The Kind of Different OneYou should know this right up front: this is not going to be for everyone out there. It is different. But if theres anything the late great Prince taught us, its that being different is more often than not, a great thing. As its name betrays, Kosmos Qs sauce blends the distinct sweetness of peach with a kick of habanero pepper. And while so many sauces have that spicy, sweet dichotomy, this one in particular delivers it with a haymaker to the taste buds. Youll get compliments on this one from your guests and the best part is, you can tell them its a Secret recipe. You wont be lying. It just wont be your secret recipe.

The Founder Went On To Start Another Barbecue Business Under The Sweet Baby Rays Name

While Sweet Baby Ray the person may no longer be involved with Sweet Baby Rays the sauce, he still can capitalize on the name recognition. As part of the terms of the sale to Kens Foods, Raymond kept the rights to the Sweet Baby Rays name, and he used it to start a catering company and a restaurant.

In 2005, the same year of the sale, Raymond opened a barbecue restaurant in Wood Dale, just outside of Chicago. Then he purchased True Cuisine Catering in 2010 to go along with Sweet Baby Rays barbecue catering company. Duce Raymond, who is in business with Dave, added in his line of barbecue sauces: Duces Wild BBQ Sauces. Combined, the businesses are called SBR Events Group, Duce Raymond explained to Chi Thee Wed.

The old and new Sweet Baby Rays businesses are still deeply intertwined. SBR Events Group promotes its use of Sweet Baby Rays barbecue sauce along with Duces Wild BBQ Sauces. The restaurant in Wood Dale also has ten Sweet Baby Rays house barbecue sauces exclusive to the location. The restaurants website nods to Dave Raymonds former sauce business, though it leaves Larry, the original sauce recipe creator, out of it and instead mentions how Dave and his friend and partner Mike OBrien went on to build the most popular barbecue sauce brand in history.

Fourth Place: Sweet Baby Rays Barbecue Sauce

The ranking here shocked me. This is the sauce my family uses to make my favorite baked beans, ribs and steaks. I truly believed that Sweet Baby Rays Barbecue Sauce would be the clear winner but it wasnt. Dont get me wrong, Sweet Baby Rays sauce is delicious. The sauce hugged the meat like a thick jam in the best possible way. The smoky flavors are balanced with a nice brown sugar-y note that makes for one decent cue sauce, but there are other brands that just do it better.

KC Masterpieces barbecue sauce is just plain delicious. The sauce is nice and thick, the flavor is sweet, slightly tangy and smokey. For the price is a hard sell to beat. KC claims to kettle cook their sauce and Im inclined to believe them. This stuff tastes like someone who knows what theyre doing made it at home. Sweet Baby Rays Launches New No Sugar Added Barbecue Sauce Line

Sweet Baby Rays recently released two flavors of Rays No Sugar Added barbecue sauce, Original and Hickory.

Rays No Sugar Added offers a signature sweet, smoky and tangy flavor profile while delivering 1g sugar and 1g net carbs per serving.

Weve landed on a No Sugar Added recipe thats gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, keto-friendly and actually worth eating, said Tom Murphy, VP of brand marketing for Sweet Baby Rays. While other low-sugar and sugar-free sauces deliver runny texture and synthetic flavors, the Rays recipe was forged in the grill pits of Sweet Baby Rays using naturally sweet U.S.-grown tomatoes. Its perfect for brushing on ribs, coating on chicken or dipping tenders.

The new barbecue sauces are sweetened with Allulose, which is a naturally occurring low-calorie sweetener. According to licensed nutritionist Danielle Shea Tan, CNS, MS, CHHC, Allulose has shown to have little-to-no effect on blood glucose or insulin levels.

The resulting sauce delivers outstanding flavor with only 15 calories and 1g net carbs per serving, Tan said.

Rays No Sugar Added is sold on shelves nationwide. For Rays No Sugar Added recipe suggestions, cooking tips and product locator, check out RaysNoSugarAdded.com.

    Jack Daniel’s Original Bbq Sauce

    Sweet Baby Ray

My expectations were so high for Jack Daniel’s original barbecue sauce, and, unfortunately, they weren’t met. The sauce is super sweet and it’s no wonder brown sugar is the first ingredient on the nutrition label, and it also contains traces of pineapple juice which, I can only imagine, amplify the bottle’s aforementioned sweetness. I was hoping for some finger-licking good, southern barbecue sauce, but there isn’t a trace of savory in this sauce, and I missed it. Big time.

    Additional Notes On American Sauces

Americas regions cultivate an evolving spectrum of sauces with smaller-but-emerging styles found throughout the 50 states. Some argue that Memphis and St. Louis represent an alternative style, similar to Kansas City but with a thinner more vinegary base. In North Carolina, scholars also contend that a third imported style riffing on thicker tomato-based sauces has taken hold in the northern regions of the state. And in Kentucky, mutton is sometimes dressed with black Worcestershire-based dip. Wherever its applied, sauce adds a signature that marks barbecue as one of the U.S.s great folk food traditions.

Sixth Place: Publix Original Bbq Sauce

When I first poured Publixs Original Barbecue Sauce over chicken thighs, I couldnt help but notice how watery the consistency was. I had very low expectations here but after some time in the oven, I loved how it caramelized on the chicken. The result was a beautiful glaze. Unfortunately thats where the sauce peaked. The flavor itself was decent but reminded me of the barbecue packets youd get at a fast-food restaurant. Not offensive, but not exactly the best sauce around. Additionally the flavor of the barbecue didnt penetrate into the chicken resulting in a lot of seasoning on the skin and bland meat.

While the company now features 40 different varieties, the original recipe is still their flagship sauce. The original Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce is an enduring backyard and ballpark staple and sold worldwide so everyone can experience the city’s iconic creation.
