Chipotle Mayonnaise Is A Pretty Hot Condiment And I’ll Say Its Popularity Is Well

Chipotle Sauce Recipe-Chipotle Mayonnaise Recipe_Simply Food

While I had some oil heated for tostones last week, I also fried up a batch of yuca fries for further Mojo sauce dipping. The fried yuca went pretty well with the Mojo, but what I really wanted for dipping was this chipotle mayonnaise.

Chipotle mayo is a pretty hot condiment, and I’ll say its popularity is well-deserved. With just a few ingredients, you can create a complex mixture of spicy, cool, earthy, and smoky that becomes an excellent spread for sandwiches and burgers, or a dip for fries, chips, and veggies.

Of course, you can go with straight mayo and chipotles here, but I gave my recipe some sour cream and lime juice, which added a tang that gave this already excellent sauce a nice extra layer of flavor.

Vegetarian/vegan Easy Chipotle Sauce Options

If you want to experiment with making this sauce a vegan option, consider swapping the mayo and yogurt for vegan equivalents. If you choose to make your own vegan mayo using soy milk and oil, be sure to use a recipe that calls for some umami such as Dijon mustard or red wine vinegar.

If you choose vegan yogurt, try to make or choose a variety that has about as much sugar as the non-vegan plain yogurt to give the recipe more consistency.

What Are Chipotle Peppers In Adobo Sauce

Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce are a type of chili pepper that is smoked and dried. The chipotle pepper is a variety of jalapeño pepper. Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce can also be added to soups, stews, and sauces to give them a smoky flavor. If you want to try something different, you can even add chipotle peppers to desserts like chocolate cake or ice cream.

Chicken Taquitos With Chipotle Ranch & Jalapeo Ranch Dipping Sauce

In my house, my kids will eat anything if it has Ranch dressing on it. I would just grab whatever was on the dressing aisle and they would dip their chicken, potatoes, etc into it and enjoy it.

I have also always loved Ranch dressing. It really adds a ton of flavor to anything I add to it. Last week I received a fun package in the mail with 3 jars of Litehouse Homestyle Ranch Dressing and some mix in ideas to turn my Ranch dressing into a delicious dip.

Litehouse Homestyle Ranch Dressing is a versatile base that can be mixed with anything from sriracha to bacon & cheddar cheese to create dips that pair perfectly with crackers, fresh-cut vegetables and more.

Since I lived in Mexico for many years I wanted to make some chicken taquitos with some kicked up Ranch! In Mexico they serve taquitos with creama, lettuce, and queso fresco. And then they top it with some salsa. Combining the flavors of Ranch dressing and traditional salsa ingredients I made a new flavor that we are going to enjoy on more than just taquitos.

Its also perfect for dipping vegetable and chip! If you are looking for a special flavor to bring to a New Years Party this is it! Its so easy and delicious! It will take 5 minutes to make this dip.

So EASY and oh so tasty!

  • 2 teaspoons salt

Garnish: lime juice and cilantro

How To Make Chipotle Sauce The Recipe Method

First, gather up your ingredients, which include a can of chipotles in adobe , along with ½ cup Mexican crema , ¼ cup mayo, chopped cilantro, cayenne powder for flavor and heat, garlic powder, cumin, and a bit of salt and pepper.

If youd like a citrus pop, squeeze in a bit of fresh lime juice.

Next, add it all to a food processor and puree until smooth.

BOOM!

Thats it. Easy, right? I love the chipotle pepper flavor.

PLUS! Youll be using the WHOLE can of chipotles in adobo sauce for this. No need to dirty up tiny little storage containers in the refrigerator trying to save the rest. Use ALL of it.

Much better.

For The Honey Chipotle Sauce

  • Honey: The sweetness perfectly balances the sauce and puts the honey in honey chipotle chicken.
  • Chipotles In Adobo: I use the sauce and chop up a couple peppers from a can of chipotles in adobo.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: For a bit of acidity. I prefer the sweetness of apple cider vinegar, but you can sub in white wine vinegar as well.
  • Garlic: Fresh whole cloves, minced.

Youll also need a couple tablespoons of Olive Oil for cooking, and fresh chopped Cilantro or Parsley as an optional garnish.

Why I Love This Recipe

BBQ Ranch Chipotle Dipping Sauce
  • Youll need only 5 minutes and a blender.
  • It is a little creamy and super spicy with smokey flavors .
  • Very forgiving recipe and easy to customize. E.g. you can make more creamy, less spicy. See the details on how to do it in the tips section below.
  • A very versatile dipping or topping sauce. See the serving ideas below.
  • Because of its bold flavors, it can jazz up your boring meal into something delicious, mouthwatering.

NOTE: Most chipotle sauce recipes youll find on the internet are heavier on creaminess and less spicy hence you see lighter color with just a tinge of chipotle peppers. I feel thats lacking the real chipotle smokey flavor. Mine is focused on chipotle peppers, super smokey, super spicy with little creaminess.

An Easy Chipotle Sauce Recipe That Can Be Used On Just About Everything Use It As A Dip For Appetizers Or Bread Over Chicken Even Drizzle Some On Pizza

  • How Spicy Are Chipotle Peppers?
  • Did you know that chipotle peppers are simply smoked and dried jalapenos? I suppose its no wonder then why I love them so . Im a sauce girl, too I even love to dip my fries in different sauces , drizzle them over baked potatoes and vegetables and even use them in place of mayo or mustard on a sandwich. All of which this easy chipotle sauce recipe is perfect for!

I made a really yummy Mexican chicken flatbread pizza and drizzled this sauce over the top as soon as I pulled it hot from the oven. It brought all of the flavors together and made it really pretty, too! Heres a sneak peek photo for you:

The key to understanding how to make an easy chipotle sauce is knowing that chipotle peppers are essentially ripe, dried, and smoked before preparing.

You dont have to go through all the trouble of drying and smoking the jalapeno pepperswed have to change the name from easy chipotle sauce to slightly more complicated chipotle sauce.

You can buy dried chipotle peppers at most grocery stores or canned chipotle which may work as a substitute if you cant find them dried.

If you cannot find either canned or dried whole chipotles, you can use chipotle powder in this recipe instead. Some sources report using 1/2 a teaspoon of chipotle powder can replace one whole dried chipotle pepper.

What Goes Best With Homemade Chipotle Sauce

I LOVE to have this on hand for grilled chicken or pork. Its a great finisher. Toss some fried or grilled chicken wings or legs with this chipotle sauce and go straight to flavor heaven. Fried or grilled shrimp, too.

It’s also great served as a chipotle dip with chips. Just pour it into a small bowl. It’s one of the best dipping sauces ever.

Or use it as you would any other condiment and drizzle it over sandwiches, wraps or salads. I love it on fish tacos.

    DELISH!

Try it out with this Quick and Easy Chipotle Chicken Recipe, Grilled Chicken Wings or Grilled Shrimp.

You pretty much have to make it homemade. I never see chipotle sauce in grocery stores. I’d rather make it at home anyway. More chipotle flavor for me!

Give it a go, my friends. Let me know how you like it, and how you best like to serve it. Curious to hear! Enjoy. Mike H.

Spiced Chicken Wings With Chipotle Lime Dipping Sauce

    Spicy Chipotle Chicken Dip

Before the blog my chicken wing world was dark. Well bright red is more like it. I thought the only kind of chicken wings were those slathered in a neon red spicy butter sauce and dunked in ranch . But since I began blogging and experimenting with various recipes, my chicken wing world has brightened. So far I have tried Sweet Thai Chili Wings, Cajun Chicken Wings, Garlic Pepper Chicken Wings and now these Spiced Chicken Wings with Chipotle Lime Dipping Sauce. With all this experimenting I think I might change my name from Des to Chicken wing Queen. Whaddya think?

Like a couple of my other chicken wing recipes, these wings are baked. The difference this time is that I decided to use a combination of plain dry and panko bread crumbs for a coating. The mixture made for a crispy wing without having to fry them, which make these quite a bit healthier than your regular fried butter sauce slathered chicken wing. Not that those arent good of course -)

Along with my chicken wing world expansion, my chicken wing dip world has also grown. While ranch might be good with these, I wanted to add a little kick so I made a quick chipotle dipping sauce. It was so good I may have dunked my finger in it a couple of times once I ran out of wings.

Can You Substitute Chipotle Powder For Chipotle Peppers In Adobo

You can substitute ground chipotle chili for chipotle chiles in adobo if you are in a bind. However, chipotle peppers in adobo are extra fabulous because they are marinated in the fiery adobo sauce, which makes them that much more flavorful the powder just isnt the same.We are also using 1 teaspoon adobo sauce in this recipe so I highly suggest you splurge for the canned chili peppers. The sauce can be omitted if you use the powder. One chipotle pepper is equivalent to ½ teaspoon of chipotle powder, so I recommend starting with 1 teaspoon and adding more to taste after it is all blended together. If you are wary about heat, start with less you can always add spice but its hard to take away!

Chipotle Chicken Kabobs With Cilantro Lime Dipping Sauce

    Spicy Chipotle Chicken Dip

    Posted on

This post is from the archives and Im republishing it today with some updated links and a recipe card. Ejoy!

Ive told you quite a few times that the orange ATK cookbook has become one of my favorites in the last year or so. Its full of recipes that arent super-duper involved or time-consuming, and thats a godsend for me on busy days.

But unlike some quick recipes, most of these dont call for overly processed ingredients, and they also taste delicious.

    So, pretty much a win-win-win.

These chipotle chicken kabobs are simple but tasty, and they dont have to sit in the marinade, which means you totally do not have to think ahead to make em.

Also, if you have any leftover, they make a darn delicious salad for lunch the next day.

They obviously dont make a meal in and of themselves, but you can always skewer some veggies to go alongside on the grill. Or I sometimes add a salad and sweet or regular potatoes as sides.

Chicken breasts are a bit on the expensive side, but I think these could successfully be made with boneless skinless chicken thighs too. Let us know if you try it!

To make these, first mix the marinade ingredients together.

Chipotle Chilies In Adobo Sauce Aside:

The marinade includes chipotle chilies in adobo sauce, and though these come in a small can, theres almost no way you could use them up at one time.

So I process my chilies in the food processor and store them in a glass jar in the fridge, where they keep pretty much forever.
