Best Type Of Shrimp To Use For Instant Pot Shrimp Alfredo
Jumbo size shrimp This size shrimp may look too big to eat but when theyre cooked they shrink quite a bit and become bite sized!
- If you put them in completely frozen they will make this pasta more watery, that is not our preference.
- Feel free to buy at the meat counter already thawed, or buy frozen like we did and leave them in a bowl or baggie in the fridge overnight to thaw out.
If you have No shells:
Goes without saying but it would be very difficult to pick them out of the meal to take off the shells, would be a complete mess too. Remove shells and tails before you add them into your pressure cooker

How Do You Know If The Shrimp Is Cooked
Raw shrimp has a grayish-white color and it looks a bit translucent. As it cooks, it turns whitish-pink and becomes opaque. This only takes about 2 minutes per side.
Another sign of perfectly cooked shrimp is that the shrimp curls up slightly resembling the letter C. Overcooked, chewy and rubbery shrimp curls up into an O shape.

Make Ahead Storage Freezing And Reheating
Make Ahead: Creamy pasta recipes are best when served fresh, immediately after made. Pasta dishes dry up quickly as the noodles tend to absorb the creamy sauce.
Storing: Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
Freezing: I dont recommend freezing Alfredo pasta.
Reheating: If you need to reheat the sauce only , place it in a saucepan and warm it up slowly over very low heat, stirring as needed. Pasta Alfredo can be reheated in the microwave in small intervals, or in a baking dish, covered in a preheated 325ºF oven. You may need to stir the pasta with a little bit of water to make the sauce creamy again.
Shrimp can overcook fast so make sure you dont heat the pasta for too long.
Shrimp Alfredo Pasta With Scallops
Shrimp Alfredo Pasta with Scallops can be made using spaghetti or fettuccine. It will depend on your preference or on the availability of the ingredient in your pantry at the moment. This Alfredo pasta is easy and simple. It makes use of our thick Alfredo sauce recipe that uses heavy cream.
I like rich and thick pasta sauces. If you do not feel the same, you can use half and half as an alternative to heavy cream in making the sauce. The Parmesan cheese is good enough for me. However, you can also add grated Romano cheese if you feel that there is a need for it.
The shrimp and scallop combination works well for this pasta dish. Make sure that the shrimp is pan fried and the scallops are seared before adding the sauce for best results.

My Best Tip When Making Homemade Alfredo Pasta
Reserving the cooking pasta water is a must. The starchy pasta water creates an emulsion that helps make the creamy sauce smooth, velvety and absolutely perfect.
After you toss the pasta with the sauce, the noodles tend to absorb the sauce making the dish look dry. Adding some pasta water fixes that problem. After a quick toss your pasta will be creamy as if you just finished cooking it.

Be sure to cook your creamy parmesan sauce over low heat. Never let it come to a boil or it could separate. Freshly grated parmesan cheese is a crucial component of this dish as it will melt a lot better than the pre-shredded kind.

How To Make Homemade Shrimp Alfredo Pasta
This shrimp alfredo recipe is basically two parts. The sauce, and the shrimp.
There are two ways you could make a homemade Alfredo Sauce. The traditional way involves a few simple ingredients and basically heating them on the stove and melting the cheese, and the non-traditional method involves creating a roux.
I think both methods are delicious, and the roux method is definitely a skinnier recipe since it uses a lot less butter and a cream. However if I had to choose, its going to be traditional Alfredo every time. Its rich, its creamy and pure decadence.
What Is Shrimp Alfredo Pasta
Lets start by addressing what alfredo is. Alfredo is a cream based pasta sauce that is traditionally served with pasta or rice. It is made with butter and Parmesan, but here in America, we love our heavy cream -so we add it for extra richness. These days, you can find alfredo pasta on almost any menu when eating out, and you can buy alfredo from a jar at the local market. For the best taste, like everything else, a homemade alfredo pasta sauce will give you the best flavor ever.

Creamy sauces and additional toppings can also be very filling so you may even be able to stretch out the servings even more.
