How To Make French Toast
Start by making an egg custard to dip the bread slices. Combine half-and-half , eggs , vanilla , sugar and a pinch of salt. Whisk these ingredients together.
Then soak the cinnamon bread slices in the egg batter. Let them sit for 2 to 3 minutes until the custard has completely soaked the bread all the way through, but not saturated enough that the bread slices fall apart.
Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter 1 . You want the skillet to be large enough to hold both slices of the French toast while they cook. Let the slices cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side and golden brown. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees.
How To Serve Cinnamon French Toast Bites
I like to serve these cinnamon french toast bites with a drizzle of my chocolate and Nutella dipping sauce, for which you can find the recipe here. Its very easy, I used around a tablespoon of Nutella which I heated through with a splash of milk.
I also added some strawberries as I think they make a great fruit accompaniment to any breakfast.
How To Make French Toast With Easy Brown Sugar Lemon Sauce
First, tackle the bread using my favourite French toast recipe. Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon. Dip each slice of bread in the egg and milk mixture, let this soak up a bit of the mixture, not so much that its sopping wet, though. My bread suggestion is thick slices like texas toast or sliced brioche, but whatever you have, should work. Fry in a non-stick pan and cook until golden brown, then flip and cook until the second side is golden.
So now, its really just a matter of serving them. Set a slice of cooked French toast on your plate, and with a spoon put a small scoop, about a tablespoon or two, on top, and using the back of the spoon, spread this over the toast. Finish it with a drizzle of the lemon juice over the brown sugar. You dont want this to be soaking wet, because itll be too sour, you want just enough to wet everything,
While it sits, the lemon juice will start to dissolve the sugar and itll turn into a syrup. Add a little more lemon if you feel its not melting enough. Thats it! Its so simple but itll change the way you eat French toast forever. Want to take it up one more notch? Butter is the fat of choice to fry the french toast. As it heats up, the milk solids lightly toast, creating a toffee-like flavor and aroma, just like making browned butter. Make sure to wipe the pan clean in between batches to prevent those lovely solids from burning. Get an oven dish or a mixing bowl. Pour in cream, milk, add the eggs and spices. Now for the spices: I sometimes have a blend of gingerbread spices on hand which I used here. However, if I dont have this I simply mix some ground spices like cinnamon, cloves, star anise.
Whisk everything up until well combined. I dont know about you but I dont like lumps of spices here and there.

Get your frying pan ready. Melt the butter . Dip each slice of bread in the batter and fry. Depending on the size of your pan you might be able to fit all 12 slices there. If you do, this will cut your cooking time down by about 4 minutes. So use the largest pan you have!
Important: Now because I fried it in 2 batches I used half of the butter first and when the first batch was ready I got rid of the butter, wiped the pan clean with paper kitchen towel and used the other half for the second batch. Dont be tempted to fry the second batch in the same butter! The butter burns fast so its better to use fresh one for each batch.
If you will be using a large pan, then use all the butter at once.

The French Toast Sandwich At Burger King surprised me. After reading some early mixed reviews we didnt really know what to expect. However, I made sure I had an open mind going in for our taste test.

How Long Is This Good For:

What Time Does Burger King Serve Breakfast
You have got to get to the restaurant early. Burger King does not offer all day breakfast service and the breakfast is only served until 10:30 am. Burger King opens at 6:00 am and stops serving breakfast at 10:30 am sharp. I am not concerned about them running out of the new French toast sandwich even though its a brand-new menu item and I have heard rumors of bacon shortages. I want the sausage sandwich, but Ill settle for ham if I have to.
This is going to be a morning drive through experience and the car line is not too long. I waited about a minute to get to the BK order window. A friendly and pleasant greeting this morning from the takeout window staff was just what I was looking for. No delays and Im on my way.

Cut bread slices in half at a diagonal.
Mix all the ingredients for dulce de leche egg mix and dunk bread slices.
Cover bread on both sides with egg mix.
In a skillet over medium heat add two tablespoons of butter and cook a few slices at a time until golden brown on both sides.
Continue cooking the other slices.
While french toast is cooking, make the cinnamon sauce.
Simply mix all the ingredients in a bowl except butter.
Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat.
Add sauce to saucepan and simmer for 4 minutes.
Top the cinnamon sauce on french toast or serve on the side.
I also love my french toast with fresh fruit and strawberries are my favorite!
Sprinkle french toast with confectioners sugar and serve!
Make Ahead Dulce De Leche French Toast
Cook french toast as per instructions and allow the toast to cool completely.
Place a piece of wax paper in between each piece of toast and place in an air tight container or freezer bag.
Freeze for up to two months.
Reheat single servings in a toaster or in a pan over low medium heat. For larger servings, reheat in a skillet over low medium heat or in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Serve as normal.

The Best Bread For French Toast
I recommend using thick cut slices of french bread or Texas toast when making french toast. Using thick slices makes the bread a little sturdier and helps keep it from getting too soggy when its dipped in the egg mixture.
I also recommend using day-old bread if you can to help prevent the slices of french toast from getting too floppy. Simply lay out the slices of bread on a baking sheet the night before and let them sit on the counter overnight.
Theyll be ready to use in the morning!
Once youve got your ingredients ready, make a little assembly line with the thick cut bread first, then the whisked egg mixture, then the hot skillet and finally the cinnamon sugar topping.
All thats left to do is dip the bread in the egg mixture on both sides and fry it up in a nonstick skillet with a little butter and oil until its lightly browned and cooked through.
Then dip the french toast in the cinnamon sugar and serve with the Mexican chocolate sauce!

Just dip them long enough to coat and allow the excess to drip off before covering in the cinnamon sugar. If they soak too long, then they may fall apart and won’t have that crisp texture best for dipping.
- I baked these french toast sticks in the oven, but they can also be prepared in batches on the stove-top. I personally prefer the oven for this recipe since it works for all the sticks at once with minimum effort. For stove-top preparation in a skillet, melt ghee or equal parts butter/oil in a large frying pan over medium low heat and cook on all sides until golden.

How to make it
- Cinnamon Sauce
- In a small saucepan melt the butter. When the butter is melted add the brown sugar, cinnamon, 2 1/2 tbs cream and salt. Stir continuously until it comes to a simmer. Once it comes to a simmer turn the stove off and add the rest of the cream and the flour. Mix well. Cover and set aside until ready to serve.

- In a med size bowl, mix eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla and milk until it’s well blended. Mix the flour and baking powder together and then slowly add to wet mix, until smooth. Heat up a pan with about 1/4 vegetable oil in it . Dip bread into batter, let the excess drip off. Once the pan is hot, fry the bread until it’s golden brown on both sides. Drain on a paper towel. Plate and pour on the cinnamon sauce. Enjoy!
