Last Dab Hot Sauce Consistency
The Last Dab XXX is no different than its predecessors. This sauce is super thick and takes some serious dabbing to get any sauce out of the bottle. However, this is probably for the best.
Given the high-heat level, you wouldnt want to accidentally over-pour and ruin your meal with too much heat. If you keep dabbin, youll be able to get just the right amount to satisfy your spice craving.

Spiciness And Scoville Rating
This sauce is incredibly spicy, theres no escaping that fact. The Last Dab Redux has a minimum Scoville rating of 2 million SHUs, but this can sometimes be even higher, so this puts it at the extreme end of the hot sauce world and is certainly not one for the faint of heart.
The peppers used in this sauce are known as Pepper X, which are made by the same man who created the notorious Carolina Reaper. That man is Ed Currie, and his wealth of experience has packed over 3 million Scoville units into Pepper X peppers, which is why The Last Dab is so hot.
The beauty of this sauce is that while its got the heat for people who do want to challenge themselves, it is quite manageable in smaller doses. The heat does tend to build up slowly and can overwhelm people who arent cautious, so its best to take it slowly and have some milk ready to cut the heat if the heat starts to become uncomfortable.
This is important to note because the sauce is genuinely flavorful and its easy to forget on first tasting how much heat youll eventually have to deal with.

The Last Dab Triple X History
As mentioned earlier, the Last Dab Triple X is the third iteration of The Last Dab, which made its debut in season four of Hot Ones, presented by First we Feast, which originally aired in 2017. It was developed with the help of Smokin Ed Currie and the Heatonist. The goal was to create the number 10 sauce for the show that was hotter than the rest but without the help of pepper extracts. One of the reasons the creators did not want to use extracts was to try and develop something with extremely high Scoville units, but that also tasted good.
It was the coming out party of Ed Curries new pepper at the time, Pepper X. The hot sauce was originally not available publicly on the market and only available to guests of Hot Ones.
The Last Dab featured in seasons four and five. It was then replaced by the Last Dab Reduxx for seasons six through nine, which was finally replaced by the Last Dab Triple X which made its debut in season 10.
The differences between each iteration of the Last Dab hot sauces are the varieties of Pepper X being used. The original only had Pepper X, Reduxx had Pepper X and Chocolate Pepper X, and Triple X uses Pepper X, Chocolate Pepper X, and Peach Pepper X. All editions have been described to have similar taste and heat profiles. Some say Reduxx was slightly hotter than the original and Triple X is almost identical to Reduxx. Unfortunately, we have not been able to purchase the first two editions of the Last Dab hot sauce to do our own taste comparisons.

This Guest Scored Some Serious Youtube Views
In order to snag as many YouTube views as possible, users must upload content people crave. Adorable animals doing hilarious things proves one way to amass attention. Anything having to do with cooking and kitchen tips also seems to garner plenty of traction nowadays. But, there’s another key component that’s bringing numbers up into the millions: Kevin Hart.
Hart’s popularity exploded over the last few years, so Hot Ones pounced on the opportunity to sit down with the Hollywood heavy-hitter and watch him take on the infamous Hot Ones challenge. To say the YouTube views quickly racked up is a gross understatement, and Hot Ones has over 20 million ways to prove it .
That’s right, over 20 million people tuned in at some point to watch the comedian struggle through all 10 meaty morsels of mayhem. He made it, but not without a whole lot of laughter, winces, sniffles, and, of course, milk. By the end, the intensity even forced Hart to admit he felt “drunk.” It’s nice to know a guy who seems to conquer everything thrown at him is human just like the rest of us.

What Is Pepper X
Pepper X is a creation of Ed Currie out in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Ed Currie and his company Puckerbutt Pepper Company are world famous for creating the hottest peppers on the planet. His previous record holder, the Carolina Reaper, has an average of 1,569,300 Scoville units.
In a Today article highlighting Pepper X, Currie gave some background on his latest creation. Currie originally was looking to create a pepper with specific cancer fighting, sub-capsinoids. Sub-capsinoids are substances found in chili peppers that are chemically similar in structure to capsaicin, the compound that gives chili peppers their heat.
Through crossbreeding various peppers, he said, Our geneticists believe we stumbled upon the right mixture of genes to increase capsaicin production. The pepper took over 10 years to cultivate and comes in a variety of colors ranging from yellow, orange, off-green, and chocolatey brown.
At this time, Currie has not disclosed which peppers were crossbred to create Pepper X. We can speculate, based upon its similarly gnarled blistered appearance to the Carolina Reaper, similar pepper species may have been used. The Carolina Reaper was created through crossbreeding a La Soufriere pepper from St. Vincent and a Naga Viper pepper from Pakistan.
Currie did say in a Hot Ones interview, When we started the cross there were two peppers I really loved the flavor of but neither of them were going to be hot enough for my taste.
Some Guests Opt For Vegan Wings Instead
In a culinary world constantly striving to cater to those with allergies and dietary restrictions, a massive push to create “meatless” meat grows larger every day. Once upon a time, eating a burger consisting entirely of vegetables and grains sounded unappealing to even a strict herbivore. But, when the brightest minds in the world take to the kitchen, vegetarian and vegan options are now far more palatable.
Not a show to turn away anyone willing to take on the treacherous 10, when a celebrity with dietary requests roll through, Hot Ones accommodates. For example, Natalie Portman sat down with Evans to promote a new film discussing the alarming state of America’s factory farming, and no way in hell would the vegan eat plump wings of meat. So, Hot Ones happily provided her vegan wings . They did the same thing for Russell Brand and Ricky Gervais, as well. And Evans, although clearly a meat connoisseur, sacrificed his love of animal and ate the vegan wings with them. What a guy.

The Best Blender For Hot Sauce
The more powerful your blender is, the smoother your hot sauce will be. I use my Vitamix 5200 which can liquify just about anything.
If you have a less powerful blender, you may need to let it blend for longer to get a smooth texture. And I don’t recommend using an immersion blender for this.
Regardless of what blender you use, you’ll still want to push the hot sauce through a wire mesh strainer before bottling!
Hot Ones’ The Last Dab Scoville Units Vs Reality
The Last Dab has 2 million-plus Scoville units, comparable to some pepper sprays. Serious stuff, right? Hot Ones guests seem to think so. Some who bought the sauce, though, have been less impressed. Reviews of The Last Dab mention how tasty it is it’s made with mustard, ginger root, coriander, and turmeric, and the flavor profile includes hints of chocolate and peach as well as pepper. Still, not everyone agrees with Heatonist‘s claim that the sauce rates 11 out of 10 for hotness. Reviews on the product page include comments such as “If you’re accustomed to hot sauces, this won’t blow your face off with heat,” “upper medium heat with a few spikes here and there,” “this stuff honestly isn’t that hot,” and “I’ve experienced hotter jalapenos. Underwhelming if that’s all PepperX has to offer.”
A Reddit thread about The Last Dab came to a similar consensus, finding the sauce to be delicious but only moderately hot. One possible explanation put forward was that The Last Dab gets its heat from actual peppers, whereas some of the hot-enough-to-cause-real-pain sauces are made with pepper extracts. Extract-based sauces may not have the same high Scoville count, but pepper extract is, as one Redditor put it, “like napalm. It sticks to your mouth.” Whether or not you find The Last Dab all that hot, if you manage to taste it without whimpering, then you’ve survived the worst that Hot Ones can dish out.

This Guest Sought Medical Help After The Interview
Sometimes all the milk, bread, and calculated breaths in the world just aren’t enough to stop the solar plumes erupting in guests’ mouths. Although a trip to the emergency room is always a last resort, when push comes to shove, the help of a professional hospital staff certainly brings about a proper peace of mind. Just ask Chrissy Teigen.
A self-proclaimed “hot wing freak,” Teigen confidently spoke with Evans, fully aware of the spice mountain she needed to traverse. She handled the interview like a champion, answering his questions with her Teigen-like enthusiasm, until she reached Da Bomb. She toughed it out, but the next day found herself sitting in her throat doctor’s office with an overly chaffed tongue and uncontrollable twitches in both her eyebrows. She credits the disaster to over-indulging on way too many salty Ruffles chips the night before, which left her tongue “raw.” Combine a raw tongue with the hot sauce, and yikes.
Like any celebrity with a huge social media following, she took to Twitter to share her woes. She admitted to needing a two-week dose of CBD pills to end her eyebrow twitches, which she attributed to Da Bomb hot sauce.
John Legend, you sure know how to pick ’em.
Is The Classic Hot Sauce Worth It
If you havent tried it and you are a hot sauce buff, then The Classic is worth at least one try. It is on the pricy side when compared to cheap grocery store alternatives, but the quality is much better than those options. Hot Ones have made some of our favorite sauces, and this is now among the top-rated.

Last Dab Apollo Consistency
Like former Last Dabs, Apollo is thick and chunky. The fresh peppers are almost chewable and the vinegar is kept at a relatively low concentration. This means the sauce pours nice and slowly, as youd want with this much fire power.
The color is a deep red, hinting that the Apollo pepper may have a darker color than the original Reaper. Some red pepper varieties are bright red while others can have a deeper, more burgundy look when full ripe. Time will tell!
