Hottest Takis Ever Challenge – Parents Edition (Do Not Try) 6 Hot Sauces

For sure. We have made this hot sauce with both Ghost Peppers and Carolina Reapers. It would work fine for most spicy peppers. So, if you want to use habaneros, they should be fine. Use your best judgment on the size and adjust accordingly. Some Jalapeno peppers are really big and three times the size of a Reaper or Habenero. Adjust accordingly.

Dragon In The Clouds 1000000 Shus

Moving into the 7-digit SHU level of heat, the unique Hot Ones / 88 Rising collaboration brought us Dragon In The Clouds in 2019. This hot sauce is unique, but also bizarre and difficult to pair with food. It is brutally spicy thanks to Ghost chiles, and has a bitter, citrusy zest from yuzu.

Basically, we tried the sauce, and that was about the end of its use. Weve heard from some readers that they enjoy the unique flavor, but it just wasnt for us. Especially considering the aggressive heat.

Dragon In The Clouds hot sauce is no joke. Though we have been unable to find an official heat level for the sauce, we assume it comes in right around the 1 million SHU mark on the Scoville scale. Given that the first ingredient is ghost pepper, the sauce most likely hits that mark. It sure feels like it does

Cajohns Magma Hot Sauce

Heat Level: 1 million SHUs

If you like your hot sauce with a bit of showmanship, pick up Magma. The suspended oleoresin of capsicum forms a red-hot blob within the clear vinegar base, reminiscent of the once mighty lava lamp. Shake it to incorporate the heat, and tone down the burn to an acceptable level, like a full three steps back from a jet engines exhaust. Buy It

How Long Will My Carolina Reaper Hot Sauce Keep

This hot sauce should keep a few months easily in the fridge, or even longer. Its all about the acidity. To be technical, target level pH for shelf stable foods is below 4.6 pH, but should probably be lower for home cooks, around 3.5 or so, to account for errors. This particular sauce measured 4.3 pH for me, so if youd like it to last even longer, add more vinegar or a citrus to lower the pH. Sauces made with fermented chili peppers will last even longer.

The best ph meters that I recommend are from Thermoworks. Get yourself a ph meter from Thermoworks today. I am a happy affiliate.

Wicked Reaper: 22 Million Scoville Units

This sauce is made from the Carolina Reaper and, at 2.2 million Scoville units, it is severely hot. According to the label, the fiery burn lasts more than five minutes. One Amazon customer said it has a decent amount of heat and tastes great like a tropical day at the beach in South Florida with a mojito in hand, just relaxing when the euphoria kicks in. On the contrary, another said he tried one drop on a tortilla chip and OH MY GOD! VERY VERY HOT hottest thing Ive ever eaten took a good 20 to 30 minutes to recover. When you purchase this bottle off Amazon, you get six whole dried Carolina Reaper peppers too, so good luck.

Homemade Carolina Reaper Hot Sauce Recipe

Whats in the Box – Hot Sauce Challenge ! || Challenge Chips Ep3 || Konas2002
  • First, heat your oven to 400 degrees. Set 8 ounces of Carolina Reaper peppers, 1 heat of garlic and halved onion on a baking sheet. Bake them for 15-20 minutes, or until the skins slightly char. Keep an eye on these. You dont want them to burn, and watch out for any fumes. You may want to turn on the oven fan and open some windows. See my safety notes below.
  • Add the peppers and onion to a food processor. Squeeze garlic out of their skins and into the food processor they go.
  • Add in the vinegar and salt. Process until you get a chunky mixture. Watch out for the fumes!
  • Add in a half cup of water and process again until the sauce starts to smooth out. Check it for thickness. If youd like a thinner sauce, add in a bit more water a little at a time, processing, until you reach your desired consistency.
  • If desired, you can strain the sauce to smooth it out, or use it as-is. If you do strain it, you can discard the pulp or dehydrate it to make a superhot seasoning powder.
  • Pour into sterilized bottles and enjoy. The longer you let it sit, the more the flavors will meld.
  • Thats it, my friends! This is pretty much the hottest sauce around. It will truly bring on the heat! Go for it, you crazy chilihead, you! I know you love cooking with hot peppers.

Grocery Store Hot Sauces Ranked Worst To Best

The invention of hot sauce is credited to the ancient Aztecs, who cultivated chili peppers to add some flavor and nutritional value to their limited food choices. By the time the conquistadors arrived, the Aztecs were already mixing peppers, herbs, and water into sauces and serving them on ancient versions of the corn tortilla.

Fast forward several hundred years, and hot sauce has spread from its birthplace in Central America to North America, Europe, Asia, and outer space. Walk into your average grocery store, and you’ll be confronted with a dazzling array of hot sauce bottles filled with liquids in red, green, yellow, and orange. Different brands come with different types of peppers, ingredients, spice levels, and suggested food pairingsand not all are created equal.

To help you find a spicy sauce worthy of drenching over your eggs, bloody marys, pizza, tacos, hot pockets, Chinese takeout, girlfriend’s cooking, and more, we’ve ranked grocery store hot sauces from worst to best:

The 10 Hottest Hot Sauces You Can Buy Now

Subtlety and understatement are not exactly mantras in the modern hot sauce biz, especially when you look at bottles boasting slogans like “100% Pain” and “Insanity.” It should be no surprise, then, that we’re in the middle of a Scoville Scale arms racea chile pepper blitzkrieg that can feel more like a death march than a road to enlightenment, as companies vying to outmaneuver their competitors keep pushing the heat levels to the extreme outer-reaches.

But while these “warnings” only seem to encourage more and more YouTube dares, hot-sauce wasnt always a game of one-upmanship. Historically speaking, hot sauces began where hot peppers grew, in Central America, perhaps some 2000 years ago, deployed sparingly to add flavor to a humdrum meal. Centuries later, companies like Tabasco and Huy Fong’s broke through the mainstream, setting the stage for a global interest in hot sauce.

The widespread interest has also primed us for a certain type of chilehead with the courage to sign a legal disclaimer before entering the “XXX Hot” category of hot-sauce tasting. As more product enters the market, one way to differentiate yourself from the rest of the pack is by ratcheting up the Scovilles in novelty bottlesseemingly lethal formulas that sometimes hover in the seven- or eight-digit range. Not everyone considers those things sauces though, as they can only occur courtesy of extracts, the HGH of the spice world.

NOTE: in some cases Scoville units are estimates.

Cajohns Lethal Ingestion Bhut Jolokia Hot Sauce

Crowleys Hot Sauce Smoke and Fire

It gets its name from a triune combination of Jolokia peppers, red Savina habanero, and Fatalii peppers. These three peppers combine to produce a formidable super hot sauce whose Scoville range hits a million. Thats spectacular since it doesnt consist of extracts that have been highly concentrated to achieve a high score on the scale.

Besides adding flavor and fire to your dishes, this ultrahot sauce can make a perfect gift idea.
