Fast food fanatics are enamored by their buffalo, barbecue, and Polynesian sauces that they can use for fry and nugget dunking. The most famous of the sauces, of course, is the eponymous Chick-fil-A Sauce, which is described by the restaurant as having “notes of honey mustard and smoky tang” .
More specifically, the dip is just a mixture of honey mustard, barbecue sauce, and ranch dressing, according to the company . Given the popularity of the sauces , it should come as no surprise that other retailers around the country would try to imitate and emulate them, and folks try to replicate it at home, too.
But is it possible to recreate the magic? And if anyone put it on the market, would consumers purchase it?

Recently, weve been hearing all the rage about one of Walmarts cult-followed products: a copycat Chick-fil-A sauce.
The Great Value sauce doesnt explicitly say that its a copycat, but we suspect from the similar ingredient list and the name Chicken Dipping Sauce that a knockoff sauce may be what they were after.
Some shoppers have claimed that the Walmart version tastes exactly like the beloved Chick-fil-A sauce that we stock up on in the drive-thru line, but we wanted to put those claims to the test. So, we put our resident fast-food taster, Nicole, on the job. And if youre going to compare the off-brand version to the true hero of the Chick-fil-A franchise, theres only one way to do it: with chicken nuggets.
Chick-fil-A sauce is supposedly just a mixture of honey mustard, barbecue sauce, and ranch dressing. Appearance wise, the classic fast food sauce has a slightly lighter tint than the Walmart brand, but they have a similar orange-y hue. But regardless, the ingredient list and consistency of both condiments is practically identical.

So, whats the verdict? According to Nicole, the two sauces taste eerily similar. She even had a hard time telling the two apart after going back and forth. After careful examination, the ONLY difference she could detect was a slightly higher amount of BBQ flavor in the Walmart sauce .

You guys know that I try to avoid fast food most of the time. Home cooking is much healthier, and cheaper too. But every so often, I must confess, I get a craving for Chick-Fil-A.
Its not about the chicken I can cook perfectly good chicken at home, thank you very much. Its the sauce. That special sauce you get only from Chick-Fil-A like a cross between smoky barbecue sauce and a creamy honey-mustard, with just a hint of lemon.
Well, its just plain silly to go out for chicken when all you really want is the sauce. And ordering a tub of the sauce by itself would be even sillier. So I realized Id just have to make my own.
And once I got to work, it turned out to be pretty easy. All the components mustard, mayo, barbecue sauce, lemon, and honey were right in my fridge and pantry. It was just a question of adjusting the amounts until I achieved that perfect blend of creamy and spicy, tangy and sweet.
