Its a wonderful chance to get our brand out there, said Jerome Brown, creator of the sauce. Weve earned it by creating a product that the public enjoys and we plan to do well with the opportunity.
Brown classifies the sauce as a southern-style mustard sauce. It was available to sample Friday at the Busch Drive location. Jerome, wife Joanne and daughter Katrina dished out samples of the sauce with chicken and pork for most of the afternoon. The half gallon jugs of Jerome Browns Original Bar-B-Q Sauce will be available at the Busch Drive, Youngerman Circle and Beach Boulevard locations.
Brown wasnt actively approaching stores about stocking his sauce, but he was invited to a business expo consisting of Sams Club members and decided to take advantage of the opportunity.
They are held to allow Sams Club members to see what business services are available to them through the store, said Kristina Johnson, marketing manager for the Busch Drive store.

Mrs. Griffins, the Macon- and mustard-based barbecue sauce, is expanding its market, with Sams Club adding it to eight new stores, including three in Florida.
For a small business like us, this is huge, said owner Roland Neel.
Mrs. Griffins shipped its first pallets of the sauce to the new Sams locations Wednesday afternoon. The Florida locations are Pensacola, Panama City and Tallahassee.
We had some distribution down there , but never through something like a Sams Club, Neel said.
The new Georgia stores include Sams sites in Augusta, Savannah, Pooler, Morrow and Peachtree City. The sauce is also carried at Sams stores in Macon, Albany, Valdosta and McDonough.
When I first bought the company about two years ago, we were in one Macon, Neel said.
Mrs. Griffins has been made in Macon for more than 75 years. Its carried on the shelves in Kroger, Ingles, Food Lion, Wal-Mart, Harveys and other grocers from just south of Atlanta to Florida.
Neel said the company has done research that shows Mrs. Griffins is the third-oldest commercially sold barbecue sauce in the country.
Were the oldest in the South, where barbecue sauce really matters, Neel said.
