Can Hot Sauce Kill You
It is possible to overdose on capsaicin, the chemical that makes chili peppers hot. However, the only way you can die from eating hot sauce is if the sauce if sufficiently hot and you eat it in sufficient quantity. A study performed in 1980 calculated that it would take consuming 3 pounds of superhot pepper powder to kill a person weighing 150 pounds. It is highly unlikely anyone could consume that amount, as their body would react before reaching such a limit.
There have been reports of people ending up in the hospital in extreme situations after eating superhot chili peppers, particularly those with previous medical conditions. There is also the story of a man who burned a hole in his esophagus from eating super hot peppers, but that was from vomiting, not from the peppers themselves.
While it is true that eating extremely hot peppers and hot sauces can cause vomiting, nausea and stomach pain, the reality is that they cannot tear or burn through any of your body parts.

Tips For Making Superhot Hot Sauce
A word of caution. Aside from the obvious heat you will achieve with this sauce, you must also beware of fumes in the kitchen. Make this sauce in a well ventilated room.
Open the windows if you can. Pepper fumes can be rough, especially with superhots. Consider a mask and/or goggle to protect your eyes.
Also, wear gloves. I cook with superhots all the time and the oils usually do not bother my skin, but when cooking with a large amount, cutting them open, handling them, you will get some on your skin. It may burn, but if not, it can still burn other parts of your body that you touch. So, be careful. Learn How to Stop the Chili Pepper Burn.

Blairs Mega Death Sauce
Heat Level: 550k SHUs
Note the space between the words, and the a in death. This isnt an offering from Mustaine et al, but it nonetheless rocks the heat pretty hard. Reaper Squeezins Hot Sauce
No, it’s not the name of some dangerous but also cuddly chapter of the Hells Angels. Reaper Squeezins is actually a very dangerous hot sauce, which ranks in at 2.2 million Scoville.
On the PuckerButt Pepper Company product page, a reviewer by the name of Neil Gobbi had this to say -“I… am a glutton for punishment. I served not four, but six years in the US Navy. I’ve been married TWICE. I’ve owned two Saabs. Most of all, I continue to purchase Reaper Squeezins every time my bottle goes dry. My tongue has taken on a separate identity, and has been plotting to kill me, its torturous captor, in between dousings. My internal organs have taken on the consistency of a Cummins diesel radiator hose.”
As with a lot of these mega hot sauces, people are adding them to things like chili and guacamoles. Keep in mind, if you ever overdo it on the drops of hot sauce you add to your recipes you can always tone down the spice level by adding a sweetener or by not being such a big baby and shutting up and eating your salsa.
Q: Do Hot Sauces Expire
Consider this your annual reminder that most labels actually give best by dates, not expiration dates. So, the best by date might be in a year, but the real question is how quickly does it deteriorate after that? With most vinegar-based sauces the answer is: pretty slowly. Salt and vinegar are both preservatives, so those styles can probably go three or more years without changing too much. Fruit- or vegetable-based sauces, and especially ones without vinegar, probably last half that timeand need to be kept in the refrigerator. But the good news is that even if the sauce is no longer best, that will generally apply to things like color and flavor, rather than food safety.

Nando’s Peri Peri Hot Sauce
This blend of four chiles, including cayenne and African bird’s eye, plus lemon and garlic, started out at a Portuguese restaurant in Johannesburg, South Africa. It’s now the signature sauce of a chain of fast-casual restaurants. As you can tell from the logo, and the restaurants, it goes well with chicken, but I think you’ll find plenty of other things to put it on, too.
Safety And The Carolina Reaper
First, this is not your average pepper. Have you ever chopped up a jalapeno and then accidentally rubbed your eyes? It is terrible. It is a whole different ballgame with this pepper and you dont want to play. Use gloves when handling this pepper. If you dont, you may regret it.
We also put this in your oven to broil for a short while and you need to be a bit careful with this, as well. The peppers are hot! When you heat them up, they give off fumes. Make sure you have some ventilation handy and be careful of having any kids or pets around.
Seriously, people. Use your common sense and have a bit of respect for this pepper.

But Crystal claims to have been invented five years before in New Orleans, and is the number-one-selling Louisiana hot sauce, and just has a little extra tang this Louisiana stuff doesn’t.
