Hot Ones Los Calientes Rojo Hot Sauce
Scoville Units: 49,000
If the original Los Calientes is A New Hope, Los Calientes Rojo is The Empire Strikes Back. Hotter than the original Los Calientes, this version utilizes applewood smoked red jalapeños in addition to habaneros. I feel apricot is an under-appreciated fruit and flavor so Im glad such a big-time sauce features it. Hardcore fans will tell you that this one, not the Original, is the best Hot Ones hot sauce to buy.
Scoville Units: 24,000
Torchbearer Sauces joins High River Sauces with the distinction of making the list of best Hot Ones sauces twice! Sweet, smoky and sensational. They call this one a wing sauce and I think this is the best of the 16 on this list to use on wings if you were only to choose one. You cant go wrong with the flavors of chipotle, garlic, honey, ghost pepper, habanero, and even the mandarin orange comes through.
Brooklyn Delhi Tomato Achaar
This is a chili sauce rather than a hot sauceso it has a thicker, jammier texture. But it’ll serve you just as well as any hot sauce on eggs, sandwiches, curries, and wherever you want some heat. In addition to spice it offers tangy sweetness from tamarind and savory depth from asafetida and fenugreek.

Torchbearer Garlic Reaper Sauce
You know whats better than garlic? Spicy hot sauce. You know whats better than both of those on their own? Both of them combined. Everything you see is gluten-free, non-GMO, all natural, and extract-free. Just like our last pick, Torchbearer Garlic Reaper Sauce was also features on Hot Ones, and uses a blend of some of the spiciest stuff on earth to maker knees weak and arms heavy. Its Carolina reaper peppersthe second-hottest peppers in the worldand garlic, with a hint of chili powder.
While they may sound like heaven, its going to sting like hell. Theyve added enough ingredients to make the Carolina reapers power diminish quite a bit, but it still has 116,000 Scoville units of heat, so its definitely hot enough to entice your heat-seeking side. For comparison, most tobacco sauces only have a maximum of 30,000 Scoville units. If you are looking for the right lunch box, be sure to check out our selection of the best ones on the market.
So Good You’ll Forget How Hot It Is: El Yucateco Xxxtra Hot Salsa Kutbil
Heat level: Very hot
Flavor: I love this stuff intensely. The main flavor is that of fruity habanero chilies that have been charred to give them a distinct smokiness. Multiple times a month, I bring it to the table and start adding it willy-nilly to my food, before realizing that, once again, I was so looking forward to its flavor that I completely forgot about its not-insignificant heat. My wife, Adri, finds this amusing. I don’t know why I keep doing it over and over, but I don’t carethat flavor is worth it.

A Lime Lover’s Hot Sauce: Sinclair’s Fatalii Hot Sauce
Heat level: Hot
Flavor: Sinclair’s Fatalii has a strong lime flavor that pairs nicely with citrusy Fatalii peppers. If you’re a fan of lime-flavored tortilla chips, its aroma is quite similar if you’re not, you might want to pass on this bottle. With apple cider vinegar as its first ingredient, it also starts and finishes with a mouth-puckering vinegariness. I’d pair it with creamy or rich foods, like quesadillas, pizza, and macaroni and cheese.
A Childhood Favorite Returns: Todd’s Inner Beauty
Heat level: Hot
Flavor: Anyone who’s lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the last several decades is familiar with Inner Beauty, the hot sauce made famous at Chris Schlesinger’s East Coast Grill. His original recipe, which blends mustard with habanero peppers, molasses, Chardonnay wine, honey, and a whole slew of tropical fruit juices, is the kind of thing you’d come up with only in an expanded mental state. Throughout my childhood, my dad kept a bottle of Inner Beauty in our fridge door at all times, so I was saddened to hear that the sauce was being discontinued.
Thankfully, Todd’s Salsa, out of Bangor, Maine, decided to revive the sauce a few years back. The first taste I had of that distinctly mustardy, tropical flavor was an immediate punch in the mouth that sent me back in time to those early, formative years of hot sauce tasting. It’s exactly as I remember, and just as glorious. This stuff really shines on grilled seafood, but it’s a great all-purpose sauce you’ll want to keep in your fridge door, just like my dad did.

Thick And Flavorful: Chiporro Sauce Co Rocoto Hot
Heat level: Moderate, building heat
Flavor: This hot sauce from Colorado is made with distinctively flavored Peruvian rocoto chilies. Creamy and thick, it has a good amount of tomato in the base, which comes through almost like a South Americanthemed arrabbiata sauce. This one’s perfect for coating grilled chicken or vegetables.
Da Bomb The Final Answer
Heat Level: 1.5 million SHUs
Da Bomb also makes a sauce called Beyond Insanity, yet this one is hotter. To attempt the Final Answer one must fly past insanity then keep going. More than just an extract, this one includes habaneros, spices and apricot nectar along with the pure pepper heat. But at one and a half million Scovilles, drip it on with a steady, cautious hand. Mad Dog 357 No 9 Plutonium
There is no way in hot and fiery hell theres a human alive on this planet who can take the heat of Mad Dog 357 No. 9 Plutonium. But still, plenty of thrill-seekers are willing to try. With a record 9 million SHUs, Mad Dog 357 No. 9 Plutonium is like eating an actual piece of Dantes Inferno. As in, it will burn and you will be admitted to the hospital.
Dont believe us? The actual hot sauce itself comes with a warning to sparingly add it to your food. Literally, its not to be consumed directly and should be only added to food for taste in teeny-tiny drips and drabs. Its that serious.
A Word Of Warning About Working With Hot Peppers:
Lets stay safe here when working with hot peppers. So even when youre working with mild hot peppers like poblanos and jalapeños, its important to:
- Wear gloves while handling and cutting.
- Wash hands extremely well after handling.
- Wear goggles and work in a well-ventilated area .
- Wash all cutting boards, knives, and utensils well after preparing.

Dance Party: Matouk’s Calypso Sauce
Heat level: Moderate to hot
Flavor: Tasting this ketchup-thick hot sauce for the first time, you’d swear that there was tropical fruit in it. But nope, that’s just the fruity pickled Scotch bonnet peppers you’re tasting. There’s garlic, mustard, and celery seed in the bottle, too, but there must be some kind of magic going on to make the flavors of mangoes and pineapples appear where they aren’t. In any case, it’s darned delicious on eggs and sandwiches.
Yais Thai Ginger Lime
Thai food has a habit of bringing the heat, as any spice-challenged person who has ever decided to live on the wild side and order their pad kee mao medium can likely attest. That makes choosing a solid Thai-style sauce — even the “mild” ones — at the store a little daunting. Yais does bring a bit of heat, thanks to its infusion of jalapeños and serrannos, but theyre expertly balanced with a dose of lime, cilantro, and that kick of ginger, which really makes you feel like youre eating something much hotter than you are until the heat immediately subsides. With this in your arsenal, you can feel free to sample all the sweet chili sauces you want, knowing that youve still got a little extra flavor laying around when you inevitably have to chug a half gallon of milk.

The Best Hot Ones Sauces: In Conclusion
Im already hearing the following:
- This list sucks! How could you leave out ?
- If it werent for , you wouldnt even like hot sauce! It deserves a place on this list!
- is the best ever how did you put on and leave out ?!
With over 100 unique sauces that have appeared throughout the 16 seasons, theres no way Im going to make everyone happy.
Remember, this is just my opinion.
The margins to make the Top 16, to the Top Six Out, to the dozen or so sauces that just missed that list were razor thin.
I had more agony than I thought when I first conceived putting this together.
One sauce I think all fans of the show can agree on is that any best Hot Ones sauces list will never include Da Bomb.
My personal tastes are pretty obvious with my choices: For the most part, I like for mild and medium heat-level sauces that are versatile in their uses.
Another analysis I took is I think its evident that the hot sauce lineups in the later seasons have been stronger overall.
Only the best make the show and Im glad Im not the one who has to make those choices.
I started this blog in April 2020 and it took me seven months before I was comfortable putting together my first list and it has changed several times with the new seasons that have been added since that time.
Im very thankful that a show like Hot Ones exists. It has given many small craft hot sauce makers a shot at the big time.

Fat Cat Strawberry Serrano Hot Sauce
When you think hot sauce, you may not immediately think strawberries, but this strawberry serrano blend is the perfect addition to ice cream and savory dishes alike. Adding any fruit-based hot sauce to any dessert is unexpected and also amazing, Seabury says. Its such a mind warp. Your body/mind doesnt expect the heat eating your favorite after-dinner treat. But once you try it you can never go back. It also makes for a fabulous dipping sauce for things like spring rolls.
Mikes Hot Honey
Theres a reason why this honey infused with chiles has gained somewhat of a cult following over the years: Its the perfect blend of sweetness and heat, and can be used to jazz up everything from pizza to salads to ice cream to cocktails. Grocery Store Hot Sauces Ranked Worst To Best
The invention of hot sauce is credited to the ancient Aztecs, who cultivated chili peppers to add some flavor and nutritional value to their limited food choices. By the time the conquistadors arrived, the Aztecs were already mixing peppers, herbs, and water into sauces and serving them on ancient versions of the corn tortilla.
Fast forward several hundred years, and hot sauce has spread from its birthplace in Central America to North America, Europe, Asia, and outer space. Walk into your average grocery store, and you’ll be confronted with a dazzling array of hot sauce bottles filled with liquids in red, green, yellow, and orange. Different brands come with different types of peppers, ingredients, spice levels, and suggested food pairingsand not all are created equal.
To help you find a spicy sauce worthy of drenching over your eggs, bloody marys, pizza, tacos, hot pockets, Chinese takeout, girlfriend’s cooking, and more, we’ve ranked grocery store hot sauces from worst to best:

The Fermentation Of Homemade Hot Sauce:
Dont get scared away from the idea of fermenting peppers to make hot sauce! Fermentation is a big word, but luckily chilies are some of the easiest foods to ferment.
Both the heat of the chilies, the salt, and garlic that are added to the mix help prevent unwanted bacteria from growing, while the naturally occurring good bacteria on the produce itself is able to culture.
Fermenting the peppers helps the flavor develop and helps preserve the hot sauce. I dont do a long fully fermented version of this hot sauce, where the pepper mash made in the first step is submerged fully in brine and left to ferment for 1-2 weeks .
But we get a bit of fermentation going and then let it at room temperature.
Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce
Spice rating: Tame
The Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce, which was engineered in New Iberia, is tasty enough. As in, itll do in a pinch. But were knocking the Louisiana Brand down a few pegs because of its high sodium content. With a blood pressure-hiking 240 milligrams of sodium, Louisiana has the highest sodium level of any commercial hot sauce. Beyond the staggering amount of salt, Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce is made from relatively harmless ingredients like aged peppers and distilled vinegar.
The original Louisiana Hot Sauce is fairly tame. If youre after something a little bolder, the Louisiana Brand also puts out some more fiery options like the red chili, habanero, and aptly named Hotter Than Hot sauces. For a bit of flavor variety, theres also the Louisiana Brand chipotle, roasted garlic, roasted pepper, jalapeño, and Sweat Heat with Honey.

Secret Aardvark Habanero Hot Sauce
Billed as a Tex-Mex and Caribbean hybrid, this sauce has a base of habaneros and roasted tomatoes, but the flavor is rounded out with mustard, turmeric, “spices,” and…I don’t know…magic? Advocates of the Aardvark say it goes well with anything: burgers, eggs, pizza, etc. Suzanne on Amazon called it “Incredible! Really yummy, smokey, with a hint of citrus flavor.” Made in Portland, Oregon, it’s become nearly as ubiquitous on restaurant tables there as ketchup.
Dave’s Gourmet Crazy Caribbean Hot Sauce
This spicy sauce is definitely on fire, thanks to a generous dose of Puerto Rican red habaneros. The secret ingredientcarrotsadds a bit of sweetness and earthiness to the flavor profile. One Amazon reviewer said that the price is a steal since one bottle contains “more hot sauce than one person would ever be able to use in a lifetime.” Challenge accepted.
