Chicken Alfredo might seem like an indulgence that you can only order in a restaurant, but it’s easy to make at home. Start by cooking fettuccine and seasoning chicken breasts. Then sauté the chicken breasts until they’re golden brown and slice them into strips. To make the sauce, cook garlic with cream, butter, and Parmesan cheese until it thickens. Toss the pasta with the sauce and serve the chicken strips on top. Garnish the chicken Alfredo with freshly chopped parsley and enjoy!

    • Alfredo Pasta: Fettuccine Alfredo is obviously the most famous option here, but any shape of pasta will do. To make traditional fettuccine Alfredo, cook 1 pound of fettuccine until al dente, drain, then toss with the Alfredo sauce until combined. Feel free to add in cooked proteins of your choice . And of course, veggies such as broccoli, mushrooms, asparagus and more are delicious additions too!
    • Homemade Pasta Option: Or, if you really want to kick your Alfredo pasta up a notch, try making it with homemade pasta! One batch of this sauce will pair perfectly with one batch of my favorite homemade pasta recipe.
  • Alfredo Pizza: Use this sauce in place of marinara pizza sauce.

    How To Make Alfredo Sauce:

    • The first step to making Alfredo is to warm your butter and cream in a large saucepan over low heat. You will let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
    • Next, you will whisk in your garlic and seasonings. Whisking constantly for about one minute just to let the garlic cook.
    • Lastly, you will add your parmesan cheese and stir just until the cheese has melted and your sauce is smooth.

Note that it is best to use freshly grated parmesan cheese right off of the block so that your sauce isn’t grainy. I do not recommend using the “shaker” style container grated cheese for this recipe.

The Parmesan will thicken this sauce up. If it isn’t quite thick enough, allow the sauce to stand for 2-3 minutes before serving.

How To Make Classic Chicken Alfredo Pasta: The Easiest Simplest Method

Chicken Alfredo pasta was my favorite fancy restaurant order as a kid luxe sauce clinging to fettuccine topped with crispy chicken. It was about as close to macaroni and cheese and chicken fingers as a 6-year-old could get at any good Italian-American restaurant. Perhaps this is why most takeout Alfredo falls short for me its too entwined in my own culinary memories. Or it could just be that the rich sauce gets too cold and clumpy while waiting for delivery.

Hellbent on enjoying my childhood favorite from the comfort of my own couch, I set out to recreate the Alfredo of my memory . Weve eschewed the authentic no cream Alfredo for a reliable take on this classic thats just as creamy, garlic-rich, and fun to slurp up as you remember.

    • Rotary Cheese Grater I like to use a rotary cheese grater but you could also use a handheld grater, box grater, or even a food processor.

    What Is In Italian Seasoning

    Easy Chicken Alfredo Recipe

Italian Seasoning is simply a blend of dried herbs which are typically used in Italian recipes. Store-bought blends vary from brand to brand. I use a classic blend that is a combination of basil, oregano, thyme, marjoram, rosemary, sage, and savory. You could also mix in some garlic powder, onion powder, and crushed red pepper flakes, but I prefer to add those to recipes separately so I can control the amounts.

How To Make Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo

Sometimes its hard to believe that such an iconic dish like chicken fettuccine alfredo could be so fast and easy. But it really only takes about 30 minutes, maybe 40 minutes the first time you try it. Or if you have children who like to torment each other in the background, that will definitely slow you down.

First we need to sear our chicken. Start by slicing your chicken in half horizontally into cutlets, like this:

Slice the chicken with a sharp knife and avoid sawing, which will shred your chicken not what we want.

Once you have your chicken sliced into cutlets, pat each one thoroughly with a paper towel to get it completely dry.

Rub it with salt, pepper, and a bit of smoked paprika. You dont have to add the paprika, but I love the subtle flavor it adds! It also adds nice color to the chicken.

Sear your chicken in super hot oil. Do not move it once its in the pan! This is how you get a nice brown sear.

When you flip the chicken, add in a little butter. This adds flavor to the chicken and helps it brown.

Remove the chicken and make the sauce in the same pan. Add in a whole lotta butter. This is not an apology. I mean, if you are on a diet, you probably just shouldnt make chicken alfredo.

Add in 5 cloves of garlic. You can add less if you are a wimp. Just kidding. But do not underestimate the power of garlic! Dont be afraid of it!

Heres how I like to smash each clove, peel, then mince.

    Alfredo Sauce Recipe Ingredients

Most Alfredo sauces are made with only Parmesan cheese, butter, cream, and salt. But we took the liberty of adding in some garlic and extra seasonings to make it that much more delicious. This is the only recipe you will ever need! Heres the breakdown:

    • Parmesan cheese: For optimal results, use real Parmigiano-Reggiano right off the block. Avoid those shaker-style containers or tubs filled with pre-shredded cheese. They dont melt properly, making your sauce grainy. And they simply dont taste nearly as good as fresh.
    • Butter: Either unsalted or salted work great. If using salted butter, I recommended omitting the additional salt until youve tasted the sauce and then add extra, if necessary.
    • Heavy Cream: We use heavy whipping cream for the ultimate indulgence. This will give you the creamiest, richest results. Go big or go home, right? You certainly can use regular heavy cream, though, and it will still be wonderful!
    • Garlic: We use a mix of garlic powder and fresh garlic, which we think is perfect. If you want a more subtle garlic flavor, you could cut back on one or the other.
    • Seasonings: Salt, pepper, and dried Italian seasoning. This trio of spices really takes the sauce up a level. Parmesan cheese is already salty, so were only adding in a touch more.
