Spicy Sweet Asian Sauce Low Carb Keto Condiment Chili Sauce Recipe Saucy Sunday

To make the base of the dipping sauce, add water and low carb sweetener to a small saucepan and heat until the sweetener has dissolved. Set aside to cool.

Roughly chop half a red bell pepper and place it in a small blender , together with garlic paste, salt, and half the sweetened water. Blend until only tiny pieces of pepper remain .

Add lemon juice, fish sauce, and the remaining water. Blend again and give it a taste test you may prefer a touch more lemon, or salt, or even fish sauce to get that perfect blend of sweet and sour.

Finally, sprinkle some xanthan gum over the sauce, and give it a final whizz. This will immediately thicken up the sauce no cooking required. Xanthan gum is a really handy zero carb thickener that is useful for all kinds of things!

Transfer the sauce to a bowl, cover, and store in the fridge for up to a week. It freezes well, too!

Oh, and if you want to make it a spicy low carb Thai dipping sauce, you have several options. You could blend a fresh chili pepper with the bell peppers, or you could add some hot sauce, or even a few shakes of red pepper flakes!

I appreciate the idea for making the chicken rollups, but what I really wanted to know was how you made the “Sweet Chili Sauce”. Was disappointed to find that there was no recipe for it, but a link to Amazon to a commercial one. The advertised sauce contains: rice vinegar, water, allulose, fiber syrup, garlic, red chili, xanthan gum, and salt. It might be alright for some, but most have found that fiber syrup raises blood sugar more than table sugar does and knocks them out of ketosis. Would love to see a recipe for a good sweet chili sauce.

Best Authentic Results With My Paleo Fried Chicken Recipe

You know that new Keto Paleo Fried Chicken recipe I uploaded a couple of days ago? That day, after making the recipe, I actually made this low carb gluten free and sugar free Sweet Chili Chicken with the paleo fried chicken because I knew it would be amazing!!

The batter that I used to coat this paleo fried chicken actually absorbs sauces so well that it goes extremely well in dishes like this! You can also use the batter for my Keto Fried Chicken recipe, which is made with whey protein powder instead of egg white powder if dairy doesn’t affect you.

It went really well with the Japanese tartar sauce, really well dipped in a simple garlic aioli and even better in an Asian sauce like this! Next time, I’ll try to make a low carb teriyaki sauce with it and see how it goes.

What Sides Go With Calamari

Calamari is typically served as a stand-along type of appetizer.

However, if youre making a full meal out of this dish, here are some nice sides to accompany squid:

  • Pickled banana peppers
  • Add egg and cream to a large bowl and whisk. Set aside.
  • Add almond flour, Old Bay and rinds to a plate.

Air Fryer

  • Dredge calamari rings and peppers in dairy mixture, then rinds/flour mixture. Only air fry one layer at a time.
  • Air fry at 400°F for 10-14 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.


  • Batter as usual, but bake them at 400°F for 10 minutes, flipping halfway, and then baking for another 5 to 10 minutes.

Pan Fry

  • Batter the calamari rings as usual, but cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes prior to frying in the pan.
  • Heat 2-3 inches of oil in a large pot to at least 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Add rings, one at a time to the pot. Remove after a few minutes, when golden brown.

Sweet Chili Sauce Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients in small pot over high heat and bring to a boil, stirring frequently with a whisk. Remove.

How To Make Keto Coconut Shrimp

Keto Sweet Chili Sauce Recipe [+Video]

Making the ultimate Keto Coconut Shrimp is easy and just requires a little preparation.

First, you need create three separate bowls for the breading process. The first bowl includes a mixture of almond flour and seasoning. This includes salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. A thin coating of this mixture helps provide just a little extra flavor that doesnt overpower the coconut or dipping sauce.

The second bowl consists of beaten eggs. The egg locks in the flavor from the first breading and it also helps the coconut mixture stick. The last bowl is filled with a coconut flake mixture with a small amount of almond flour and sweetener.

The breading process can get a little messy. Through trial and error, Ive discovered a few tricks to make this process a little less messy. The most life-changing tip is to use the shrimp tails to hold onto while dipping the shrimp. This is especially important when dipping the shrimp into the egg mixture.

After dipping the shrimp into the egg, make sure theres no excess egg attached. Any excess can make the final coconut mixture crumbly and eggy. If you notice this happening, you can separate the coconut mixture in half and set aside one half until youve used up the first half. This will prevent the entire mixture from becoming eggy and unusable.

How To Make Sugar Free Sweet Chilli Sauce

1.) Chop the red chilli, ginger and garlic. Add them to a pan together with the apple cider vinegar, coconut aminos and powdered sweetener.

2.) Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and let the mix bubble away on a low heat for 5 minutes.

Mix the hot water with the xanthan gum. Blend well so there are no lumps. Add to the pan and cook for another 5 minutes or until the desired consistency is reached.

Be aware that the sauce will thicken further while it cools. Fill into a clean glass jar and let cool.

How To Make Sweet Chili Sauce Keto Friendly

Start by dicing up the peppers and grating the ginger and the garlic.

Then, in a pan on high heat, add the vinegar, sweetener, and coconut aminos.

Next, add the chili peppers, ginger, and garlic. Bring the mixture a boil and allow to boil without burning for 2 minutes.

Lower the heat and allow to simmer for another 2 minutes.

While the spicy sweet chili is simmering dissolve xanthan gum into hot water. I heated up the water in this glass measuring cup in the microwave for 1 minute.

Do your best to dissolve the xanthan gum into hot water.

Then, add water xanthan gum mixture into the pan with chilli sauce.

Dissolve the xanthan gum as much as possible into the mixture.

Take the chili sauce off the heat and allow to cool before canning.

Homemade Thai Sweet Chili Sauce

  • 100gbig chilliscoarsely chopped
  • 10gbird’s eye chilliadjust according to tolerance of spicinesscoarsely chopped
  • 5clovesof garliccoarsely chopped
  • 100gsugar or equivalent sweetener
  • 200mlwater
  • 15mlapple cider vinegar or equivalent
  • 5gsalt
  • Coarsely chop chillis and garlic, transfer to food processor
  • Pulse a few times until well chopped.
  • Bring a pot of water to boil over stove fire
  • Add in chillis and garlic. Boil for 3 minutes
  • Add in sweetener, vinegar, salt and potato starch mixture
  • Stir a while to reach the slight thick consistency
  • Cool completely and store in fridge for up to 1 month

The great thing about making your own sugar free sweet chili sauce at home, is that there are no preservatives like the ones in the store.

You can really control the sugar content in the sweet chili sauce. In this recipe, I swerve and stevia because I love the sweetness without using sugar. You could leave out the sweetener if you wanted and just make it chili sauce.

  • ¼ cup sweetner of your choice
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ tsp xantum gum
  • Place all ingredients except the xantum gum in a sauce pan. Bring to a rolling boil.
  • Reduce heat to medium and let boil for 10 minutes, or until reduced by half.
  • Remove from the heat and sprinkle the xantum gum over the mixture very quickly.
  • Stir to incorporate and continue stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens .

    Sweet chili sauce is a common Asian dipping sauce found often in Thailand. Called nam chim kai, its a syrupy texture and sweet with a medium spice. You can buy it bottled, but Ive yet to find any that are not packed with sugar.

    That to me is a challenge! Dont go without but make your own. Its really not very difficult and makes a huge difference in flavor. Also, the bonus is when you make your own you dont need preservatives or long names of ingredients you cant pronounce.

    In addition, its easy to alter the sweetness and/or spiciness to your preference!

    How To Can Chili Sauce

    Sugar Free Sweet Chili Sauce

    Place a canning jar rack in the bottom of a tall pot, like a stock pot.

    The canning jar rack keeps the bottoms of the jars elevated off the bottom of the pot so that the jars dont bang together possibly causing them to break. th

    Add enough water to cover the jars.

    Turn on the heat.

    Place the round canning lids on the jars. You can use the magnetic lid wand to make it easier.

    What Makes These Awesome

    In short, I love these sticky wings because they have all of the flavor while cutting carbs.

    Specifically, the sweet chili sauce is sweet and spicy with traditional ingredients like sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic chili sauce, and ginger.

    However, I made these keto-friendly by replacing the most notorious sources of carbs and sugar in Asian dishes, brown sugar, and cornstarch, with low-carb, all-natural substitutes.

    Keto/ Sugar Free Sweet Chili Sauce

    • 1/2cupwater
    • 1/2cupwhite or rice vinegar
    • 1/3cupsweetner preferably Xylitolyou can use any other sweetener if you have pets. Swerve & monk fruit work well.
    • 2tablespoonssambal olek chili paste
    • 1/2teaspoonxanthan gum
    • Mix water, vinegar, sweetener and chili paste in a sauce pan.
    • Bring to a boil and add the xanthan gum.
    • Whisk until the sauce thickens.
    • Cool completely and store in a glass jar or bottle in the fridge.

    Process The Filled Jars

    It is time to load up the jars onto the rack and lower it into the water bath.

    There should be at least 1 inch of water above the top of the jars. You can use a tea kettle or tea pot filled with hot water to accomplish this.

    In order to protect the jars from breaking, there should be at least 1/2 inch of space between the jars.

    Turn up the heat, and bring the water to a full rolling boil. Put the lid on the pot.

    Set the timer for 10 minutes once the water is at a full boil.
