First Thing’s First: Taste Your Sauce
Warm up the pasta sauce, grab a spoonful, taste it. Think about what the sauce could use. Is it too watery? Acidic? Bland? Could it benefit from a little more fat or a handful of fresh herbs?
You might not know exactly, and that’s okay. It’s still good practice to taste the sauce first and try to figure it out. You don’t want to dump a bunch of oregano into the sauce if that sauce already has a lot of oregano!
Now, then. Ready to punch up that pasta sauce? Let’s get going!

What Are Other Types Of Hot Sauce
Besides buffalo sauce, there are more types of hot sauce bottles you can find in stores. Hot sauce is simmered peppers, cooked till soft. It is made with vinegar and a little salt. And the hot sauce will be colored by the color of peppers used.
Habanero pepper is red, green, orange, or yellow. So you can buy habanero hot pepper sauce in those colors.
Jalapeño is green or red, so you can buy jalapeño hot sauce in those colors.
One of the oldest hot sauces made in the country is Tabasco hot pepper sauce. Edmund Mcilhenney first made this in Avery Island, Louisiana using peppers he harvested from his garden. Tabasco is a brand name exclusive to his company, which is McIlhenny Company. Today, different manufacturers produce either a copycat or modified version of this original tabasco sauce.
Today, you can taste other Louisiana hot sauces such as Tabasco. These sauces like Tabasco are slightly salty, and the peppers are sometimes fermented to create that rich-tasting hot sauce.
Another popular variety of hot sauce is Sriracha, or otherwise called rooster sauce, because of the rooster you can see printed on its bottle. This is sold in many countries and some make their own version of this hot sauce.

Tips For Making Healthy Alfredo Sauce
To make this light alfredo sauce happen, I use only 4 simple ingredients. Before my clean eating era, I used to make Alfredo sauce with butter, garlic cloves, cream cheese, milk, parmesan, salt, and pepper.
- replace cream cheese with cottage cheese for more protein and less saturated fat
- use almond milk instead of milk this is just a preference, you can use cow milk if you want
- skip salt because parmesan and cottage cheese is salty enough.
Pretty simple substitutions, dont you think? But they make this homemade Alfredo sauce healthy and still so creamy and delicious.
Oh, I almost forgot. I like my Alfredo sauce a little garlicky. So I add a little bit of garlic powder to make it extra special. I use garlic powder, but you can easily sub in whole garlic cloves if youd prefer.

How To Make Buffalo Wing Sauce:
To get started, melt a half stick of unsalted butter in a saucepan:
You can also melt it in the microwave instead, if thats easier for you.
Next add Franks, and the exact one you want is Franks Red Hot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce.
They sell quite a few varieties, but its this original one that you want in particular:
Next add worcestershire sauce. Only a little bit is needed:
Then add ground cayenne pepper to the buffalo sauce:
When you want more heat, always add more ground cayenne pepper instead of extra Franks sauce. Otherwise youll throw off the balance of acidity.
Whisk this all together until its emulsified:
If you havent tried chicken wings baked instead of fried, its one of my most popular recipes since 2012 and many people like them more than fried wings.
One more note on the sauce: it will change in consistency as it cools off, because butter tends to firm up as it chills. For that reason, we make the sauce while the wings are cooking. You can reheat it as needed.
Can you make buffalo sauce ahead? Yes, just reheat on the stove or in the microwave and whisk together to combine.
Also, we dont add any salt to the sauce, as there is a substantial amount in the Franks. But you can adjust to taste if youd like.

How To Improve Canned Spaghetti Sauce
Gonna do meal prep for the week. Rotini with red sauce. I’ll be using off-the-shelf bottled red sauce.
Any advice on how to improve this dish? I’m a bit of a beginner, btw.
add in FRESH veggies like onions chopped and red/yellow/green bell peppers, add in deep herbs and spices like paprika, bay leaf, oregano, thyme, celery seed, dry mustard, siracha, red pepper flake, garlic etc..
Totally agree but don’t exaggerate with spices! Too many flavours won’t make your sauce better
I love all these suggestions and just want to add throw in a splash of balsamic vin and a couple bay leaves while it’s simmering
A splash of white wine to the onions before adding the tomatoes is also great.
I add it to my homemade sauce. So much flavor!
Sauté some onions, bell pepper, garlic and/or ground beef. It’s a step up from canned sauce but less work than making sauce
Whole tomatoes are a must. Dont even have to be San marzano. Of all the canned tomato varieties , the whole tomatoes are the highest quality. The lower quality tomatoes get crushed, diced, or puréed. If you like the crushed or puréed texture, buy them whole and do it yourself. Unbelievable difference in flavor
