My family and I went to eat dinner at black bear Saturday night and our server Christina for her being new is what she told us she was amazing and so polite she made no mistake and went above and beyond. Our kids enjoyed having her as our server and she made our experience at black bear the best. Thank you so much black bear and thank you Christina for your service. Amazing job. The food was also top of the line good wonderful job cooks.

Black Bear Diner is a restaurant that was founded in 1995 by Bruce Dean, Bob, and Laurie Manley. They opened the very first restaurant in Mount Shasta, California, and they serve a variety of burgers, salads, and shakes, but the restaurant focuses more on a breakfast style menu and also sells alcohol at certain locations.

Black Bear Diner has 132 restaurants in the United States, and they plan on opening other restaurants very soon. Their opening hours are mainly from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Just like the name, each Black Bear Diner has a carved 12-foot tall black bear at each restaurant.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, owners Bruce Dean and Bob Manley opened the first diner in Mt. Shasta, Calif., so people could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking in a comfortable atmosphere. Now with 68 locations, the duo added Henderson to the list in December 2014.

The diner serves a full menu all day, every day so you never have to miss out on simple-yet-delicious comfort food again. In addition to the traditional larger plates, the restaurant also offers little less versions for seniors or guests who prefer smaller portions. Most meals range from $7 to $15.

Breakfast meals include The GRIZZ! and the Bear Claw French Toast .

The lunch menu features the Parmesan sourdough cheeseburger and The Gobbler sandwich .

Restaurant Review: Black Bear Diner Is Big On Servings

There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth at the news that Dixie Cafe was closing. And that was just my family.

The building in Lakewood Village sat empty for a while, but with the expectation that something would eventually fill that space.

After a few months a sign promised that a restaurant named Black Bear Diner was coming. The first thrill came when we went to the company website and saw that they serve breakfast all day one check in the positive column.

The menu, with comfort food offerings so familiar in the South, was another positive.

Black Bear Diner is a chain with locations mostly in the West, the first opening in Mount Shasta, Calif., in 1995. There are now locations in Oregon, Arizona, Utah, Washington state, Idaho, Nevada, Texas and Oklahoma.

We had no trouble finding a parking space and pretty much sailed in the door on a late weekday afternoon visit. Upon discovering a 45-minute wait on a Saturday afternoon, we went elsewhere.

To the left of the interior door are shelves with merchandise including honey, hot sauces, bear-feet house shoes and bear-paw retractable back scratchers, and a dessert display case. The relaxing and comfortable dining area has an abundant selection of tables and booths. The main color scheme is green and brown with tan accents.
