Is Popcorn Whole30 Compliant
Is popcorn permissible on the Whole30 diet? No, popcorn is produced from a whole grain , and grains are not allowed on the Whole30 diet since they are considered unhealthy. Everything on this list is devoid of added sugars and Whole30-compliant, so stock up and start working toward that 30-day goal.
Whole30 Approved Vs Whole30 Compatible
Now you might have wondered, whats the difference between Whole30 Approved and Whole30 compatible ? Well, youre not alone! The terms are often used interchangeably, but they actually indicate different things!
- Whole30 Approved: This means the product is made using Whole30 compatible ingredients and that the company and product itself has the seal of approval from the Whole30 team. The company has met the rigorous standards set by Whole30 HQ. Youll usually see the Whole30 Approved label right on the packaging, making the job of finding items that work for you a whole lot easier!
- Whole30 Compatible . This term means that the product is in the spirit of the Whole30 program, and that the ingredients are all compatible. However, the product and/or company does not have the official seal of approval from Whole30 HQ. That could be for a variety of reasons, but youll need to do your own research into the company, its practices, and the products they make if thats important to you.

Do I Have To Use Franks Hot Sauce
While you technically dont have to use Franks RedHot, it is my favorite to use. It already has vinegar, cayenne peppers, and the perfect amount of spice in my opinion. Rumor has it, it was the original hot pepper sauce that was the secret ingredient used in the original Buffalo wings created in Buffalo, NY in 1964. Its also naturally Whole30 approved!
If you have another hot sauce you enjoy, feel free to use that. It might alter the flavor a little though.

Why We Love It
My husband grew up near Buffalo, NY, and hes eaten at the famous Anchor Bar too many times to count. These two things, he thinks, qualify him as an expert on all things Buffalo.
Chief among those things? Buffalo Sauce. Well, it seems like I mustve learned a thing or two from him over the years, because this homemade Buffalo Sauce recipe gets 5/5 stars from him! He tasted the sauce and said, Wow!
Buffalo Sauce is both spicy and buttery, and its pretty much the best thing of all time. This recipe is made in just a couple of minutes, and its Whole30, Paleo, and Keto friendly, plus lactose friendly, too! Youve GOT to try it!
I should also mention that hed probably be mad at me if I didnt say, Go Bills! at some point in this post, so here it is. GO BILLS! Okay, now back to the recipe.
Crispy Buffalo Chicken Wings
Sharing is caring!
These crispy buffalo chicken wings are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, flavorful and spicy. My partner jokes that they are copycat sports bar wings, yet they are whole30 and paleo friendly. These wings only require 10 minutes of hands on time. We like to make them in place of take out on the weekends. These healthy chicken wings make the perfect meal and snack.

What Is Buffalo Sauce Made Of
Buffalo sauce is actually a mixture of hot sauce, butter, spices, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. By combining everything together, it creates a thicker and richer sauce than regular hot sauce.
While you can buy buffalo sauce at the store, its usually the best fresh, like covered in wings from your favorite local restaurant haha. I also find that store bought ones are usually loaded with a bunch of junk canola oil, thickeners, and natural butter flavor to name a few. So I figured lets just make it at home!
To keep our homemade buffalo sauce recipe Whole30 approved, I swapped out the butter for ghee, omitted the Worcestershire sauce , and used lemon juice for some acidity. It is rich and buttery, has a good kick to it, and the lemon helps balance it all out. And it tastes like your favorite restaurants buffalo wings sauce!
Ingredient Watch List For Compliant Hot Sauce
There are plenty of compliant hot sauce brands out there , but of course youll still need to check those ingredients!
Here are specific ingredients to avoid that weve found are common hot sauces, as well as ingredients that you dont need to stress over.
Avoid: sugar, corn starch, sulfate (sulfur dioxide, sodium bisulfite, potassium metabisulfite, soy lecithin.
OK: red pepper, salt, vinegar, xantham gum , guar gum.

What Do I Need To Make These Crispy Buffalo Chicken Wings
- 1 pound chicken wings-I like the frozen one from Trader Joes. I keep at least 3 or 4 bags in my freezer all of the time. They are perfect for meals that do not require a lot of hands on time.
- Sea salt & olive oil cooking spray-This is what keeps the wings nice and crispy while cooking.
For the buffalo sauce:
- Hot sauce-This is the base for the buffalo sauce. See below about the store bought paleo buffalo sauce.
- Ghee-This is what makes the sauce nice and smooth.
- Onion & garlic powder-Add even more flavor to this whole30 buffalo sauce.
- We love to use fresh dill and green onions.
For The Ranch:
- Check out my dressing recipe here or see below on the store bought brand I like.
What’s In The Whole30 Secret Sauce
Described by the brand as a “kind of magic that’s good on everything,” the Whole30 secret sauce can be used, virtually, on everything. And it seems that everyone who has been lucky enough to get their hands on this sauce agrees.
“Everyone in our house loves this sauce, even our 8-year olds! We fight for the last drop,” says Terra M. in a product review. “My daughter loves this so much, I am giving her some for her Birthday,” added Lisa in a website product review.
While the brand may not be revealing what’s in the Secret Sauce , all this noise has made it hard for people to resist making their own. Now, there are tons of copycat recipes out there and, these all look like very healthy versions of that glorious Big Mac sauce. Blogger Whole Kitchen Sink, for instance, makes her secret sauce recipe with Whole30 compliant mayo, no-sugar-added ketchup, and a blend of other spices and ingredients.
Even better news? The Whole30 secret sauce is gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free. Bottles start at $7.99 and are available in bulk, too. So if you don’t want to make your own, Whole30 anticipates the magic elixir will be back in stock this September.

How To Make Air Fryer Chicken Wings With Buffalo Sauce:
So these really couldnt be easier. There is not much prep involved in getting these ready to devour. You will need to gather up the ingredients:
- 2 lbs of chicken wings
- Oil spray like avocado oil or olive oil
- Butter or ghee
- Buffalo hot sauce
We start off by just placing the wings in the air fryer basket and cook at 380 for 20 minutes. I also pause about halfway to give the wings a little shake, and maybe flip over with tongs. Bump up the temperature to 400, and then cook another 10-15 minutes until nice and crispy.
During those last few minutes of cooking, you will melt the butter or ghee, and then combine with the buffalo hot sauce.
After the wings are done cooking, place in a large bowl and simply coat with the butter buffalo sauce. Place on a serving dish or plate, and dip into your favorite sauce! I actually prefer to dip into more buffalo sauce , but you can also dip into ranch dressing.

A Couple Of Air Fryer Method Notes:
Depending on the size of your air fryer and the amount of chicken you are cooking, you may need to make this recipe in two batches.
If you are trying to cut down on the amount of oil you are using, you can use a half a tablespoon of oil for this recipe instead of the full tablespoon. I would still use a little bit of oil to ensure ultimate crispy-ness but chicken wings have a lot of natural fat so using a little less oil will still work!

- Hot sauce I use Franks hot sauce but you could use any vegan hot sauce that you like.
- Vinegar I use apple cider vinegar but white vinegar or coconut vinegar would also be great options.
