The Wizards Organic Vegan Worcestershire Sauce

VEGAN Worcestershire sauce for vegan steaks!! | Connie’s RAWsome kitchen

Flavor Rating: 10/10

The Wizards sauces are some of my favorite condiments of all time. The Wizards Organic Vegan Worcestershire Sauce is, by far, one of the best-tasting vegan Worcestershire sauce alternatives on the market and has a rich, smoky, savory flavor that you wont forget.

Annies Vegan Worcestershire Sauce is milder in flavor and is great for picky eaters.

However, if youre looking for the full experience with extra spice, earthiness, and an ultra-savory umami profile, The Wizards Vegan Worcestershire Sauce is the real deal.

Its made with a proprietary blend of apple cider vinegar, tamari sauce, molasses, water, agave syrup, lemon juice, salt, ginger, tamarind, chili pepper, garlic powder, shiitake mushrooms, xanthan gum, cloves, orange extract, allspice, lemon extract, onion flavor, and natural smoke flavor.

As you can see, its quite an involved recipe. The result is a smoky, rich-flavored sauce that tastes amazing on all of your favorite vegan proteins.

Another fun fact is that all of the ingredients used to make The Wizards Vegan Worcestershire Sauce are 100% organic, which is another great reason to love this product. If you like to cook with the sauce often, they also offer a large jug!

What I Like About It:

  • Made with all-organic ingredients.
  • Uses lots of different spices, herbs, and mushrooms to create a deep, rich flavor.
  • Available in small bottles and large jugs.
  • Tastes just as good as real Worcestershire sauce.

Whats Not-So-Great:

Which Aisle Or Section To Find Worcestershire Sauce In Grocery Store

The first place where you can find Worcestershire sauce in grocery store is at the condiments section. This is because in culinary terms it is actually a condiment and it will be placed next to other sauces.

If you do not find Worcestershire sauce in the above stated area then check the natural foods aisle. Some grocery stores like placing it there.

If your store has a vegan or vegetarian aisle then that is where you can find Worcestershire sauce in grocery store. The type of Worcestershire sauce in this aisle will be vegan friendly.

Store Worcestershire Sauce In The Fridge

This is actually the best method to use when storing Worcestershire sauce. This is because it really preserves the sauce for up to a year or even more. In order to store Worcestershire sauce in the fridge you need to ensure that the bottle is nicely sealed. Place it in the fridge and each time you want to use it you can always take it out.

Use Worcestershire Sauce To Make A Salad Dressing

This is one of the ways that you can use Worcestershire sauce. It will really add a nice flavour to your salad dressing. One of the most popular salad dressing that is made using Worcestershire sauce is the Caesar salad dressing. When making the salad dressing you can either opt to use the vegan Worcestershire sauce or the non-vegan one. It will definitely make your salad taste even better.

What Brands Of Worcestershire Sauce Are Vegan

The Wizard

After checking fifteen brands of Worcestershire sauce, I found that eleven were vegan. Or at least they are close enough that I would call them vegan.

For the purposes of this study, I did not count sugar or natural flavor as non-vegan. However, if youre a strict vegan who excludes those ingredients, you can choose an organic brand, since organic sugar is not filtered with animal bone char.

All brands should have a product page that describes the product, its components, and any possible allergies.

Some businesses make this extremely apparent and visible. Others are less enthusiastic. In either case, you should be able to swiftly determine whether a specific brand is safe or requires more examination.

How Do You Make Beef Broth Without Meat

To make beef broth without meat, you will need to use a beef-flavored bouillon or beef base. You will also need to add water and any other desired ingredients, such as vegetables, to the bouillon or base.

Since the beginning of recorded history, humans have been making bone broth. Chinese medicine practitioners used bone broth as far back as 2,500 years ago to help the kidneys and digestive system. As beef broth adds flavor and substance to many dishes, it is critical that its substitutes live up to these standards. Soups, white sauces, and pasta dishes typically contain chicken broth as an ingredient. Because it adds extra flavor and is excellent for most meals, vegetable broth is frequently used instead of beef broth. bouillon cubes, as the name implies, are also known as stock cubes or broth cubes. Bring it to a boil quickly with a yellow onion, a carrot, some dried or fresh mushrooms, parsley sprigs, a bay leaf, thyme, peppercorns, salt, and water, or with a potato or potato salad.

Even boiling water with chicken bouillon cubes will provide the same savory and meaty flavor that you get from cooking them in chicken bouillon cubes. Beef broth, a staple ingredient in a variety of recipes, is also a healthy substitute. With each option, you can enjoy a distinct and tasty experience.

Worcestershire Sauce Without Anchovies

Im sure that some vegetarian readers may relate when I say that being a vegetarian requires a bit of a cest la vie perspective.

When I go out to eat, I cannot always be sure that my veggie soup was not made with chicken stock.

Also, when I eat with extended family members who are die-hard meat-eaters, I sometimes have to pick pepperoni off of my pizza to create a vegetarian-friendly option.

Eating at local seafood joints, I sometimes have to scour the menu and get a bit creative to find something I can eat.

Sure, I could throw fits and become the high-maintenance stereotype, but I prefer to keep a sense of humor.

That being said, in my own home I make sure to have all the vegetarian options.

One thing that I have consistently left out of recipes, or replaced with an alternative, is Worcestershire Sauce. Youre welcome chovies!

However, recently I became obsessed with a particular recipe that, by all accounts, really does need the Worcestershire.

I have heard of vegan/vegetarian options and thought for a quick second about checking Whole Foods, but then remembered the all-too-often plot line that occurs when I go there: walk in thinking that Ill buy one quick thing, leave $90 poorer with fabulous items that I probably dont need.

So, I decided to use the wonder that is the internet and find a homemade version.

Sure enough, I had to look no further than the queen of DIY herself,

Why Most Worcestershire Sauce Is Not Vegan

Worcestershire sauce bears the name of its founding hometown in England, where chemists Lea and Perrins under their eponymous label. Today, the company remains one of the top-selling Worcestershire sauce brands worldwide. A popular ingredient in Caesar salad dressing, Bloody Mary mix, and cocktail sauce, Worcestershire sauce adds a concentrated blast of flavor to marinades, sauces, drinks, vegetables, and non-vegan meat dishes.

Lea and Perrins’ hallmark product, now produced by many different companies, possesses a full-bodied flavor profile. Worcestershire sauce derives from its unique taste from a blend of long-fermented ingredients, including several kinds of vinegar, garlic, onions, molasses, tamarind paste , and, of course, non-vegan anchovies. Along with the base ingredients, Worcestershire sauce boasts a mixture of spices that enhance the deep umami flavor , giving this sauce an irresistible combination of sweet, salty, tangy, and savory.

Most, but certainly not all, commercially available brands do contain anchovies. When the sauce appears as an ingredient in another product like an alcoholic drink or snack mix, it too likely includes anchovies. Unless the premade product or menu item calls attention to its vegan status, it’s safe to assume you can politely pass.
