Kaplan Secret Sauce Reviews
Hey yall,
About to finish studying the curriculum, after that Im hopping into hard cord review/testing mode. Anyone have any reviews on the Kaplan Schweser Secret Sauce?
@avannoord I used it previously for L1 and it worked well. However I chose not to do it for L2 simply because I created my own notes, so its up to you really. If youve your own summarized notes it may not be necessary, but if you dont have time its a useful revision material.
Theyre quite good for the purpose, summarized notes and also includes exam tips. I recommend it.
@lugnuts I found them great! Level 1 is on YouTube for free, however theyre all not completely up to date. There is not a whole lot that has changed from what I can discern so I wentwith them anyways. This is going to be the first time I have taken the CFA so I cnant tell you how well its prepares compared to other providers like Kaplan but from what I can tell Marks videos prepare you very well.

Schweser Secret Sauce Review
Is anyone currently using or has anyone used the Schweser Secret Sauce for L2? If so, have you found it useful\helpful for the cost . I am considering purchasing it as an additional last-minute study tool but I have already spent thousands for this exam. Im also going to be purchasing additional mocks, so Im becoming increasingly price sensitive.
I would highly appreciate any reviews .
If you buy it, go with the print version instead of the ebook.
I bought the ebook and the font is so tiny I can hardly read it after a long day. You can enlarge the font one page at a time. Also, you flip pages sideways rather than scrolling up and down which is more convenient.
I hated the ebook format so much I dropped another $130 + expedited shipping for the print version.
The Wiley 11th Hour Guide is about 150 pages longer and the pages are 8 1/2 x 11 in so its a much larger book. I like reviewing from the 11th Hour Guide because it offers much more explanatory text. That said, Ill be switching to SS in another week because it can be quickly read and seems to do a good job of highlighting things like model assumptions, definitions, formulas, etc. If you dont have a good understanding of the material, you might find it lacking. You probably dont need it if you took good notes. Personally, I find it comforting to know that I cart SS around 24/7. – I locked myself out of my condo earlier this week. The worst part was not having study notes while waiting for a locksmith.

Is It Worth Reading Schweser Secret Sauce
Two full days of studying left and I plan on doing a half Schweser Prac and CFA EOCs, but is it worth reading secret sauce this late and forgoing other studying? Its some 300 pages which would probably take me about 4 hours to read.

My take is no. Serect Sauce probably would have been more useful earlier in the game, youre better off now looking at covering topics you still dont get. Secret Sauce will probably not be detailed enough to help you there.

Impressive scores dude. I think youre ready. Did CFAI morning mock and got 71% but would like to be 75%+ like you.

My view is that the Secret Sauce would be a good way to consolidate the main points of Level 1 CFA just before the exam. If there are areas you dont get then it is likely that you still wont get them after another reading.
I suppose only you know best what you need most at this stage.

Newbie Question: Can I Get By With The Secret Sauce
I am registered for the Level 1 exam in December. Did some research on study materials and went with Schweser. I bought the premium package with all the lectures, books, workbooks, etc. Do I really need all that study material? I know it depends on your background and experience. I have an undergrad in Finance and masters in Finance. I also have a CPA. Ive seen this material many times during my educational and certification studies.

Secret sauce isnt condensed. Its like note cards. Based on what I saw on my test a month ago, the secret sauce is def. not enough. Seems your trying to avoid putting a lot of time into studying. I dont think this is a good mindset.
