What Do I Serve The Alfredo With
While alfredo is typically served with fettuccine noodles, theyre not my fave anyway so I use any other noodle. Spaghetti, penne, rotini, or any other shaped pasta that you can find gluten free will work just fine.
A couple years ago I started making Blackened Chicken Alfredo and its become a real family favorite. Using store-bought blackening seasoning, coat boneless, skinless chicken breasts and saute them for about 15-20 minutes in a little butter and/or olive oil. Slice them into thin strips and add them to a plate of alfredo pasta. You can also add sauteed broccoli and/or spinach.
If youve ever been to the Rainforest Cafe, they have this wonderful dish called Rasta Pasta. Its loaded with chicken strips, broccoli, red peppers, and spinach. The sauce is a mixture of basil pesto and alfredo sauce. If youve never tried this combo, youre in for a treat because its incredible!! Just add equal parts basil pesto and this alfredo sauce to hot pasta, toss, and serve with veggies and meat .
But pasta isnt the only thing you can serve this alfredo with! Remember those Olive Garden Style Breadsticks I made a few months back??? My absolute favorite thing to do with alfredo sauce is dip breadsticks in it!! It is SO GOOD!!!
Ingredients In One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
Chicken broth. I like to use chicken broth over chicken stock here for a more mild flavor. Try to buy low-sodium chicken broth so you can control the amount of salt in the garlic parmesan pasta.
Milk. Any kind of milk will do. I used 2% milk, but whole milk or skim will also work.
Pasta. For this particular garlic parmesan pasta, Id highly recommend using angel hair pasta. It cooks quickly and, as written, soaks up the perfect amount of chicken broth and milk to achieve a perfectly creamy consistency.
Garlic. Two medium cloves of garlic, grated. I like to grate the garlic so its evenly dispersed in the garlic parmesan pasta. Also, because the cook time is short, grating the garlic helps to cook out the raw garlic flavor.
Parmesan cheese. I dont want this garlic parmesan pasta to taste like an Alfredo sauce, so a little bit of parmesan goes a long way. All I want is just a HINT of cheese and a salty, nutty bite.
Butter. All you need is just a touch of butter, one tablespoon. It gives the garlic parmesan pasta a velvety, creamy finish I adore. You can use salted or unsalted butter.
Parsley. For a little freshness, I like to add a handful of finely chopped parsley. If parsley isnt your thing, feel free to omit it.
Salt and pepper. As always, salt and pepper dont count as ingredient, but in a simple recipe like garlic parmesan pasta, you really want to season it properly.

How To Make One Pot Garlic Parmesan Pasta
Ok guys, this does not get any simpler. Heres what you have to do:
Cook the noodles. Add the chicken broth, milk, and salt to a medium saucepan. Bring it up to a boil. Break the angel hair in half and add it to the boiling liquid. Use tongs to evenly disperse the noodles in the broth and milk. Boil for one minute. Reduce the heat to a simmer.
Simmer the noodles until aldente, about 7-8 minutes. Use the tongs to make sure the noodles arent sticking together and give it a stir. You want to do this every 2 minutes or so.
Add the rest of the ingredients. Once the noodles are aldente and most of the liquid as been soaked up by the noodles, add the parmesan cheese, butter, and parsley. Use the tongs to combine. If needed, add a little bit more chicken stock to loosen up the sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
Its that easy. And I cant echo this enough, its SO delicious. So simple, but just so addictive.
How Do You Cook The Perfect Pasta
First of all, always be sure that your water is salted. You want the water to have plenty of salt so that your pasta is well seasoned when it comes out of the pot. The pasta should be cooked to al dente which is tender, but firm.
This is one of the easiest dinners you will make. Its perfect for the warmer months as well because it involves very little time over the hot stove but is hearty enough for the biggest appetites. I know Ill be making this shrimp alfredo pasta all the time now that my family fell in love with it!
