What Is Arbys Sauce Made Of

Its ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, a bit of tabasco, and some onion powder and garlic powder. Yes, its barbecue sauce, more or less, but its one with the perfect balance and zing and since its a bit thinner its as great for dipping as it is drizzled over a shaved roast beef sandwich.

Spicy Three Pepper Sauce

Take Arby’s Sauce and fill it with savory, flavorful heat, and you’ll have their Spicy Three Pepper Sauce. It’s tangy and spicy, but not overwhelmingly so. Like Horsey Sauce, you can also use it to complement other sauces for added heat and flavor, and we don’t think there’s an item on the menu that doesn’t benefit from its addition.

Arby’s Signature Horsey Sauce Now Available By The Bottle

Arby’s signature sauces, including Arby’s Sauce and Horsey Sauce, are now available by the bottle nationwide at Arby’s restaurants for a limited time.

To celebrate the launch of the bottled sauces during Halloween season, Arby’s has launched a “Saucepocalypse” marketing campaign. Arby’s turned fans’ Saucepocalypse stories into 50’s-style horror movie posters that are now viewable on the brand’s Facebook and Twitter channels.

“We know from social media that our fans hate running out of sauce,” said Josh Martin, social media manager at Arby’s Restaurant Group Inc. “Some even hoard packets and keep a back-up stash at home. We’re hoping our new bottled sauces make it that much easier to enjoy Arby’s signature flavors anytime you want.”

Leading up to Halloween, Arby’s used Facebook and Twitter to gather fans’ “Saucepocalypse horror stories.” Fans responded with stories ranging from eating mom’s dry meatloaf to showing up at a barbecue where there’s no sauce. The best stories were then sent to the London-based illustrator duo The Red Dress comprised of artists Olivia Chancellor and Ollie Bland who turned the stories into movie posters. A conversation also took place via social media using the hashtag #Saucepocalypse.

The campaign was created in partnership with Arby’s ad agency, CP+B.

Why This Copycat Arbys Sauce Works

Ive lost a taste for fast food in the past decade or so, but prior to that I had a few indulgences. One of them was a sandwich from Arbys a Roast Beef Sandwich TOTALLY SLATHERED in Arbys Sauce. I would open like three packets and just douse that succulent meat until it could no longer breathe.

So imagine my delight upon realizing that I could make the sauce myself. With only a few ingredients. Heaven! This tastes just like the real deal. It is sooo good atop a heaping pile of roast beef. Enjoy, friends!

How To Make Arby’s Sauce

Upon doing an initial taste test between my meatloaf sauce and the Arby’s Sauce I instantly noticed their tangy BBQ sauce had a strong flavor of Worchestshire. When tweaking my recipe I found 2 tablespoons to be a bit too much, but 4 teaspoons put us pretty dang close. Arby’s sauce also had a subtle heat I didn’t initially notice. Cayenne pepper seems to replicate it nicely.

Though the sauce tastes great simply mixed together, it really needs to be simmered briefly on the stove top. This melts the brown sugar into the sauce, giving you a smoother texture.

I store my copycat Arby’s Sauce in canning jars, however, you can buy empty sauce bottles as well.

Tips For The Best Sauce

  • Youll need to give the ingredients in the sauce to marry. Cooking the sauce on low heat for 20 minutes will allow the elements to blend together into one harmonious, lip-smacking sauce. No matter what you do, be sure you do not skip that part.
  • Do not be tempted to increase the heat to speed up the cooking process. It really does need those 20 minutes for the flavors to marry.
  • Stir the sauce frequently as it simmers, especially during the last 10 minutes, when it begins to thicken. If you do not stir often enough, the sauce will start to clot and form lumps.
  • The ingredients in this recipe create the perfect balance of flavors. Thats what makes this sauce a cut above the rest. But that shouldnt stop you from trying other variations. Here are some ways you can switch things up:
  • Add Creole or Cajun seasoning for more spice and flavor.
  • Use molasses instead of brown sugar.
  • Add cayenne pepper for more heat.
  • Sprinkle a bit of paprika to add smokiness.
  • Add a dash of Worcestershire sauce for a deeper flavor.
