Steak Sauce Flavor Variations
This sauce is delicious as-is, but you can add other ingredients to customize it to your tastes.
- Garlic Lovers: Add 2 teaspoons of sauteed garlic instead of the garlic powder listed in the recipe.
- Sweet and Savory: Increase the amount of honey to 1 1/2 tablespoons.
- Mexican Style: Add 1 teaspoon of chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon of cumin, 1/4 teaspoon of coriander and 1 teaspoon of lime juice.
- Asian Style: Swap out the Worcestershire sauce for low sodium soy sauce. Add 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil, and 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger.
- Spicy: You can up the heat level by using more hot sauce, or add buffalo wing sauce or sriracha sauce to taste. Another option is to add 2 teaspoons of canned chipotle peppers.
- Creamy: Stir in 1/3 cup mayonnaise for a creamier sauce.

What Condiments Go With Steak
Steak sauce is always a delicious accompaniment to beef, but there are plenty of other options to try.
- Compound Butter: Mix softened butter with herbs, garlic, spices and other flavorings such as lemon zest. Place 2 teaspoons of the butter on top of your cooked steaks.
- Herb Sauce: Fresh herbs are the perfect complement to decadent steak. Try a basil pesto or parsley gremolata.
- Salsa: Steak goes well with all types of salsa, from salsa verde, to pico de gallo, or even a fresh pineapple salsa.
- Tapenade: I love to add a scoop of olive, artichoke or sun dried tomato tapenade on top of a steak.
- Aioli: Mix garlic, herbs and spices into mayonnaise to make a creamy dipping sauce for your meat.
Once you try this steak sauce, youll find yourself whipping up a batch almost every week its just that good!
Tips For The Perfect Sauce
- I use jarred refrigerated horseradish, as its convenient and tastes great. This is the secret ingredient that really makes the sauce special.
- Look for a ketchup that has no high fructose corn syrup, the flavor will be better.
- This sauce stays fresh in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. You can also freeze the sauce for future use. Simply thaw the sauce in the refrigerator and it will be ready to use.
- While this sauce is obviously delicious with steak, I also serve it with grilled chicken, pork tenderloin or on hamburgers. It also makes a great dip for french fries!

Country Bob’s Relishes Its ‘steak’ In Ibcs
A saucy improvement to its bulk-packaging operations has given an important advantage to Country Bob, Inc., which uses ingredients from French’s Flavor Ingredients to make a tangy, all-purpose sauce. Adopting the ReadyFill® intermediate bulk container from International Paper’s ReadyFill Systems Div. to ship the sauce ingredients has saved big in terms of labor and time, and it actually prevents the liquid concentrate ingredient from settling during shipment.
Country Bob Edson is a real person who, in 1968, perfected “the sauce of his dreams,” after years of giving his homemade steak and burger sauce to friends and family. Edson began selling the all-purpose sauce in 1977 and in 1982, established Country Bob, Inc. in Centralia, IL. The company is dedicated to offering its great-tasting, quality All Purpose Steak Sauce, which is now available in 13-oz polyethylene terephthalate bottles among other containers. Today, Country Bob’s distribution has magnified regionally. The sauce is available in the Midwest, the South and in most Wal-Mart Super Centers nationwide. The company also makes products including a barbecue sauce, a hot sauce and a seasoning salt.
Country Bob’s now handles one container at a time instead of six, so saves time unloading. In addition, the collapsible IBCs save 50 percent in warehouse space and allow for a 28-percent drop in floorspace usage where the product is stored, Malekovic says.
Product Review: Country Bobs All Purpose Sauce
Over the weekend we had the pleasure of testing out a sauce weve walked by many times in the grocery store, without even knowing it was there. Although we make most of our sauces at home, there are some times you just want to grab a bottle from the fridge, in this case, its a sauce thats tasty on just about everything!
Weve always been fascinated by everything sauces. Sure, some seem to lend their taste to different things , but most are pretty specific to the meal at hand.
This past weekend was a beautiful one here in Kansas City and we had the chance to grill, smoke and cook out for almost every meal. We grabbed a bottle of Country Bobs and sauced up most of our creations with fabulous results. We tested it out on chicken, beef, pork, even some grilled veggies!
Even though the sauce can be applied to more than one type of meat or vegetable, it doesnt taste the same on every one. Sounds weird right? Country Bobs sauce is a great base for letting the natural taste of your food shine through while kicking it up a notch. If we had to describe it, wed have to say its something like Brown Sauce, but with less tang. It has more spice than ketchup, but less than a traditional BBQ sauce.

Loughlins Irish Steak Sauce & Marinade
Peter Luger dates back to 1887 when it opened in Brooklyn featuring a cafe, billiards, and bowling. It is known as one of the best steakhouses in New York, earning a Michelin Star. It is also one of the oldest restaurants in the United States.
Given Peter Lugers reputation as a steakhouse, a steak sauce brand makes sense for the company to produce. It is said to have a kick with horseradish as an ingredient combined with a traditional steak sauce flavor. Two popular places to purchase this sauce are on peterluger.com and Amazon.com.
The primary ingredients of the steak sauce are tomatoes, vinegars, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, salted, grated horseradish, and molasses.

I will not buy it any more because they trippled the sodium
Gary October 14, 2020
I cannot find it my MI stores anymore and disappointed the new recipe sodium tripled and calories went up? I thought the old recipe was the best sauce thst I ever had. 13 October 2020

This was our favorite Barbecue sauce. Has great flavor and texture, But because the sodium per serving almost TRIPLED we will need to find a different brand. The old version was perfect for people with high blood pressure, kidney issues or sodium issues. The old original version was an easy 5 stars!
M. Layton March 12, 2020
My husband and I loved this sauce but the sodium content went from 115my to 330my so now trying to find something else.
Ken Barnhart August 11, 2019
Just like all the other reviews, this is the best bbq sauce around. I live in Kansas City and it is better than anything I can find here. Problem is it is not sold in the greater Kansas City area. Kansas City needs this sauce!
Karl Johansen August 17, 2018

I got a new grill from Walmart and I LOVE IT! The pan sets over two stove burners so I can easily make 8 pancakes or lots of meat . The best part is that it was only $20 and washes up easily in the dishwasher!! You see, anything I grill tastes like lighter fluid so to be able to cook on my stove and have those beautiful grill lines… it’s a miracle! I wanted to cook some chicken and steaks so I went to go look at the marinades and saw Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce, I looked on the back and sure enough there was a marinade recipe! We’ve never tried Country Bob’s before and honestly it isn’t something I would use often but it was nice for a change, it’s like a mix of A1 and BBQ sauce. So yeah, the grill pan ended up being a better find than this marinade, but that’s ok… not every recipe is a winner.Ingredients13 ounce bottle of Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce3 cloves of garlic, mincedSalt and PepperDirectionsPlace your meat , garlic, salt, pepper, and Country Bob’s sauce in an airtight container or bag and marinade for 6 hours or overnight. Grill and enjoy. Here’s my grill pan in action, I really do love it!!

Review: Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce
As I opened the bottle, I caught a whiff of the sweet smell of molasses. I had not expected that. I put just a drop of the sauce on my finger and tasted it, and WOW, I knew we were in for something incredible. This was definitely not like any steak sauce, barbecue sauce, or marinade Id tried before. In fact, Country Bobs All Purpose Sauce is literally in a category all by itself. The first thing I did was to heat Country Bobs sauce in a Lodge cast iron melting pot on top of my cast iron Sportsman’s Grill. I wanted to apply the sauce while hot to the chicken breasts to immediately shock the outer layer and seal in the natural juices.
We had invited some friends over who also brought their twin four-year-olds. After we set down at the table, everyone marveled at the unique flavor of the chicken. Again, I think everyone expected this to be just another barbecue sauce, but Country Bobs has its own distinct taste. One of children who is sometimes finicky with new foods, quickly said More sauce! So, I retrieved the bottle from outside, and everyone passed it around the table adding more of the sweet sauce to their chicken.
The Original Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce Review
“The original Country Bobs All Purpose Sauce has a great flavor that I absolutely loved. It had the flavor and consistency that combined the thin tanginess of A1 sauce with the sweet yumminess of a traditional barbecue. I poured this over rice, and enjoyed the menagerie of flavor that it provided.
It is thick enough to pour over rice and vegetables, but also thin enough to use as a marinade for chicken or turkey. This sweet and tangy sauce provides a nice middle ground between a steak sauce and a barbecue sauce the best of both worlds!”
“Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce is the perfect blend of sweet and tangy. I love the light, delicate flavor that’s not overwhelming but has enough of kick to add flavor to whatever meat of choice. I marinated my pork chops in the sauce and then tossed them on the grill – they came out amazingly moist and sweet.
The thickness of this all purpose sauce actually reminds me of A1, but with much more of a sweet flavor. This blend of flavors makes it perfect to pair with so many different meats, vegetables and even rice or noodles. Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce is a must to keep anyone’s kitchen.”
