The Last Dab Pepper X sauce The Hot Ones First We Feast Review
  • Taste whatever peppers you’re using before making your hot sauce so you have some sense of their flavor and level of heat. Sometimes even peppers you’re familiar with can surprise you! A few years ago we grew jalapeños in our Aerogarden and learned the hard way that peppers grown in a hydroponic garden are a thousand times hotter than grocery store jalapeños.

  • If you don’t have a blender, a powerful food processor can probably get the job done, though I haven’t personally tried it. You’ll want to pause to scrape down the sides of the bowl several times and will probably have to let it run for a longer time.

Where To Buy Last Dab Apollo

The Last Dab Apollo can be found exclusively on Heatonist, currently priced at $22 . This is the most expensive Last Dab thus far, though the bottle should last most people a long, long time.

This would be a great gift for anyone you know who loves super-spicy food. The price makes sense, given that each bottle likely requires a couple dozen peppers to produce. Also, the pepper itself is highly exclusive to Smokin Eds reserves.

Overall, we were blown away by the heat of Apollo. The sauce comes up short in value due to the extreme price tag and the relatively standard flavor. It is really more of a party trick than a great hot sauce. Well continue to use the former Last Dab varieties for their more interesting flavor.

Distillate means extract, extract has been extracted from pepper matter with CO2 and then distilled probably using a rotovap to isolate the capsaicin and terpenes in the pepper.

Is The Classic Hot Sauce Worth It

The Last Dab (world hottest hot sauce) on Carousell

If you havent tried it and you are a hot sauce buff, then The Classic is worth at least one try. It is on the pricy side when compared to cheap grocery store alternatives, but the quality is much better than those options. Hot Ones have made some of our favorite sauces, and this is now among the top-rated.

    Cmon Dont Be Like That

Fine. The majority of the heat in peppers comes from two parts of the pepper: the seeds and the ribs.

I know you know what seeds look like, but the ribs of a pepper are the white part that the seeds are attached to. If you cut those parts out of the pepper, youll reduce the heat immensely.

Another way to reduce the heat is to use bell peppers in place of some of the chili peppers.

Why Is Da Bomb So Hot

We can sum it up by saying that this is one of the spiciest hot sauces we have ever tasted. Although the heat originates from pepper extract rather than genuine superhot peppers, it is nonetheless rather surprising when you sample it for the first time. Dont consume excessive amounts of this fiery sauce. To feel the heat, a tiny dab is all that is needed.

The latest version of the final hot sauce for the series, for the few celebrities who make it all the way down the list, this one is a doozy. If youre a glutton for spicy punishment, you can buy it from the Heatonist website , but its limited to one bottle per person. And probably for good reason.

    What Is Pepper X

Everything You Need to Know About The Last Dab, the Hottest Sauce on Hot Ones

Pepper X is a creation of Ed Currie out in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Ed Currie and his company Puckerbutt Pepper Company are world famous for creating the hottest peppers on the planet. His previous record holder, the Carolina Reaper, has an average of 1,569,300 Scoville units.

In a Today article highlighting Pepper X, Currie gave some background on his latest creation. Currie originally was looking to create a pepper with specific cancer fighting, sub-capsinoids. Sub-capsinoids are substances found in chili peppers that are chemically similar in structure to capsaicin, the compound that gives chili peppers their heat.

Through crossbreeding various peppers, he said, Our geneticists believe we stumbled upon the right mixture of genes to increase capsaicin production. The pepper took over 10 years to cultivate and comes in a variety of colors ranging from yellow, orange, off-green, and chocolatey brown.

At this time, Currie has not disclosed which peppers were crossbred to create Pepper X. We can speculate, based upon its similarly gnarled blistered appearance to the Carolina Reaper, similar pepper species may have been used. The Carolina Reaper was created through crossbreeding a La Soufriere pepper from St. Vincent and a Naga Viper pepper from Pakistan.

Currie did say in a Hot Ones interview, When we started the cross there were two peppers I really loved the flavor of but neither of them were going to be hot enough for my taste.

The Last Dab Triple X History

As mentioned earlier, the Last Dab Triple X is the third iteration of The Last Dab, which made its debut in season four of Hot Ones, presented by First we Feast, which originally aired in 2017. It was developed with the help of Smokin Ed Currie and the Heatonist. The goal was to create the number 10 sauce for the show that was hotter than the rest but without the help of pepper extracts. One of the reasons the creators did not want to use extracts was to try and develop something with extremely high Scoville units, but that also tasted good.

It was the coming out party of Ed Curries new pepper at the time, Pepper X. The hot sauce was originally not available publicly on the market and only available to guests of Hot Ones.

The Last Dab featured in seasons four and five. It was then replaced by the Last Dab Reduxx for seasons six through nine, which was finally replaced by the Last Dab Triple X which made its debut in season 10.

The differences between each iteration of the Last Dab hot sauces are the varieties of Pepper X being used. The original only had Pepper X, Reduxx had Pepper X and Chocolate Pepper X, and Triple X uses Pepper X, Chocolate Pepper X, and Peach Pepper X. All editions have been described to have similar taste and heat profiles. Some say Reduxx was slightly hotter than the original and Triple X is almost identical to Reduxx. Unfortunately, we have not been able to purchase the first two editions of the Last Dab hot sauce to do our own taste comparisons.

Is Apollo Hotter Than Last Dab

Apollo is a cross between the Carolina Reaper and the Pepper X, and its flavor is a blend of the fruity flavor of the Reaper and the earthy flavor of the Pepper X. Apollo is a hybrid between the Carolina Reaper and the Pepper X. According to Sean, this is by far the sexiest rendition of the Last Dab that he has ever seen.

Reactions to The Last Dab Triple X have been positive. It is an extremely spicy hot sauce so a small amount, or dab, goes pretty far. It is one of those sauces where there is a tipping point: add a little and you enjoy a very spicy but manageable burn, but add too much and your mouth becomes overwhelmed and a physiological overload begins to take place.

    Spiciness And Scoville Rating

This sauce is incredibly spicy, theres no escaping that fact. The Last Dab Redux has a minimum Scoville rating of 2 million SHUs, but this can sometimes be even higher, so this puts it at the extreme end of the hot sauce world and is certainly not one for the faint of heart.

The peppers used in this sauce are known as Pepper X, which are made by the same man who created the notorious Carolina Reaper. That man is Ed Currie, and his wealth of experience has packed over 3 million Scoville units into Pepper X peppers, which is why The Last Dab is so hot.

The beauty of this sauce is that while its got the heat for people who do want to challenge themselves, it is quite manageable in smaller doses. The heat does tend to build up slowly and can overwhelm people who arent cautious, so its best to take it slowly and have some milk ready to cut the heat if the heat starts to become uncomfortable.

This is important to note because the sauce is genuinely flavorful and its easy to forget on first tasting how much heat youll eventually have to deal with.

How Long Will This Sauce Keep

It should keep a few months easily in the fridge, or even longer. Its all about the acidity. Target level ph for shelf stable foods is below 4.6 ph, but should probably be lower for home cooks, around 3.5 or so, to account for errors. If youre concerned, add more vinegar to lower the ph.

This Guest Scored Some Serious Youtube Views

In order to snag as many YouTube views as possible, users must upload content people crave. Adorable animals doing hilarious things proves one way to amass attention. Anything having to do with cooking and kitchen tips also seems to garner plenty of traction nowadays. But, theres another key component thats bringing numbers up into the millions: Kevin Hart.

Harts popularity exploded over the last few years, so Hot Ones pounced on the opportunity to sit down with the Hollywood heavy-hitter and watch him take on the infamous Hot Ones challenge. To say the YouTube views quickly racked up is a gross understatement, and Hot Ones has over 20 million ways to prove it .

Thats right, over 20 million people tuned in at some point to watch the comedian struggle through all 10 meaty morsels of mayhem. He made it, but not without a whole lot of laughter, winces, sniffles, and, of course, milk. By the end, the intensity even forced Hart to admit he felt drunk. Its nice to know a guy who seems to conquer everything thrown at him is human just like the rest of us.

The Last Dab Apollo Hot Sauce – Hot Pepper Lift Off – Pepper Geek

Debuting on season 11 of Hot Ones, the Widow Maker took the number 9 spot on the spicy wing lineup. This means it is undoubtedly spicy to the everyday person, but it only marks the halfway point on our hot sauce Scoville scale list.

Dingo Sauce Co. is based in Western Australia and makes a variety of hot sauces. The aptly named Widow Maker hot sauce uses a blend of 6 different varieties of superhot peppers as the first ingredient. This means serious heat.

However, the sauce also incorporates complementary flavors like lime, garlic and brown sugar, making this a sauce some might actually use. We like the sauces that offer both heat and flavor.

Dingos Widow Maker comes in at an impressive 682,000 SHUs on the Scoville scale, making it one of the hottest all-natural hot sauces in our collection. Without the use of pepper extract, its not common to see Scoville ratings this high.

    Satans Blood 800000 Shus

And now weve enteredare you kidding me? territory. This is only loosely described as a hot sauce since the ingredients consist of pepper extract, an emulsifier, and vinegar. Satans Blood is not intended to be used to enhance the flavor of food. The only goal was to make food fiery hot.

I would have to say that they succeeded.

I think the reason I bought it was the sinister packaging, coming in a bottle that looks like an evil witchs poison vial.

Yes, I have tasted this substance. It was not pleasant. It was hardly even food. But it was probably the hottest, most concentrated spicy food Ive ever eaten. This is why I included an asterisk next to the Scoville rating

Though Satans Blood has been officially rated at 800,000 SHUs on the Scoville scale, the experience is much more intense than previously mentioned hot sauces. This is almost entirely made of pepper extract, a concentration of capsaicin in liquid form. No flavor, just heat.
