Lamberts Sweet Rub O Mine
Why youll love it:
Ending us off today is another good sweet rub. It has a minimum of additives, which is nice, though does include MSG. As mentioned above, artificial flavor enhancers like MSG are a bit of a dealbreaker for some people. If you have a sensitivity to MSG or just dont like ingesting chemicals like it for whatever reason, stay far away from this one.
The other ingredients are pretty good though. Youve got a solid mix of turbinado sugar, salt, dehydrated onion, dehydrated garlic, evaporated cane juice, chili pepper, mustard flour, and a few other spices. Plus a few things that are there just to deepen the color.
All in all this rub is good, and comes in at a very decent price, but it suffers just for not being very unique. Everything in it, save maybe the turbinado sugar as opposed to other sugar variants, can be found in a thousand other BBQ rubs just like it. The ingredients are quality, but theres simply nothing that makes this rub stand out from the crowd.
What we didnt like
- Not very uniquein either flavor or ingredient quality.
- Some people have a sensitivity to MSG that could make this an undesirable rub.
What Kind Of Bbq Sauce Is Best For Ribs
BBQ sauce is a cooking sauce that is used to season meats or vegetables before they are cooked. There are many different types of BBQ sauce, but some of the most popular types are tomato paste, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and Memphis hot Sauce.
Each type of BBQ sauce has its own unique flavor andaruption. For ribs, a tomato paste BBQ sauce is the best option because it has a strong flavor and can be used to coat the meat evenly.

Dirt Sasquatch Bbq Espresso Chile Beef Rub
Why youll love it:
This is a really interesting and unique one. Its a specialized beef rub with a really nice earthy flavor, and very simple all natural ingredients with no fillers, something this rub really prides itself on.
Youre looking at a concise mix of brown sugar, espresso powder, activated charcoal, salt, and a few other spices like black pepper.
This makes for a very interesting flavor on meat, especially beef, but also pork. I wouldnt really recommend it for chicken, unfortunately the flavors a bit too rich and would overpower the light taste of chicken or fish.
But on that beef? Its really good. Espresso is a really interesting seasoning for a lot of things, because it acts more as a flavor enhancer than something that really stands out on its own. This makes the other, subtler flavors like the sugar and charcoal stand out a bit more, as well as anything else youd like to put it in, including spicier flavors if your tastes trend that way.
While not what Id call an everyday spice, this stuff is really nice to have around the house to experiment with, and is sure to get people commenting on your food once you start working with it.
What we liked
- Great flavor works as an excellent enhancer to other spices or the meats natural flavors.
- Really unique and interesting flavor profile.
- Really good price for the amount.
- All natural flavors with no filler.
What we didnt like
- Works great for beef and pork, but overpowers chicken and fish.

Also, youâll need to determine your preferred flavor, whether smokey like the Traeger âQue BBQ sauce, sweet like the Sweet Baby Rayâs barbecue sauce, or spicey like the Head Country Bar-B-Q sauce. Eventually, you should choose based on your preferred flavor because that will determine the taste of your barbecue.
How Long To Cook Bbq Chicken
Whether you cook this BBQ chicken on the grill or in the oven, youll want to cook the chicken nearly all the way through before adding the BBQ sauce at the end. Sauces like BBQ sauce contain a fair amount of sugar that can easily burn. Adding the sauce at the end and searing quickly minimizes the chance of it burning.

Prepare clean grill grates to minimize sticking and preheat the grill at 400-450°F. Drizzle the chicken breasts with olive or canola oil and season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Arrange the breasts on the hot grill grates and cook for 4-6 minutes with the lid closed. If the chicken sticks to the grill grate, let it cook a minute more before trying to flip again. Cook on the second side for another 4-5 minutes. Baste with your favorite BBQ sauce, flip, and cook for 1-2 minutes more. Repeat on the other side side. The chicken is done when the internal temp is 160°F and the juices run clear. Let the chicken rest a few minutes for the temp to raise to 165°F and the juices to settle before serving.

Imported from the holy land of cue the United States it has all that big flavour you want in a barbecue sauce, packing lots of zing to balance out the sweetness, and with rich spicing from cinnamon and cumin. With so much flavour, it can stand up to big cuts of meat and lots of charcoal smoke, even when used sparingly. In other words, this is a sauce that wont shrink into the background. No wonder its such a favourite in the US, where the real pitmaster Stubb, whose face adorns the bottle, perfected both his barbecuing craft and this belter of a condiment.

Is Msg Bad For You
No more than most other foods, really. MSG in and of itself is not really very harmful. What it is is harmful in very high dosesbut so is ingesting way too much salt.
I bring it up because quite a lot of savory rubs use MSG to enhance the savory or umami flavors in the other ingredients.
One last thing thats worth noting: some people have adverse reactions to MSG. For that reason Ill bring it up whenever one of these rubs includes it or a similar chemical. While the chemical itself is relatively safe, its similar to an allergen some people should watch out for, as it can cause asthma attacks or headache sin some individuals.

This sauce is a tasty, low-calorie, smoky option with only 10 calories per serving. There’s no added sugar either, thanks to allulose.
“Allulose is a rare sugar found in raisins and figs and with 90% fewer calories than sucrose that won’t increase blood sugar or insulin, so it’s a win-win,” says Lauren Harris-Pincus, MS, RDN, author of The Protein-Packed Breakfast Club. “I love it on shrimp, chicken, salmon, or a veggie or turkey burger. It’s also great for pulled pork or chicken or to dress a cabbage slaw or grilled veggies.”
