Blair’s Ultra Death Sauce

Gordon Ramsay Savagely Critiques Spicy Wings | Hot Ones

Scoville units: ~1.3 millionPeppers used: Habanero, cayenne, serrano, joloki

Blairs is clearly the clubhouse leader in punching through the clouds and attaining absolutely insane Scoville numbers. Case in point: their Guinness World Records-certified 16 Million Reserve bottling with, yes, 16 million Scoville units and a warning for it to not even opened without using extreme caution. Unfortunately, that sauce and many others from Blairs Reserve series are highly limited , and of course 100% extract too . Ultra Death is their hottest regular sauce, a tantalizing mix of habanero, cayenne, serrano, and jolokia peppers. Buy it here.

But My Hot Sauce Is Way Too Hot

Dont be too alarmed if your hot sauce tastes overly hot when you first go to store it. A week or two in the fridge and the gradual slow fermenting will mellow out the heat substantially! Its actually quite surprising. Many a time Ive made a hot sauce and tried it thinking there is no way we would be able to eat it because of the heat level. But after a week or two it really does calm down the heat. Fermenting the hot sauce gives it another layer of flavor, adding more and more complexity. This will keep indefinitely in the fridge.

Hot Ones is a YouTube sensation that has taken the internet by storm. It is produced by First We Feast and Complex Media and is hosted by Sean Evans.

The Last Dab was developed by legendary chilehead Smokin Ed Currie of PuckerButt Pepper Co., the creator of the infamous Carolina Reaper, the worlds hottest pepper.

Reactions to The Last Dab Triple X have been positive. It is an extremely spicy hot sauce so a small amount, or dab, goes pretty far. It is one of those sauces where there is a tipping point: add a little and you enjoy a very spicy but manageable burn, but add too much and your mouth becomes overwhelmed and a physiological overload begins to take place.

What Is Your Hottest Hot Sauce

The hottest sauce in our hot sauce collection is Hot Ones The Last Dab: Apollo! It features a new pepper bred by the notorious pepper scientist Smokin Ed Currie of the Puckerbutt Pepper Company called The Apollo Pepper, which is a descendant of one of his other infamous chilis: Pepper X. Smokin Ed estimates The Apollo clocks in well over 3 million Scoville heat units making it the worlds hottest pepper. The Last Dab: Apollo is the only hot sauce recipe in the world to use The Apollo Pepper.

The Last Dab Apollo: Flavor And Review

Before we get into the nitty-gritty, we have to mention that The Last Dab Apollo deviates from the previous Last Dab sauces. It is a hot sauce that is primarily made up of two major ingredients peppers, and vinegar.

Although, there are technically four ingredients, 3 of those are derived from the Apollo pepper, so we say two, not four.

The result of this is a pretty flat flavor, with a lot of powerful heat, and not much else going on. It is not a bad sauce, it is just not for everyone.

Some people will use a hot sauce to add some heat into meals without changing the flavor. This is probably a good shout for that purpose.

However, if you wanted to do this, you would probably be better off growing fresh peppers yourself, and then using them. It will be much more rewarding.

In terms of flavor it has savory pepper, and is super hot, yet not too floral. You can use it to make anything crazy spicy, or to upset your friends, by mixing it in with random stuff.

All that being said, the sauce has an intriguing aroma. It smells savory with a hint of carrots, almost like a unique vegetable stew.

Although, given its very limited list of ingredients, this can only really be attributed to the Apollo pepper itself, and nothing else.

The Apollo Pepper Distillate that is listed in the ingredients is made using Carbon Dioxide extraction. This process is kind of similar to how high-end retailers produce essential oils.

What About The Consistency

Millie Bobby Brown Needs a Milkshake While Eating Spicy Wings | Hot Ones

Like many of the former Last Dab sauces, the Apollo is thick and chunky. The fresh peppers in this mix are nearly chewable, and the vinegar in it is kept at a low consistency.

This means you get a fantastically perfect pour from it. You do not want to get too fast of a pour. With the thickness of the sauce, it will not pour out very fast, so you do not get the danger of accidentally pouring too much into your food and therefore, burning your face off.

Instead, you get a slow pour that allows you to pour just the right amount of heat into any meal.

Now we take a voyage down under to the outback of Australia, where theyve somehow packed six super spicy peppers into one dynamite bottle. If weve learned anything about Australia over the years its that its hot down there, full of extremes and bizarre creatures. This sauce is no different. Much like the very large, dangerous and other-worldly creatures that call AUS their home, the peppers inside this bottle span from climate zones across Western Australia, giving this sauce a variety of heat profiles. Mix in a little apple cider vinegar, citrus and a dash of sea salt and youve got a spice thatll blow you away.

Shaquandas Hot Pepper 10100 Scovilles

Ideal for marinades for chicken and fish as well, or for spicing up your lunch sandwich, it adds more spice through chili peppers and horseradish, as well as some sweetness via demerara sugar.

Jimmy Kimmel Makes His Hot Ones Debut But Succumbs To The Fiery Fury Of Ultra

Jimmy Kimmel has been making the rounds promoting Once Upon a Time in Queens, the docuseries he executive produced about the 1986 New York Mets, and his latest stop is the YouTube talk show Hot Ones.

As fans of Hot Ones are aware, the premise involves celebrities being interviewed while they consume an increasingly spicy assortment of hot wings, which typically culminates in profuse sweating and involuntary tears being shed.

Kimmel, a fan of hot wings for real, comports himself admirably until just after the 17-minute mark when he chomps into a chicken wing seasoned with a hot sauce dubbed Da Bomb: Beyond Insanity, boasting a Scoville rating of 135,600.

This is the one thats like the prank, right, quips Kimmel before taking his first bite. Oh yeah, he says while beginning to cough. My nose is starting to run. And when the sauce gets hot, Im gonna warn you, I get the hiccups.

As predicted, plenty of hiccuping follows as the wings become progressively spicy.

Kimmels entire appearance can be viewed in the video above.

On February 18, 2020, a spin-off titled Hot Ones: The Game Show premiered on truTV. Hosted by Evans, the series pits two pairs of players against one another for a chance to win up to $25,000. The main game is played in three rounds, using wings that have been cooked in hot sauces whose Scoville ratings increase from one round to the next. Players are not provided with any water or milk to reduce the effects of the wings but are given buckets in which to vomit if necessary.

In each of the first two rounds, the players begin by eating one wing apiece and the host asks three toss-up questions open to all. The first team to buzz in has five seconds to respond a correct answer awards them money, while a miss gives it to the opposing team. Questions are worth $100/$200/$300 in the first round, and these values double to $200/$400/$600 for the second.

In the third round, the players begin by eating one bite of a wing. The host reads a series of clues, and players may buzz in at any time to identify the subject being described. Three puzzles are played, worth $1,000/$2,000/$3,000 the team that scores on each puzzle must then take another bite. In this round, if a team misses, the opponents must give the correct answer in order to score. Both teams keep their accumulated winnings.

Hot Ones hot sauces are both intriguing and scary. Take a look at just how hot they are.

In Hot Ones, a YouTube series under the account name First We Feast, host Sean Evans sits down with a different celebrity guest in each episode, talking with them about their lives and careers. The catch: as they talk, they eat chicken wings, starting with a slightly tangy sauce and working their way up to the kind of hot sauce that could turn you into a fire-breathing dragon. If the celebrity makes it all the way to the tenth and final sauce, they can promote an upcoming project at the end of the episode.

In season 3, the starter hot sauce was a basic sriracha, which is 2,200 Scovilles, a scale that measures the spiciness of peppers or spicy foods. That was followed by Tabasco Original at 2,500 Scovilles. And the final sauce was Blairs Mega Death at 550,000 Scovilles. But things have been progressing rapidly on the spicy scale, and the show now produces its own branded sauces as well.

Our Growing Hot Ones Collection

However, if you are not a fanatic about hot sauces, youll end up with way too many hot sauces. If that is the case, or if you arent one of the 8 million+ followers of the Hot Ones show , you may just want to shop for individual sauces on Heatonist.

The only other drawback is that it is somewhat pricey for hot sauces, especially if you live outside of the USA. If you like treating yourself, and you have a little extra space in the fridge, we highly recommend the Hot Ones Hot Sauce box!

Henrys Hot Sauce Carolina Reaper

Scoville units: ~1 millionPeppers used: Carolina Reaper

Unlike a lot of these other hot sauces that seem to come from the mind of a slightly insane dude working from his kitchen, Henrys Hot Sauce is courtesy of an honest-to-god Virginia pepper farm. There, in the Shenandoah Valley, is apparently located the most limestone-rich soil for growing the most perfect hot peppersones the Henry family has cultivated from the world over. No surprise, Henrys sauces use 100% homegrown peppers , and are usually based around one single pepper varietal, like Carolina Reaper, their most extreme offering. Buy it here.

Note: if you go to Henrys website youll see Carolina Reaper listed as limited edition. This is mainly because making sauces with 100% your own ingredients leads to small batches, not because these products are of the only-100-bottles-made-then-gone-forever nature.
