Mykuali Penang White Curry Noodle

Moving over to Malaysia, MyKualis Penang White Curry Noodle is a heavy & thick dish thats actually almost more like a kitchen-style curry than a packaged ramen noodle. While this dark, beefy looking bowl packs a pretty decent amount of heat & also holds some great reviews online, it eventually starts to lose its appeal. The broth begins to thicken & turn into a somewhat grainy, almost sandy texture. The flavor however, remains delicious with a lovely emulsion of chili, shrimp, onion & garlic.

Samyang Stew Type Hot Chicken Flavor Ramen

This flavor is basically the original in a stew form. Theres good flavor but it has different noodles that still work well with the stew.

It does tend to get spicier as the noodles absorb the stew. This isnt bad but it felt odd to eat a Samyang ramen with soup. If you want to read more about this ramen, check out my full review!

Samyang Foods 2x Spicy Hek Buldak Bokkeummyun

Coming in right at the very top of the list, Samyangs double heat Hek Buldak Bokkeummyun. After seeing the popularity of their original fire noodles, Samyang decided to go one step further, doubling the Scoville units from 4,404 to an insane 8,808. Like Samyangs original Buldak Bokkeummyun, this one tastes like chicken soaked in scotch bonnets & ghost peppers, but again that flavor is quickly relinquished under the heat. All that accompanies are the seaweed & sesame seed sachets & of course that devlishly black flavoring sauce. Again though, amidst the blinding heat & sweat, theyve still somehow created an extremely moreish & tasty instant ramen. For the real heat lovers, this one hits the spot, because unlike many, it delivers a genuine level of heat that for most people will be far too hot to handle.

So there you have it.

Whether youre after a light spice, or a blow-your-head-off heat, there are countless different brands & flavors to explore when it comes to spicy instant ramen noodles.

The Ramen Rater says:A few years back, Nongshim decided to switch from foam bowls to plastic ones that were microwavable. Tips For Leveling Up Your Ramen

Instant ramen might come with dried veggies or meats as a topping, but sometimes this doesn’t feel like enough! Maybe you want some acid or some crunchadding texture, additional spices, or fresh ingredients can really help to make a bowl of noodles sing.

The most common additional topping you’ll see on ramen bowls are eggs. They can be softboiled for those who love the creamy, runny consistency of the yolk, or they can be hardboiled for more density. Then there’s also spring onionsadding just a sprig of it into the soup makes the ramen taste lighter and fresher. This same idea applies to the addition of lemon juice.

Other additions you can think about adding include sriracha or ginger, for just a bit more spice, and bean sprouts or crispy onions, for crunch. Any fresh vegetable can work, and succulent meats such as big chunks of pork or stewed beef could also pair well with ramen!

The other ones were spicy but they didnt last as long or cause as much pain as the 2x did. Drinking liquids only helped temporarily. The only way to get through it was to ride it out. Ive eaten some stuff that are even more spicy than this but it still gets me.

If you guys think you can handle your spice, you should definitely give the 2x spicy a try!

Which Samyang Is The Least Spicy

Out of the 10 flavors, I found that Samyangs Carbo Ramen was the least spicy. Although lacking in spice, its one of the best tasting flavors.

The Jjajang and Corn ramens are also not very spicy but theyre some of the worst additions to Samyangs lineup in my opinion. If you want to have a little bit more spice, the kimchi ramen is also a great flavor to try!

Ive heard of a light version which is supposed to be 40% less spicy than the original buldak ramen but I havent tried it personally. If youre interested, check it out on but its a bit pricey!

    Samyang Foods Mala Buldak Bokkeummyun

As just mentioned, Samyang pretty much dominates the spicy ramen noodles game. Their Mala sauce is a combination of sichuan peppercorn, chilli pepper & other Korean spices. Again, the sachet looks devilishly dark & youre left immediately questioning your sanity when cooking. Heat-wise, it is certainly a level or 2 up from the companys original Buldak Bokkeummyun . Again, its accompanied by seaweed & sesame seeds & all seems to be pretty much exactly the same until you bite into it! I would say that the two are of similar spiciness, but the difference being that with this one, the heat refuses to go away. Again you have been warned!

Cooking Tips For Spicy Ramen Recipe

    • Dont use the seasoning packet! We only want the ramen noodles, not the MSG seasoning packet it comes with. We will be seasoning the noodles ourselves with plenty of garlic, onion and ginger.
    • Shortcut aromatics: if you hadnt made it to the grocery store you may substitute the fresh aromatics with 1 teaspoon EACH onion powder, ground ginger, and garlic mixed directly into the sauce.
    • Cook ramen separately: dont be tempted to cook the noodles with the sauce. The need to be cooked separately in boiling water or the will cook unevenly.
    • Prevent noodles from sticking: if youre not ready to immediately use the cooked ramen, then toss the noodles in a drizzle of sesame oil to prevent them from sticking together. If you dont have sesame oil, use a neutral oil such as canola or vegetable oil.
    • Dont overcook the ramen: the ramen should be undercooked after you boil it in water because the ramen will continue to cook in the sauce. If you completely cook the ramen initially, it will become mushy in the sauce.
    • Customize heat: Spicy Ramen Noodles are meant to be spicy, but they dont have to be fiery hot. Start with 1 tablespoon Asian chili sauce and add more taste. Remember, you can always add more heat, but you cant take it away!

Sapporo Ichiban Japanese Style Noodles & Original Flavored Soup

Thats quite a name, but apparently Sanyo Foods felt it was necessary to spell things out for the American market. This instant ramen is made just like the others youve probably eaten, by cooking the curly noodles in hot water for three minutes and then adding the contents of the seasoning sachet.

You wind up with a more flavorful soup than you might have previously experienced when opening a package of ramen, with the blended taste of soy sauce, garlic, chicken broth and ginger creating a very tasty meal. Dont expect it to be healthier, though, since its loaded with salt and fat, as well as MSG and tBHQ.

    Paldo Volcano Curry Kkokkomyun

Theres something threatening yet somewhat exciting about pouring sauce packets that look like toxic black lava into your ramen noodle recipes. Paldos Volcano Curry Kkokkomyun follows this trend of menacing introductions. Right from the first few bites, this ramens chicken flavor is pretty much buried under the heat. Honestly like biting into a scotch bonnet. The sauce clings to the noodles well and creates a sticky, tangy texture, providing a seriously satisfyingly chewy bite, while ensuring the heat is truly inescapable. This one is absolutely true to its volcanic name.

    Preparing And Cooking The Noodles

    Instant Ramen Upgrade: Easy 30

    Tips for chewy noodles:

    • Since well be cooking down the noodles in the sauce later on, I like to slightly undercook my noodles.
    • You can cook your noodles around 2 minutes less than the package instructions or until they still have a good bite.
    • You can opt to run them through water after cooking to help stop the cooking but I like to add them directly to the sauce from cooking since this way the noodles can better absorb the flavours.
    • If youd like to add the noodles directly to the sauce, I suggest preparing everything beforehand and make sure the sauce is ready in the pan before you cook the noodles.

Throw In Some Kimchi For A Salty And Spicy Flavor

Kimchi is a traditional Korean side dish that’s usually made from pickled and fermented vegetables. Simply top your prepared bowl of ramen with some kimchi for a spicy and salty boost of flavor.

You should be able to find premade kimchi at the grocery store especially cabbage kimchi, which is the most common variety but a Korean supermarket will likely have more options.
