The closest Buc-ees to me is in Katy, TX, which is about 30 minutes west of downtown Houston. This location has the worlds longest car wash!

The car wash is very efficiently ran. There are multiple lines so that traffic continues flowing. When its your turn to go, drive towards the car wash. An attendant will direct you to drive on to the conveyer, put your car in neutral, and enjoy the ride.

The car wash is even a rainbow car wash so Im sure your kids will love it!

Carolina Reaper Hot Sauce

This was the worst one to try for me. It brought back too many painful memories to one of my trips to the San Antonio River Walk in 2015. Inside of the Shops at Rivercenter, there used to be a hot sauce store right above the food court. They had a chili challenge where you tasted one drop of their hottest sauce. Now the $6 Buc-ees Carolina Reaper hot saucewas tame compared to that experience, but it was the second hottest thing Ive ever eaten.

I do enjoy hot chili, but this was stupid hot. I learned from the wasabi peas not to touch my face. I drank two cups of water, a large glass of milk, and about 15 scoops of HEB Creamy Creation ice cream, none of which seemed to help me out. Ever breath felt like I had taken another dab of the willow. I felt like I didnt have any taste buds after the test and Im still feeling the after effects this morning. I made the mistake of doing research while my mouth was on fire, instead of before.

This one will sit in my cupboard for a few years or at least until my little brother visits the 210. If I dont see this sauce on the show Hot Ones then I know they arent doing it right.

Tru Chopped Bbq Beef Brisket Sandwich

I keep expecting some of this food to be bad, but its all decent-as in better than a high school cafeteria. This chopped beef sandwich is no different. Its a nice and serviceable sammy that despite its use of ketchup and liquid smoke, remains tasty and perfectly capable gas station roadway fare. Bless the Alpin family for packaging these with onions and pickles as thats the only way to eat a bbq sandwich. Bless them for adding plenty of pepper and even getting what appears to be a bark on the brisket theyll serve at a convenience store where lots of people wouldnt notice if they had scooped it out of a freezer bag from Costco. The brisket isnt cooked onsite, so they may do this, but the fact that theyre willing to chop it in front of us should mean something. God bless Buc-ees for only taking inconsequential shortcuts and not participating in any grand-scale half-assery. Youve denied cheats that bring shame to your fellow statesmen who extol the virtues of Texas BBQ above all else.

Hot To Make Superhot Hot Sauce The Recipe Method

Roast the Peppers. Heat an oven to 400 degrees. Set the superhot chili peppers and garlic on a baking sheet and bake them about 15-20 minutes, or until the skins slightly char. Keep an eye on these. You dont want them to burn, and watch out for any fumes.

Alternatively, do this on your grill outside.

Process the Ingredients. Add peppers to a food processor. Squeeze garlic out of their skins and into the food processor they go. Add basil leaves and process.

Vinegar. While processing, add in vinegar until it is nicely pureed. Watch out for the fumes!

Salt and Strain, if Desired. Add salt and stir. Push the sauce through a strainer or use a food mill to really strain it, if desired. Adjust with more vinegar or water to your desired consistency.

NOTE: I dont always strain. It really depends on how thick you want your hot sauce.

Bottle It Up. Pour into bottles and enjoy. Give to your friends! The longer you let it sit, the more the flavors will meld.

Hill Country Brand Bohemian Recipe Garlic Beef Jerky

When I told the Buc-ees Nug-ees sample evangelist I got this jerky she told me it was the number one seller. This either truly is their best seller or Buc-ees employees are trained to say that about anything you chose as a marketing ploy to up your level of delightment. Buc-ees is such a well-oiled machine I wouldnt put the later statement past them. Im not sure whats bohemian about this because it really just tastes like a teriyaki style jerky with heavy garlic and pepper. I think they just know that BOHO is having a moment so they went with it. Its ok, but honestly a little ho-hum. I do prefer the thick, gnarled chunkiness of this versus the cardboard-like meat slates everyone else deals in these days.

Load Up On Some Jerky To Enjoy Later

You cant visit Texas without enjoying some beef jerky! I think beef jerky is the best road trip snack because its filing, high in protein, and delicious.

Buc-ees has a ton of different kinds of fancy jerky available for purchase. This isnt some Jack Link jerky you can get at any old grocery store this stuff is freshly made with tons of really unique but delicious flavors available.

I certainly havent tried all the jerky varieties but my favorite so far is the cherry maple beef jerky. Sweet, savory, and totally delicious!

Cranberry Pecan Chicken Salad Croissant

You should judge gas station food off the outcomes from consuming items that can make you sick or kill you, e.g. chicken salad, sushi, or pasta with blowfish dried mullet roe. Not only do I love croissants and croissanwiches, but I also needed to see if this chicken will make us sick. Not only did it not make me sick, it made me pretty dang happy. The chicken salad is chunky and not overly mayo-ed. Its slightly sweet from the cranberries and there is a nice crunch from time to time from the pecans. The croissant is buttery and light. However, Im not sure why only half of the croissant is being used, but Ive never been mad at a bread flap before. How Long Will This Hot Sauce Keep

It should keep a few months easily in the fridge, or even longer. Its all about the acidity. To be technical, target level ph for shelf stable foods is below 4.6 ph, but should probably be lower for home cooks, around 4.0 or so, to account for errors.

I have not measured the ph of this sauce, but I wont have it around very long anyway. If youre concerned, add more vinegar to lower the ph.

The best ph meters that I recommend are from Thermoworks. Get yourself a ph meter from Thermoworks today. I am a happy affiliate.

With superhots, you can expect a wide range of heat, though the majority of them start at over 1 Million SHU. Some will approach or surpass 2 Million SHU, which is somewhat insane, but again, these are ranges so you can typically expect your pepper heat to fall in the middle somewhere.

The heat depends on many factors, such as soil and growing conditions of the particular peppers. Well, my peppers must have been grown under some ideal conditions, because they were HOT. Yeah! Nice and hot! Top of the range. I didnt not want them to go to waste, so I turned the majority of them into a hot sauce that I still have today.

This is a Louisiana style hot sauce with a few extras added in for flavor. A Louisiana style hot sauce consists of peppers and vinegar, and theyre extremely popular.

With good reason. This superhot version brings in the variety of superhots and adds in roasted garlic and basil. Thats it, with a bit of salt. You can expect variable results depending on the chili peppers you choose to work with.

To push for the top end of the scale, use only Reapers or 7-Pot Brain Strains if you can get them. Pure Scorpions would be crazy killer hot. Or vary it up like I did. You can also make this with roasted jalapenos, or pretty much any pepper you prefer.

Choose your peppers with love. That is always a good place to start.

Hottest Sauce In The Universe The 2nd Dimension

While its not quite the hottest sauce in the universe, its fairly close. The people at Pepper Palace make each batch with 40 pounds of ghost peppers, clocking in at 3.5 million Scoville units. That makes it 3 times hotter than the infamous ghost pepper. Better watch out, otherwise this sauce will send you back a dimension or two.

Can Hot Sauce Kill You


It is possible to overdose on capsaicin, the chemical that makes chili peppers hot. However, the only way you can die from eating hot sauce is if the sauce if sufficiently hot and you eat it in sufficient quantity.

Mankind has been heating up its meals with hot sauce for generations. In fact, experts agree that hot sauce goes back as far as Mayan times. However, just a mixture of peppers and water, the first sauces were far simpler and would be unrecognizable by todays standards.
