What Can You Order At A Chinese Restaurant On Keto

The most important thing to remember when you are ordering keto Chinese food is where you are ordering from.

The carbs and ingredients in Chinese food heavily depend on where it is coming from. A small take out chain shop will probably have dishes that contain way more sugar than a family-owned restaurant that sticks to more traditional choices in meals.

Lets look closely at what you can order at Chinese restaurants even the chains. These hacks and principles will save you time and stress, so keep them in mind when you order Chinese food.

Storing Your Teriyaki Sauce

Allow your Keto Teriyaki Sauce to cool before storing in a container, jar or bottle. Make sure to keep in the refrigerator.

Heres a great meal prep tip: if youre not going to use your entire batch of sugar-free teriyaki sauce in the near future, pour into silicone molds or an ice cube tray and freeze. When youre ready to create your next teriyaki dish, simply take out however many sauce cubes you need and pop them straight into the pan!

Recipe Tips And Variations

This sugar free teriyaki sauce is super duper tasty yet not incredibly sweet because that’s how I like it best. I recommend that you sweeten this sauce to taste – simply add more erythritol if needed.

Don’t like tamari? You can substitute it for all-out coconut aminos if you prefer and cut the sweetener down to about 1 tbsp, or to taste. Coconut aminos is naturally sweeter than tamari so you could even get away without a sweetener if you dont like things too sweet.

If you can’t get hold of coconut aminos at all , you can leave it out and use more tamari instead.

The xanthan gum works great as a thickener for this sauce. As an alternative, you could also try 1 tsp of ground chia seeds or a pinch of grass-fed gelatin – but only a tiny amount as you dont want it to set to jelly!

Keto Teriyaki Sauce For Chicken, Fish, and Other Meats!

When youre going Keto its fairly easy to prepare your favorite entrees in a ketogenic way. But what about sauces and condiments? They often include sugar or other ingredients that may wreck your diet, and in the beginning, it can be difficult to try and tweak your old recipes accordingly.

To me, a nice sauce is what crowns the meal, so Ive been collecting recipes that can help me prepare a complete low carb meal without having to worry about extra carbs.

Using Low Carb Teriyaki Sauce As A Marinade

Teriyaki works as a great marinade. When I make it for a marinade, I typically skip the thickener so the sauce is a bit thinner. Teriyaki sauce makes a great overnight marinade for beef, chicken, and pork. I then just pour the whole thing into either my slow cooker or pressure cooker and cook it either all day or in about an hour or less.

My only exception to thinner teriyaki sauce is seafood. If I make the sauce as a marinade for seafood, I make it thick and use the thickened sauce as both a marinade and a topping.

What To Serve With Low

Teriyaki salmon is frequently served with rice, but since rice isnt keto-friendly, we need to find alternatives.

One of my favorite alternatives to rice is riced cauliflower. This is simply cauliflower that has been chopped up into rice-like pieces. I usually buy this in the frozen section, already chopped up.

My recipe for Easy Low-Carb Cauliflower Fried Rice or this recipe for cilantro lime cauliflower rice from Skinny Taste would also work well with this salmon.

This salmon would also pair well with a simple green salad, steamed broccoli, my Low-Carb Asian Noodles, or Harpers recipe for Low-carb Seaweed Salad.

How To Make Sugar

Keto Teriyaki Chicken Wings

When you make a keto friendly teriyaki sauce recipe at home, you need to substitute a low-carb sweetener for the sugar and a carb-free substitute for the sauce thickener. Besides that, Teriyaki sauce is very easy to make and only requires one bowl and one pot.

To start, add all the ingredients to a small to medium sized bowl & whisk. You can skip this step if you are using a rubber whisk. I mix in a bowl to not scratch my pans. Next, add the whisked sauce to a pan and cook for 10-15 minutes. While it cooks, make sure to stir it on occasion. The sauce is ready when it has reduced roughly by half or is thickened to your liking.
