Sweet Baby Rays Sweet Teriyaki Wings

Sweet baby rays sweet teriyaki sauce review

Oh, deliciously sweet, sticky, Asian-inspired wing, how do I love you!? I looked like a bulldog with a pork chop when I started chowing down on some Sweet Baby Rays Sweet Teriyaki wings. Heck, youd think I hadnt eaten in a week. I couldnt help myself. Yeah, there are a ton of things you can use SBRs sauce on, but for me, wings is it. Done.

Sweet Baby Rays Sweet Teriyaki wing sauce doesnt pack any heat. Its sweet, just like the name says. But, if youre looking for that extra little something, a little kick, add some hot sauce. I wouldnt go crazy with it though. This sauce is perfect as it is and a welcomed change from Buffalo-style wing sauces.

Kc Masterpiece Original Bbq Sauce

Another of the budget options on your grocers shelves is KC Masterpiece Original BBQ Sauce. And just like Krafts concoction, this stuff is absolutely awful. KC Masterpiece attempts to use hickory smoke flavor to balance its sickly sweetness, and the result is an overpowering taste of mediocrity. If you make the mistake of adding it to meat of any kind, this sauce is all you will taste. However, some people do make cookies with it hows that for a testament to how sweet it is?

Additionally, KC Masterpiece Original BBQ sauce has a chemical aftertaste, which is definitely not the taste you want in your mouth after an evening spent slaving over a hot grill.

Dont be fooled by the Hickory Brown Sugar version that KC Masterpiece also markets. It tastes almost exactly the same as their original sauce with just a tiny hint of the existence of brown sugar.

Heinz Classic Sweet & Thick Bbq Sauce

Heinz has been in business since 1869 and has been making its famous ketchup since 1876. Todays Heinz ketchup is by far the most popular brand of ketchup in the United States. Recently, Heinz expanded to offering a new line of barbecue sauces and so far the results have been impressive for being the new kid on the block.

Heinz Classic Sweet & Thick BBQ Sauce hit shelves in 2017 and its doing a lot right. As the name suggests, this barbecue sauce is sweet and it has a thickness that works especially well when used as a dipping sauce. Its made with cane sugar and a variety of spices including onion and garlic, plus tamarind concentrate.

Give Heinz a few more years and these ketchup experts will probably be climbing this list. As it stands, this barbecue sauce is slightly heavy on the vinegar taste. Heinz Classic Sweet & Thick BBQ Sauce is good enough to buy, but its still a work in progress as they continue to work on balancing all the flavors.

Sticky Fingers Carolina Classic Barbecue Sauce

Sweet Baby Ray

If you prefer mustard-based barbecue sauces, youre not alone. What Sticky Fingers Carolina Classic Barbecue Sauce does so right is successfully adding layers to the mustard. The result is a sweet and tangy sauce that manages to stay true to its roots. If youre grilling and you want to add a tangy flavor profile, this is the stuff.

Forget ranch, Sticky Fingers Carolina Classic Barbecue Sauce is so legitimately tasty that its not uncommon to find this sauce used as salad dressing even at restaurants. If you think you hate salad and are quick to pass on your greens, give this sauce a try and you will be changing your mind.

While this version gives you that mustard flavoring that is popular in South Carolina, this company also makes Sticky Fingers Memphis Original Barbecue Sauce that tastes exactly like the best barbecue sauce you can find in Tennessee restaurants. Dont miss that one either.

How To Make Grilled Awesome Sauce Chicken

As I mentioned, the chicken is marinated in a combination of honey mustard, teriyaki sauce, and hot sauce. I used Sweet Baby Rays teriyaki sauce and Franks Hot Sauce. I let the chicken hang out overnight in the marinade before grilling. If you dont have overnight, just let the chicken marinate as long as possible before cooking on the grill.

My number one tip for grilling chicken breasts is to pound the chicken to an even thickness. Pounding the chicken breasts allows the chicken to cook evenly. This will prevent you from having half-dry chicken and half-juicy chicken. Just place the chicken breasts in a gallon ziplock bag and use a flat meat mallet to pound out the thick end of the chicken. You can use the same bag to marinate the chicken.

Grocery Store Barbecue Sauces Ranked Worst To First

Barbecue sauce is as American as baseball and apple pie, particularly in the South. This condiment is not only a ketchup substitute, it can also be used as a marinade, sauce, or topping when barbecuing. From pulled pork to beef ribs and from smoked chicken to grilled vegetables, you can find this sauce on just about anything.

Perhaps the most fascinating aspect about barbecue sauce is the variety. Depending on where you are in the South, the recipe for the local barbecue sauce will vary wildly.

In Memphis, its the molasses that takes center stage. In parts of the Carolinas, its a mopping sauce that can be used for dipping or as a baste for the meat. Other parts of the Carolinas are famous for adding mustard, Kansas City is known for its expert use of tomatoes, while Texas adds peppers to the mix to create spiciness.

This list of barbecue sauces takes a look at the store-bought varieties and ranks them, from worst to best. Fire up your grill, take out your meat, and be ready to select the best barbecue sauce for the job after reading this handy guide.

Cattlemens Carolina Tangy Gold Bbq Sauce

Sweet Baby Ray’s/Teriyaki Beef Jerky

Brought to you by the same company that blesses the world with Franks RedHot and Frenchs Classic Yellow Mustard, Cattlemens Carolina Tangy Gold BBQ Sauce will have your taste buds doing somersaults. The common criticism is that this barbecue sauce has too many good ingredients doing too much at the same time.

The first taste youll notice is the mustard, which arrives via No. 1 grade mustard seed and is given spiciness by aged red cayenne peppers and depth by paprika, onion, and garlic. Then, youll taste the sweetness of the sugar and the molasses. Finally, the smoky aftertaste is due to the natural smoke hickory flavoring.

All in all, Cattlemens Carolina Tangy Gold BBQ Sauce is an okay choice as long as you enjoy mustard being the dominant taste. If you prefer sweetness or tomato flavoring, look elsewhere. This sauce has tomato paste in it, but it definitely takes a backseat to the mustard and the rest of the competing flavors.

How To Make Just Like Sweet Baby Rays Bbq Sauce:

  • Combine the ingredients: I like to add all the ingredients in a medium saucepan along with a big splash of water and whisk until smooth.
  • Bring to a boil: Place the saucepan over the stove and allow the sauce to start bubbling before you lower the heat and continue to let it simmer for 5-7 minutes. The longer you simmer, the thicker the sauce will be. Dont panic if it isnt super thickened by the end of the cooking time. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
  • Serve: Brush the prepared sauce on meats or poultry while youre grilling. Use as a sauce on my bbq chicken pizza or in dips and dressings!

The smoked paprika is meant to give this recipe a smoky flavor, and for us, its just the right amount. I would start with 1 teaspoon and build from there based on preference!

    Sweet Baby Rays Barbecue Sauce

If youre addicted to sweets, go with Sweet Baby Rays. Its not particularly good, mind you, but at least it doesnt pretend to be something its not. Instead of attempting to mask or balance the sweetness, this sauce doubles down on it by combining high fructose corn syrup, molasses, regular corn syrup, white sugar, and pineapple juice concentrate. Honestly, the pineapple flavoring is a quite interesting addition that makes this barbecue sauce unique. If you like your barbecue sauce really, really sweet, you wont be too disappointed by this brand.

However, not only is Sweet Baby Rays Barbecue Sauce incredibly sweet, it also uses sodium benzoate as a preservative. Sodium benzoate may be linked to everything from ADHD, to obesity, allergies, and even cancer. So, if youre not concerned with that additive , and youre looking to add some exceedingly sweet barbecue sauce to your dinner plate, youve found the holy grail.

Ingredients For Homemade Sweet Baby Rays Bbq Sauce:

    • Ketchup: is the base of this recipe. Keep in mind, you want to use a ketchup that isnt too sweet here otherwise the bbq sauce will end up being extremely sweet with the addition of brown sugar and molasses. There are several brands that have no sugar added, I suggest using something like that
    • Brown sugar: adds sweetness to the sauce
    • Molasses: add both sweetness and a deep rich flavor to the sauce
    • Pineapple juice: adds a unique fruity flavor profile
    • Worcestershire sauce: adds an umami flavor to the sauce. Keep in mind that Worcestershire does make this sauce not suitable for my vegan friends. So if thats you, you might want to swap the Worcestershire for one that is vegan friendly
    • Apple cider vinegar: adds the tang that you find in bbq sauce
    • Seasonings: Theres a few select seasonings I like to use that make the best sauce! Smoked paprika is the most important one of them all. It adds so much depth of flavor. Youll also need dry mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Keep in mind that the cayenne is optional, if you want to make this not spicy, leave the cayenne out!
    • Hot sauce: adds a bit of a kick!
    • Cornstarch: helps thicken the sauce
