Three fiery sauces were born for the start of Hot Ones the game show. Eye of the Scorpion hot sauce is considered the 2nd spiciest of the trio. However, I think that it is the tastiest of them all.
The Constrictor is at the top for heat level, containing basically just Carolina Reaper peppers and a few drops of vinegar. It really is brutally hot.
Brain Burner was surprisingly spicy for a starter sauce on the game show. It was also pretty tasty with scotch bonnets and reapers.
Label ArtworkA quick note on the artwork I love this design by tattoo artist Matthew Henning . This particular design of a one-eyed scorpion reminds me of a Zelda boss whose eye needs a good stabbing.

Here with go with the second hot sauce from the Hot Ones game show Hot Ones Eye Of The Scorpion. Ill tell you what, Im really looking forward to this, and Im viewing it as a bit of a redemption opportunity for the brand. Im a fan of the standard sauces in the Hot Ones collection. The classic, Los Calientes, and The Last Dab are all really solid sauces in their own right. They all bring a proper mixture of flavor and heat to the party and thats what Im looking for from a sauce. There are some real spice fiends out there in the world looking for PAINNNNNNN, not me, Im here for the flavor and the spice.
Anywaythe first sauce from the game show really destroyed me. Im rocking a pretty high heat tolerance these days and the Hot Ones Brain Burner sauce was almost straight heat. Frankly, it was a little off-putting and a very extreme experience. I totally understand the reactions from the show contestants. That combination of Reaper and Scotch Bonnet peppers really hit the gut hard.

Eye of the Scorpion hot sauce is just thick enough to not come dumping out of the bottle. It holds its shape on a spoon, but is just thin enough to pour safely.
The color of this hot sauce is a sinister, deep crimson red. It is full of seeds and pepper chunks, and on the fringes you can see the scorpion powder flecks suspended in the liquid.

Welcome back to another hot sauce review here in PBs Kitchen. Todays tray of wings . Along with the Tabasco Habanero sauce, I had one tender with a dollop or two of Eye of the Scorpion, another of the sauces from First We Feast and Heatonist. It came back in one of my Heatonist Subscription Boxes a while back and Id, well, Id sort of been putting off trying it, to be honest. Why? Because the sauce was created for the Hot Ones Gameshow that they have on Tru TV, just like they did with Brain Burner. The sauces made for the show are made to be ridiculously hot. Theyre made to be painful. Theyre made to make you feel like your mouth is on fire. And, I mean, being Heatonist, theyre still going to try and make the sauces taste good to birds, I suppose . But yeah, this is going to be painful and Ive not really been looking forward to it. But Im here for science and completeness, and I cant let a sauce go untried, even if it means chugging a gallon of water afterward. Lets get to it.
