Grocery Store Barbecue Sauces Ranked Worst To First

Barbecue sauce is as American as baseball and apple pie, particularly in the South. This condiment is not only a ketchup substitute, it can also be used as a marinade, sauce, or topping when barbecuing. From pulled pork to beef ribs and from smoked chicken to grilled vegetables, you can find this sauce on just about anything.

Perhaps the most fascinating aspect about barbecue sauce is the variety. Depending on where you are in the South, the recipe for the local barbecue sauce will vary wildly.

In Memphis, its the molasses that takes center stage. In parts of the Carolinas, its a mopping sauce that can be used for dipping or as a baste for the meat. Other parts of the Carolinas are famous for adding mustard, Kansas City is known for its expert use of tomatoes, while Texas adds peppers to the mix to create spiciness.

This list of barbecue sauces takes a look at the store-bought varieties and ranks them, from worst to best. Fire up your grill, take out your meat, and be ready to select the best barbecue sauce for the job after reading this handy guide.

If you are a fan of Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce, you will love the taste of this made from scratch BBQ sauce!

With the first college football Saturday and Labor Day coming up in the next few days, I thought it might be a good time to post this homemade BBQ sauce.

Recipe Testing And Reality

We know it is hard to compete with high fructose corn syrup and refined sugar, but we absolutely LOVE our healthier version. It has incredible flavor, and we feel that it comes pretty darn close to being labeled a WFPB copycat version of Sweet Baby Rays.

One of the things we are most proud of is that it does NOT have a ketchup base as nearly every other BBQ sauce out there does. This loveliness is made from scratch and the flavor is yummilicous!

Sweet Baby Rays barbecue sauce and many of their other sauces are labeled with a gluten-free label. By looking at the back of the package near the ingredients list, you can find a gluten-free label on many of their products.

Like many brands, not every product this company makes is necessarily gluten-free. How To Make Grilled Awesome Sauce Chicken

Sweet Baby Ray

As I mentioned, the chicken is marinated in a combination of honey mustard, teriyaki sauce, and hot sauce. I used Sweet Baby Rays teriyaki sauce and Franks Hot Sauce. I let the chicken hang out overnight in the marinade before grilling. If you dont have overnight, just let the chicken marinate as long as possible before cooking on the grill.

My number one tip for grilling chicken breasts is to pound the chicken to an even thickness. Pounding the chicken breasts allows the chicken to cook evenly. This will prevent you from having half-dry chicken and half-juicy chicken. Just place the chicken breasts in a gallon ziplock bag and use a flat meat mallet to pound out the thick end of the chicken. You can use the same bag to marinate the chicken.

Is Sweet Baby Rays Healthy

High Fructose Corn Syrup is a sweetener made from corn starch. Its used in a lot of processed foods, including barbecue sauce. While there is no evidence that its worse for you than other types of sugar, and the FDA has approved its use, there is a growing movement to avoid products with this as an ingredient. In general, most of us would benefit from cutting down on sugar of any type.

Sweeten up your ribs, chickens, and steaks with this sauce. You can use it when you cook on the grill or even on your stovetop. I have used it several times, and I loved the result. Its squeezable bottle packaging makes it easily dispensing.

However, if you have an issue with your sauce being sweet, this may not be the best option. More so, this gluten-free barbecue sauce is made with high fructose syrup, which poses health concerns. Since I am all for healthy recipes and products, I have reservations about this one but use them minimally if you insist on using them. Thats my two cents!

What Is The Difference Between Baby Back Ribs And St Louis Style Ribs

St. Louis spare ribs are taken from the bottom of the ribs on the side of the belly of the pig. Theyre bigger and meatier, but a little tougher than baby back ribs.

However, baby back ribs are cut from the top of the rib cage close to the loin of the pig. Hence, theyre smaller and a more tender cut of meat. Theyre a bit pricey, but so worth it.
