Can you show us how to modify this recipe and eliminate the salt? I’m looking for a low sugar and low or no sodium bbq sauce recipe. I’m more concerned about the sodium than the sugar.

    Tuesday 24th of December 2019

Hi John,These are the ingredients in this recipe that I am aware of that contain sodium: tomato paste , Worcestershire sauce , chili powder and of course the salt itself.I believe if you omit the salt and buy the reduced or no sodium tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce, you will reduce the sodium content in the recipe greatly. Please know though, that I am not a medical doctor, certified dietitian or nutritionist so it would be irresponsible of me to give any medical advice. While I have not tested this recipe with the salt omitted I think it should be okay. If you try it out be sure to come back and leave a comment and let me know how it turned out for you.I hope this is helpful to you and you are able to find a bbq sauce that you enjoy!~Joy

Ingredients For Keto Low Carb Bbq Sauce

    Sweet Baby Ray

I must admit, this challenge was a bit daunting. Making homemade barbecue sauce can be a Big Deal. People have competitions for barbecue sauce recipes! And, different parts of the country all have different interpretations of what makes an excellent BBQ sauce.

As if that werent enough, this low carb blog is also all about recipes with ten ingredients or less. If youve ever looked at the ingredient list for a barbecue sauce, or tried to make your own using just about any recipe, you probably know this isnt the easiest promise to uphold. No matter how you like it, BBQ sauce has a ton of complex flavors!

It took a few experiments to get my low carb barbecue sauce recipe just right. Or at least good according to the family and friends I had as taste testers.

So whats in a keto BBQ sauce recipe? Not as much as youd think and thats the key.

There is no high fructose corn syrup, pointless chemicals, or crazy additives when you make this keto sauce at home. A healthy, low carb BBQ sauce can be made with only a dozen ingredients that you likely already have in your cabinets.

    How cool is that?

This low carb barbecue sauce is made with the following ingredients:

As with any recipe, you can tweak it to your tastes. Want a low carb BBQ sauce with just a bit more heat? No problem! Increase the cayenne by a pinch.

Need it to be a bit sweeter to offset the other parts of the meal? Voila! Go ahead and a dash more sweetener.

    Where To Use This Sauce

BEEF. It’s a condiment I like to use in beef recipes, for example when marinating steaks or for ground beef. The tangy/sweet notes of the tamarind in the sauce works really well in this recipe.

PORK: We have used this homemade sugar free bbq sauce recipe in place of ketchup with sausages and I’ve marinated pork belly with it.

I grilled the pork belly strips for 30 minutes, then added the barbecue sauce and returned them to the oven for another 25 minutes. Delicious.

SPARE RIBS: I bet it would also be good for bbq ribs and as a topping for burgers .

DIPPING: Use it as a dipping sauce for these awesomely crispy keto chicken wings or my Low Carb Keto Chicken Nuggets!

Is Regular Barbecue Sauce Sugar Free

No! Buying condiments in the supermarket and staying sugar free is a tricky business. Ready-made sauces are usually laden with added sugar, as well as large amounts of additives straight out of the chemistry textbook.

Sugar acts as a preservative. It extends the shelf life of products. It is cheap. It enhances taste. People love sugar because it triggers the release of dopamine in the reward centre of the brain. Eating sugar makes us want to eat more sugar.

All of this is GREAT for business – and bad for our health.

I don’t want to bang on about how evil food manufacturers are. They’re in it for the profit, not for charity. What we can do is read labels and make informed decisions about what we put into our bodies.

4 grams of sugar is equivalent to 1 teaspoon of table sugar. When you read that 100g of Heinz Sweet and Spicy Barbecue Sauce contains 34g of sugar, for example, you know what you’re in for.

SWEET BABY RAYS NO SUGAR ADDED BBQ SAUCE REVIEW- KETO BBQ SAUCE

The perfect healthy barbecue sauce is a balance of sweet, smoky, spicy, tangy, and just the right thickness. This low carb BBQ sauce is all of the above. Its got the perfect balance of flavors, smoky undertones, and consistency.

The liquid smoke really makes the biggest difference, so dont skip that part. Even if you have to shop online to find it.

And because you are the master of this keto BBQ sauce recipe, you can make it just right for whatever you are planning to use it with. While most people think its just right, if you need to you can make it thinner for a dipping sauce, or nice and thick to stick to grilling meats.

Since BBQ sauce is a bit sweet, youll swap out the sugar and/or corn syrup used in traditional sauces and even the sucralose used in a store-bought keto BBQ sauce for powdered monk fruit allulose blend . Take a peek at this keto sugar substitutes guide for a full explanation of your options, as well as the sweetener conversion chart, when making a low carb keto recipe.

Low Carb No Sugar Homemade Bbq Sauce Is Paleo Gluten Free Dairy Free Low Carb No Added Sugar Bbq Sauce With Just 2 Carbs Per Serving

I so love to have homemade, healthy mixes and condiments in my kitchen.

Low Carb No Sugar Homemade BBQ Sauce is easy and guess what! It tastes just like BBQ sauce!

I have tried quite a few BBQ sauce recipes and have often been disappointed. That is, until I tried this one.

I was encouraged when it smelled so much like the real thing as it cooked but I didnt want to be too hopeful. It turns out that the hope was well founded.

THIS is the recipe I have been looking for!

I found it here and made a few changes.

Instead of using whole garlic and onion, I use powder. It is lower carb and easier, not to mention we wouldnt want the chunks in our sauce.

So many recipes say No Sugar but what they really mean is no white sugar and they add honey, maple syrup, or artificial sugar.

Even the healthy versions have sugar of some kind added and that is not low carb.

This recipe REALLY has NO SUGAR . You wont get away from that in a bbq sauce made with tomatoes, unfortunately.

The tomatoes will add about 1 gram of sugars to each Tablespoon of bbq sauce.

Dont ask me how, but the added sugar is not needed in this recipe. You can thank me lateror now, that is fine.

And the best part about that is that it is still wonderful BBQ sauce!

    Cooking And Serving Tips

Here are a few other things to know about making your own BBQ sauce like a pro:

    • Make sure to stir frequently, about once every 10 to 15 minutes, while the BBQ sauce is cooking. This will help better incorporate the flavors and ensure that the sauce is evenly cooked throughout.
    • Let the sauce cool before transferring to a storage container. A mason jar is a good option. Whatever you use, make sure it’s airtight. You can store your sauce in the refrigerator for up to a week.
