients to it, and give them a little whisk to combine.

Then place your pot on the stove over medium heat and bring the ingredients to a boil. Once the ingredients are boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer.

Leave your BBQ sauce simmering until it thickens up. And if you prefer a thinner sauce, just add in ½ tablespoon of water at a time after it thickens until it reaches your ideal consistency.

To finish up, let your BBQ sauce cool completely, then serve and enjoy!

How To Make A Low Carb Smoky Barbecue Sauce

In a saucepan, mix together tomato sauce , white wine vinegar, minced garlic , dry mustard powder, paprika, and the key ingredient: liquid smoke. Liquid smoke is an all-natural flavor enhancer with no carbs, no additives, and no preservatives. It packs quite a punch and is perfect for making this sauce. Once you have the desired sweetness, bring the sauce to the boil and then reduce to a simmer for five minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

This is one of those sauces that will actually taste better the next day, so make it in advance if you can! Just store it in the fridge until required.

What Makes A Steak Sauce Low Carb

The Best BBQ Sauce Recipe – Low Carb – Atkins Friendly

Steak and barbeque sauces are originally characterized by the high carb content in them due to the addition to sweetening agents, such as sugar.

This can be directly by adding sugar or indirectly by using sugary additives, such as sweetened ketchup or Worcestershire sauce.

A low carb steak sauce is one that has a relatively low concentration of these ingredients, which is usually achieved by using alternative sweetening agents that dont have high carb content.

Carbohydrates In This Bbq Sauce

The tomatoes and onions in this contain natural sugar, and Worcestershire sauce typically has a little bit of added sugar. All are key ingredients for developing flavor, but they do add a little bit of carbohydrate to the recipe.

In this case, 2 tbsp contains 7 grams of total carbohydrate. But remember, this was sweetened with erythritol, which is added into the total carbohydrates yet its not metabolized by the body. Because of this, youll be happy to know there are only 4 grams of net carbs after you subtract out the fiber and sugar alcohol.

If thats still a little high for your liking, you can always use just 1 tbsp of sauce instead of 2 tbsp to cut that carb count in half.
