What Is Alfredo Sauce
Named for an Italian restaurateur, the original version of Fettuccine Alfredo was simply fresh pasta tossed with butter and cheese. Cream was added to the mix as it gained popularity in the U.S., giving the sauce the rich, velvety texture we come to associate with present day Alfredo recipes.

Are Ragu Sauces Healthy
Overall, Ragu is not a healthy choice. A few of their more simplistic sauces containing minimal ingredients are healthy, but the rest are not.
To start, soybean oil is a prevalent ingredient among the sauces. But, unfortunately, this oil is very high in omega-6 fats, which can cause adverse health side effects when consumed too often. Among these are obesity, diabetes, and depression.
As for calories, the number per serving tends to be high and can add up quickly. Many of the sauces are high in sugar, as well. Some of the flavors contain added sugar, while others only have natural sugars.

Creamy Fettuccine Cauliflower Alfredo is one of those recipes you say really?
And I can tell you, really. This sauce is so close to the higher fat version filled with butter and cream, you really cant tell! But, since this recipe it is made with healthy ingredients like c-a-u-l-i-f-l-o-w-e-r and a plant-based milk, I was more than a bit skeptical.
One of my top goals for this website is to share healthier comfort food recipes. More indulgent straight up classic comfort foods will always be here, but lets admit we all need to lighten things up and eat well.

How To Make Alfredo Sauce With Heavy Cream
So, how to make alfredo sauce with heavy cream? Its incredibly easy. You only need four ingredients and ten minutes!
I didnt include nutmeg in the ingredient count, because its optional. Salt and pepper are also excluded by convention. Everyone has those around, right?
Start by sauteing minced garlic in some butter. Add heavy cream, and simmer for five minutes, until the volume reduces by about one third. It will get thicker as this happens.
For the fastest results, choose a larger saucepan. The more surface area you have, the less time it will take!
The last step is to add the Parmesan cheese. Reduce heat to low and add the cheese, whisking constantly, until smooth. You can add the nutmeg, sea salt and black pepper to taste at the end.
Viola! That is how to make the best easy Alfredo sauce recipe!
As for consistency, you can adjust it to your liking. If its too thick, you can thin it out with more cream. If its too thin, add more cheese.

What Vegetables Make The Best Ragu Sauce
This delicious chicken ragu sauce recipe uses onion, carrots, and garlic.
Slowly sautéing the onions and carrots together to start the recipe releases their sweetness. Many sauce recipes call for sugar to reduce the acidity in a tomato based sauce, but the natural sweet flavors in these vegetables will do that for you.
Plus, they are so healthy!
And after a while you’ll add in garlic for a subtly pungent bite of flavor that is pretty much required in all Italian inspired dishes.

VARIATIONS ON CHICKEN ALFREDO PASTA
- Pasta: Although fettuccini pasta is whats typically used in Chicken Alfredo Pasta, you can use other kinds of past in the recipe. Try using linguine, spaghetti, rigatoni, or penne pasta.
- Chicken broth: Add to the taste of the pasta by cooking it in chicken broth instead of regular pasta water. If you use chicken broth instead of pasta water, you have to be very careful not to overcook the pasta. You could also just use salted water for some extra flavor.
- Add-ins: For some extra flavor and texture try cooking up some sliced mushrooms, broccoli, spinach or onions to go into the Chicken Alfredo.
- Seasonings: Experiment with the flavor by adding herbs and spices like fresh parsley, freshly ground black pepper, oregano, basil, rosemary, or red pepper flakes.
