Dragon’s Breath 2480000 Shu
With an estimated 280,000 SHU more than the Carolina Reaper, Dragon’s Breath is set to take the title of hottest pepper should Pepper X not be able to make it. This tiny, mean-looking pepper is the stuff of dreams or nightmares, depending on how you like your spice. There are even studies by Nottingham Trent University into the effectiveness of using natural oils from Dragon’s Breath in clinical settings. Let’s just say that Dragon’s Breath isn’t playing around. And with a name like that, what else would you expect other than an insanely spicy burn?

Red Savina Habanero Pepper 500000 Shus
Red Savina Habanero
This is by no means the hottest pepper in the world. However, were putting it here because you can easily find Habaneros at your local grocery store. This is the baseline, a point of reference to compare to the much hotter peppers that exist.
If you have tried a Habanero, you have an idea of how hot the Red Savina is. This extra hot, unique variety of Habanero comes in around 500,000 SHUs. That is roughly twice as hot as a common Habanero, but still relatively tame when compared to the rest of the peppers on this list.
You can get seeds for the Red Savina here. Even this pepper, the least spicy pepper on this list, is far too spicy for most to handle. A prolific producing plant could leave you with 40+ Red Savina Habaneros at the end of a single growing season, so be sure you have a plan for what to do with your peppers!

Predator Great White Shark Hot Sauce
There’s a great term called benign masochism that you see tossed around to describe people who enjoy things like hot sauce. It’s a way to get your thrills without facing any real danger. Like diving in a shark cage. Or dripping some Predator Great White Shark on your food.
For fans of this hot sauce, every week is shark week! This stuff is only 175,000 Scoville units, so even though it’s very hot, the great white of hot sauce is still at the bottom of this list. On , a reviewer had this to say about how he uses Predator, “I use this stuff whenever I want to reliably adjust the heat of a dish or drink without having to dump in a gallon of sauce. It’s very efficient. I’d say about 5 drops of this stuff will warm up a gallon of bloody mary mix about as much as an entire bottle of tobasco would.”
This hot sauce contains vinegar, habaneros, papaya, bananas, and pineapple. No sharks were harmed in the making of this hot sauce.
Trinidad Scorpion Butch T
The Butch T is just barely less spicy than number four on the Worlds Hottest Peppers list. It measures 1,463,700 SHU. This pepper shares its nickname with its original cultivator Butch Taylor. The pepper held the title of Worlds Hottest Pepper in 2011. This is another one of the scorpion peppers, however, the pepper has much smoother skin than some of the other Scorpion peppers.
While some hot peppers are deceptivelysweet or flavorful at first, this one burns right awayin a bigway!

Trinidad Scorpion Butch T 1463700 Shu
Back in 2011, Butch T took the top spot on the hottest peppers in the world list. And while it’s fallen in the rankings since then, it’s still a feisty and fiery chili. With up to 1,463,700 Scoville heat units, the Butch T brings an estimated 585 times more heat than the average jalapeño. It has a unique look with a large, top-heavy red body that tapers into a fine pointsimilar in appearance to that of a spinning top.
However, Butch T isnt playing any games. While there is a sweetness to be found in the flavour, much like the other Trinidad Scorpion varieties, it provides a super-hot experience for spicy thrill-seekers. It’s not uncommon to find Butch T in a variety of hot sauces. However, it is often favoured as a powder to be added to Mexican and Indian dishes for maximum potency.

Safety Tips For Working With Carolina Reaper Peppers & Other Superhots
- Wear Gloves. Chili peppers, and superhots in particular, contain oils that can cause burning sensations on your skin if you touch them directly, particularly when you chop them or cut them open. It is best to wear gloves when working with them. Try not to touch other parts of your skin, like your face or elsewhere. If you do, see my page on How to Stop the Chili Pepper Burn.
- Avoid the Fumes. You’re most likely cooking indoors in your kitchen, so beware of the fumes. These peppers give off fumes that can make it difficult to breath, a bit like pepper spray wafting into the air. Open up as many windows as you can, and use a fan to combat the fumes. Try baking the peppers outside, on your grill, for example, if possible.

Pot Douglah 923889 To 1853986 Shu
The 7 Pot Douglah is not your typical 7 Pot pepper. It ages to a chocolate-brown and has more of a sweet and nutty flavor than fruity. And in terms of heat, its a major uptick from other 7 Pots at its peak it nears the 2 million Scoville heat unit mark, which only a few chilies ever come close to .

The seven-pot Douglah earned its place in the pepper community as one of the hottest peppers in the world, though with the best flavor.
Not just that. It is the fieriest chili you can find on this earth that isnt red.
Usually, we believe superhot peppers are traditionally red.
However, douglah defies the odds by being dark chocolate brown and somewhat pimpled. It starts off green but matures fully to brown.
You can never go wrong with fresh, dried, or powdered seven pod douglah in any food.

Dragons Breath Pepper 2480000 Shu
The Dragons Breath has received a lot of attention in 2017 for its potentially record-breaking spiciness. Put it this way, the Dragons Breath was originally grown for medicinal use, to use its high level of capsaicin as an anesthetic. Initial tests indicated a peak Scoville rating of 2,480,000 SHU. That would easily beat the Carolina Reaper, but more testing and official Guinness records judging are in order to definitively declare the Dragons Breath chili as the winner of the hottest peppers top spot. For now, its an honorable mention as an extreme chili even among extreme chilies.
Chilisaucen Von Mildbis Wild:

Pot Barrackpore 1300000 Shu
From the town of Barrackpore, located in southern Trinidad and Tobago, the 7 Pot Barrackpore bears a red, fleshy appearance culminating in a pointy end, which could almost serve as a warning. In short, it looks mean. With the potential to be 520 times hotter than the average jalapeño, the 7 Pot Barrackpore provides a SHU of anywhere up to 1,300,000, which is bound to blow many away when they get their hands on it.
Leaning toward a much more bitter taste, this is a savoury pepper with very little sweetness going for it. However, it works as a superb ingredient in hot salsas and sauces. The 7 Pot Barrackpore is definitely a rare one on our list, with it being quite hard to find in food shops. Many have taken to growing this one at home to produce their own supply.

Pot Primo 1469000 Shu
7 Pot Primo crosses between a Naga Morich and a Trinidad 7 Pot pepper.
For some reason, 7 Pot Primo coincidentally looks like the Carolina Reaper.
It has red and gnarled, with a bumpy texture and a unique stinger tail too. However, it is quite distinctive with its long skinny tail.
And what does that tell you? That it is going to be INSANELY hot.
Chocolate Bhutlah 2000000 Shu
Don’t be fooled by the name of this chili you won’t be popping these into your mouth like your favourite bonbons. Called the Chocolate Bhutlah, this fiery friend does have a similar colour to cocoa, but with a potential 2,000,000 SHU, it’s a force to be reckoned with. Unlike some peppers on our list, this one is fast-acting and instantly heats the mouth as soon as you bite into it. And once the heat hits, it’s going to be there for a while, so it might be worth having some milk, yoghurt, or ice cream to hand to try and put out this fire as soon as it gets going.
Because of its instant and relentless heat, the Chocolate Bhutlah is often included in scorching sauces. Just a drop or two is enough to take your dish to the next level so use sparingly, and you’ll be in for a spicy treat.
