What Is In A Rainbow Roll
Rainbow roll is a type of uramaki sushi roll filled with cucumber, avocado and crab stick. It is prepared with multiple types of fish, most commonly tuna, salmon, white fish, yellowtail, snapper, and eel. Rainbow roll is quite similar to California roll, with the addition of tuna, salmon and avocado.
Homemade Yum Yum Sauce
*It is important here to use real mayonnaise. Although I did try to make yum yum sauce with miracle whip spread, the taste wasnt the same. Therefore, I definitely would recommend using pure mayonnaise in this recipe.
** Now just a quick word about the cayenne pepper. The addition of cayenne pepper helps balance the tart flavor of the mayonnaise and the sweetness of the sugar. Dont worry, it doesnt taste spicy at all.
However, if I know that I am serving it to those who like things a little hotter, I will add a little extra cayenne pepper to give it more of a kick.
And as for the paprika dont be afraid to try smoked paprika in this recipe if you have it on hand. The smoky flavor adds an additional layer of depth to this recipe.
The directions to make yum yum sauce couldnt be easier. Simply put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix together.
However, it is best to let the sauce sit covered in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. In fact, I prefer to make it the night before so the flavors have plenty of time to meld.
The sauce will stay good in the refrigerator for 2 weeks. Therefore, dont be afraid it make it every few weeks. It is great not only for Hibachi chicken and steak. In fact, we use it as a spread for sandwiches, wraps and as a dip for shrimp and veggies!

Dumplings And Potstickers: Wealth
The first foods we want to cover are dumplings and potstickers because they are beloved dishes that anyone from anywhere will enjoy. The reason that dumplings are a lucky food for Chinese New Year is because they symbolize wealth. Why? They look like boat-shaped Chinese gold and silver ingots!
The idea is that the more dumplings you eat during the Spring Festival, the more money you may make throughout the year.
Our delicious potstickers filled with spiced ground pork are impressive while not being intimidating. You see, our recipe includes a short video to show you exactly how to form the potstickers so you can say goodbye to the anxiety and just enjoy the process. We then have you pan-fry and steam the potstickers on the stovetop and serve them with a homemade sweet chili dipping sauce and side of Szechuan green beans with red pepper flakes and toasted sesame oil. If that isnt yum, we dont know what is.
Here are a couple tips for making and serving your potstickers lucky-style this Chinese New Year:
- Make sure to get in a good number of pleats as you close the wrappers. If they end up too flat, it is thought to bring on poverty.
- Even though arranging dumplings in circles can look cool, some believe it means your life wont go anywhere and will go around in circles instead. So opt for a sleek line of dumplings!

What Does Cream Of Tartar Do In Icing
Cream of tartar is a stiffening agent for making icings and meringues. The same acidic powder that leavens during baking prevents the crystallization and hardening of the sugar when making icing for the cake. However, bakers also use cream of tartar to make hardened cake icing or the really hard royal icing.
The Hoisin Yum Yum Sauce
Now, you guys, I had a hard time deciding between a bang bang sauce or a yum yum sauce for this recipe. I knew I wanted a sauce with an asian flare, so I dove into the differences between the two.
Basically bang bang sauce uses chili-garlic sauce and sriracha flavors and yum yum sauce is more of a mayo base with tomato paste/ketchup. Both sauces are a little sweet with a touch of spice.

How To Get Cauliflower Bites Crispy
There are basically two ways you can make this recipe.
- You can individually dip each cauliflower floret into the oil then drench through the breadcrumbs
- Or you can combine the cauliflower into a large zip lock bag and pour in ingredients.
I’ll explain how to do both of them in the recipe card. I prefer the first method to individually dip each cauliflower floret. Although this will take an extra 3-4 minutes to do, I think it’s worth it to ensure that each cauliflower bite is evenly breaded and crispy.

Tang Yuan Rice Balls: Reunion
Another food you definitely want to put on your Chinese New Year food list for this Year of the Tiger is tang yuan black sesame filled sweet rice balls that are typically served in a sweet soup. These little balls of joy symbolize a happy family reunion because their name sounds like a Chinese phrase for reunion and togetherness. Plus, they have that harmonious circle shape. Yum Yum Sauce Ingredients
- Mayonnaise Youll want to use a full fat mayonnaise for the truest flavor. This is meant to be a very rich sauce.
- Butter Make sure your butter is very soft or even melted, but not hot. If you start with butter that is too firm you will end up with butter chunks in the sauce.
- Ketchup I know Im going to get the side eye from several people over this ingredient, but trust me, it works. Most white sauce recipes call for a combination of tomato paste and sugar this is just a simple shortcut to that same result.
- Seasoned Salt You can find seasoned salt on the spice aisle usually on a shelf near the salt and pepper.
- Paprika Paprika is what give this sauce its orange-ish pink color, it also adds a lot of great flavor, so dont skip it! You can use plain paprika or smoked paprika.
How Do I Make Vegan Yum Yum Sauce
To eat healthier, making your own condiments at home is not only simple, but its also beneficial to your overall health. For example, this homemade vegan cashew mayo recipe takes 5 minutes to make and only has a few ingredients.
Although store-bought vegan condiments are readily available, store-bought condiments are processed. For instance, Vegenaise is a very popular plant-based mayonnaise, which I often used when I first transitioned to plant-based eating.
When I first started eating plant-based, I embraced anything with a vegan label but later realized vegan processed food is not much different than other processed foods. Similarly, all processed food is created equal regardless if its vegan or not.

What Is Yumm Sauce Made Of
- Almond Flour. I use the Bobs Red Mill brand and it is fairly easy to find in the baking aisle of the grocery store. If you cant find almond flour you can use 1/4 cup of almonds. Almond flour will give you a creamier sauce.
- Nutritional Yeast. This can be a bit harder to find but Trader Joes or Whole Foods carries it and you can find it on Amazon.
- Oil. Use a light flavored oil such as avocado oil or canola oil.
- Chickpeas or Garbanzo beans. I used the canned variety
- Soybeans. Canned soybeans can be tricky to find so you can just substitute with more garbanzo beans.
- Lemon juice. Fresh squeezed
- Seasoning. Salt, curry powder, oregano, dried cilantro
I found this copy cat recipe over at food.com and it tastes pretty much just like the real thing! Now some of the ingredients are ones that are not usually found in your average kitchen pantry but a quick trip to Whole Foods or an order on Amazon and you will have what you need.

What Is Taco Seasoning
Whats in taco seasoning? If youre doing it right, its basically just a bunch of Mexican spices mixed together.
Most commonly, the main spices in taco seasoning are:
- Chili powder
- Onion powder
- Cayenne pepper
The main differences in homemade taco seasoning mix recipes are the ratios, and a few of the seasoning options.
For example, some skip paprika altogether. I actually have not seen smoked paprika in a taco seasoning, but always use it in mine because I believe it tastes better. Feel free to use regular paprika if you want to.
The dried oregano can be replaced with coriander or dried cilantro, if you prefer those.
Finally, sea salt is optional depending on if you want a salty taco seasoning or not. Ill explain more about that shortly.
But first, can I just tell you how much I love using this keto taco seasoning in recipes?
My healthy taco salad recipe is one of the most popular recipes on this low carb blog, and my all-time favorite way to use low carb taco seasoning.
Of course, taco seasoning is also delicious in actual tacos. Wrap the meat along with taco fillings in some low carb coconut flour tortillas, and youre good to go!
