Chicken Piccata Recipe – How to Make Chicken Piccata – Chicken with Lemon Caper Sauce

Capers aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, so feel free to leave them out, although they do add a briny bite to the dish. Or, if you don’t have capers but do have meaty green olives in the pantry, you can chop them small and add them to the dish. They’ll give that briny bite.

Try these other chicken piccata variations, too.

  • Add sautéed mushrooms or onion, or both.
  • Use half chicken stock, half dry white wine.
  • Substitute fresh dill for fresh parsley.
  • Add garlic.

Or, go all out on the variations and try Chicken Piccata Pasta or Sole Piccata.

The easiest chicken piccata ever! With tender, juicy chicken thighs + the most heavenly cream sauce. 30 min, start to finish. YES!!

How do you like your chicken piccata? Because I like mine extra-extra creamy. You know, so you have enough sauce for your vegetables, your pasta, or you know, for the crusty bread to sop up all the good bits.

So thats exactly what we have here. Extra-extra creamy as I call it. And you know I love using boneless, skinless chicken thighs, but as always, you can substitute chicken breasts if you prefer white meat. Youll still have all the saucy goodness to go around!

Serve with the wine you cook with in this recipe no need to let that go to waste!

Tips For The Best Chicken Piccata

  • The chicken breasts should be fairly thin and pounded out even if needed. This way, theyll cook quickly and evenly.
  • Dont skip the flour, it helps the chicken to brown nicely on the exterior it also gives the sauce something to cling to.
  • Only use fresh lemon juice not bottled, it would ruin the flavor of the dish.
  • If you are looking to cut calories, you could replace the heavy cream with half and half instead and still have a deliciously creamy sauce.
  • Rinse the capers so they arent too salty.
  • Dont skip the fresh parsley, as adds that extra bit of freshness to this lemon chicken piccata and adds a nice pop of color.

But I dont use wine in my recipes, so I will use white vinegar instead of wine in this lemon chicken piccata. Feel free to use white wine if you are ok with it.

Also if anybody can help me to give me substitute for wines. Please level a comment about that.

    How To Fry Chicken Piccata

Chicken Piccata Recipe | How to Make Chicken Piccata | Recipe for Chicken with Lemon Sauce.

For a quick fry of the chicken breasts, use a large stainless steel or cast iron skillet. Avoid using a non-stick pan. To build flavor, you want the chicken to leave bits in the bottom of the pan for the piccata sauce. A non-stick pan wont create those bits.

When frying, I use a combination of butter and oil. The oil tempers the butter so it doesnt burn, and the butter adds that golden color and flavor to the chicken. If youre worried about the added fat, start by adding less of both and add more as needed. But dont leave one or the other out for the best results.

A Quick And Delicious Fish Dinner

    Chicken Piccata Recipe {Best Creamy Sauce}

This is a riff off of my popular chicken piccata recipe, using the same ingredients for my piccata sauce and simply replacing the chicken with trout fillet . My friend Matt Janofsky, you’ll hear his name in the video below, is one behind this brilliant idea!

The choice of fish and how you season it matters, but what takes this recipe over the top is the lemon piccata sauce, made with a base of white wine, quality olive oil, lemon juice and a little bit of unsalted butter. It’s lighter and tangier than a cream-based sauce but still smooth and buttery! I relied more on extra virgin olive oil and used less butter than you’ll find in a traditional lemon piccata sauce recipe – and you can even use ghee if you prefer.

This easy pan-seared trout recipe comes together in about 20 minutes, and it is one that even my friends who aren’t big on fish will enjoy.

How To Store And Reheat Leftovers

While I always recommend eating fish the same day it’s cooked, pan-seared trout does make a flavorful lunch if there are leftovers.

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days, in an airtight glass container. Reheat on the stove for best results.. Be sure to just reheat the fish and not overcook it. Top with the fresh parsley after reheating, and maybe a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

Chicken Piccata with Lemon Sauce Recipe: How to Make It ...

Its simply easy to make this piccata sauce. Heres how you make one:

    • Melt butter in a pan and sauté onion and garlic about a minute or two.
    • Pour the white wine , chicken stock and freshly squeezed lemon juice and bring to a boil and cook until wine almost evaporates.
    • Reduce the heat to low and add capers and the remaining butter then adjust the taste with salt and pepper.
    • Dont be tempted to thicken the sauce with flour or cornstarch, IT WILL eventually thicken slightly. Be patient in this process to allow the flavors to fuse well together.

Tip: If for some reasons your sauce doesnt thicken, mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water until you no longer see any lumps. Then slowly pour it into the center of the pan while the sauce is boiling and whisk it in to fully blend into the sauce. It should thicken by then, and you can now add your chicken back into the pan.
