Creamy Fettuccine Cauliflower Alfredo is absolutely rich and bursting with flavor, gluten-free, and a healthier recipe of a classic comfort food dish!

Creamy Fettuccine Cauliflower Alfredo is one of those recipes you say really?

And I can tell you, really. This sauce is so close to the higher fat version filled with butter and cream, you really cant tell! But, since this recipe it is made with healthy ingredients like c-a-u-l-i-f-l-o-w-e-r and a plant-based milk, I was more than a bit skeptical.

One of my top goals for this website is to share healthier comfort food recipes. More indulgent straight up classic comfort foods will always be here, but lets admit we all need to lighten things up and eat well.

This post is sponsored by Good Karma Foods. All opinions are my own.

Healthier Alfredo sauce goals are possible! Once the blender stops, just know that the taste and texture of this alfredo sauce is absolutely right, creamy, and full of flavor. I licked the spoon over and over, for real. Yum!

Amp Up Your Jarred Alfredo Sauce

If you own an Instant Pot , you can make this chicken Alfredo tonight. Youll cook the chicken for a few minutes on sauté, add a jar of Alfredo sauce and some water, toss in the halved fettuccini noodles, then bring the whole thing up to pressure.

To amp up the flavor of the jarred Alfredo sauce, youll add a healthy dose of garlic to the chicken while it cooks, then a handful of grated Parmesan cheese and some chopped fresh parsley at the end just before serving.

Where Does Pasta Alfredo Come From

A Taste of Home Cooking: Foodbuzz Tastemaker

Apparently the well loved fettuccine Alfredo pasta dish originates from Rome, where a man named Alfredo created a dish consisting of fettuccine, butter and parmesan for his pregnant wife. Over the years, the Americanized version of this sauce became richer and creamier and is now often paired with meat.

Whether or not this story is true, no one can deny how comforting and incredibly delicious alfredo pasta truly is! And while a made-from-scratch version of the classic Italian dish will always be best, sometimes were short on time or we just dont feel like cooking. When you need a home-cooked meal on the table with minimal effort, this easy baked chicken pasta casserole comes to the rescue! Best of all, its made in one dish from start to finish, so you dont even have many dishes to wash at the end.

Can You Put Frozen Chicken In The Slow Cooker

I get this question often so I like to answer it. The best answer is no, you shouldnt put frozen chicken in a slow cooker. A slow cooker is just that, a slow cooker. It doesnt bring meat up to a safe temperature quickly enough to start from frozen. People do it often and Im sure its sometimes fine, but its safest to only use thawed chicken in the crock pot.

Brands Of Alfredo Sauce In A Jar

Next time you go to the grocery store, peruse the Italian sauce aisle. Youll see some national brands, such as Bertolli Alfredo sauce, Raos homemade Alfredo sauce, Classico Alfredo sauce, Ragu Alfredo sauce, and generic store brands of Alfredo sauce. Ive found that these are all Alfredo sauces of good quality.

Based on my experience, theyre all delicious, even though they all taste different. I recommend trying all of them one at a time, of course.

Many of the brands offer a choice between creamy white sauce and tomato sauce based Italian sauce. You can also find more specific flavors, such as the creamy basil Alfredo from Bertolli.

My personal favorite is typically the one thats on sale because I know that Ill be making it my own sauce after adding a bunch of delicious ingredients.

Can You Substitute Milk For Heavy Cream In Alfredo Sauce

Over the years, the recipe has been adapted, and its often made with heavy cream. But Alfredo sauce without heavy cream can be made, and it can be tasty. Milk can be used in place of heavy cream to make a white sauce, and the combination can be a lighter sauce that doesnt have all the calories of the original.

How To Make Classic Chicken Alfredo Pasta: The Easiest Simplest Method

Chicken Alfredo pasta was my favorite fancy restaurant order as a kid luxe sauce clinging to fettuccine topped with crispy chicken. It was about as close to macaroni and cheese and chicken fingers as a 6-year-old could get at any good Italian-American restaurant. Perhaps this is why most takeout Alfredo falls short for me its too entwined in my own culinary memories. Or it could just be that the rich sauce gets too cold and clumpy while waiting for delivery.

Hellbent on enjoying my childhood favorite from the comfort of my own couch, I set out to recreate the Alfredo of my memory . Weve eschewed the authentic no cream Alfredo for a reliable take on this classic thats just as creamy, garlic-rich, and fun to slurp up as you remember.

Can You Add Cornstarch To Alfredo Sauce

To make a cornstarch slurry, whisk together equal parts of cornstarch and waterabout two tablespoons of each from there, add a teaspoon or two at a time. Start by whisking just two teaspoons of the slurry into the sauce, let it come to a boil, which will activate the starch, and then add more if needed.

How To Thin Out Alfredo Sauce

If you prefer a thinner Alfredo sauce, there are some easy ways to thin it out. A lot depends on how creamy you want it.

Here are some ways you can thin out Alfredo sauce:

  • Add milk. I recommend doing this very slowly, just a couple of tablespoons at a time.
  • Use some of the pasta water from the noodles. The starch from the pasta will help keep some of the body and prevent it from being too watery.
  • Add chicken broth, beef stock, or vegetable broth. Again, I recommend adding just a little at a time, until you get the consistency you want.
  • You can also add water, but that waters down some of the flavor. You might need to add more seasonings if you choose water.

Step 1: In a large saucepan, add 1 quart of water. When the water is boiling, add 1 package of fettuccine pasta.

Step 2: This will take 12 minutes to 15 minutes. When done, drain and set aside.

Directions For How To Make Jar Alfredo Sauce Better

Im sure there are plenty of ways to do this, but Ive found this to be the easiest way. Feel free to switch out the ingredients to ones you prefer.

I believe that the best flavors are the ones you and your family like. I also highly recommend choosing just a few of the above ingredients to test the first few times.

Pour the jar of Alfredo sauce into a medium saucepan and turn the burner to medium-high heat. As soon as you see a couple of bubbles, turn it down to medium-low heat.

Now start adding the ingredients you like. I highly recommend sautéing the onions if you choose chopped onions as one of the ingredients because that brings out the flavor.

I used all dried seasonings because thats what I had. But if you have access to fresh ingredients, I highly recommend using those.

My pepper mill is still packed , so I used already ground pepper. Fresh ground pepper is much better. Or you can use white pepper.

I added chopped chicken that I cooked earlier to make chicken Alfredo. If you dont have fresh cooked chicken, you can use the canned version. After its added to the cream sauce with the other ingredients, you probably wont be able to tell the difference.

As you add ingredients, you may want to turn the burner up to medium heat to keep the sauce hot. After everything has been added and the flavors have blended, its time to serve it.
