No, they are two different things. Jack Daniels BBQ sauce is a tomato-based sauce with a sweet and tangy profile. Jack Daniels sauce, now just known as TGI Fridays Whiskey Glaze, is the original sauce that made this line famous.
Spiked with relatively small amounts of Jack Daniels bourbon, both sauces are cooked long enough for all alcohol to be burned off and not leave an overpowering whiskey flavor. They are also fairly sweet, which makes them both appealing to a wide variety of diners.

How To Make It
There are really only 3 steps to making this dipping sauce .
Step 1 Peel the shallots and place them in a food processor with the pineapple rings and garlic cloves. Process until the onion has been chopped until it is approximately the size of grains of rice.
Step 2 Place the chopped onions and pineapple in a saucepan with the rest of the ingredients. Cover with a lid, bring to a boil, and then turn the heat down to a simmer. Leave for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and leave to simmer uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes until this mixture is thick and glossy.
Step 3 Allow the sauce to cool and then transfer to a clean sterilised jar. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. If you prefer a smoother sauce, blend with a stick-blender.

Variations Of This Recipe
- Non-roasted garlic personally, I find roasted garlic gives this sauce the best flavor, but if you really dont have time, or cant get good quality fresh garlic, the jars of pre-minced garlic will work. I would use between 1 and 1 1/2 Tbsp.
- Alcohol-free even though the vast majority of the alcohol is cooked off during the reduction process, I understand some of you may not be able to use alcohol. The good news is, you can simply omit it and replace it with an equal amount of water.
- Light brown sugar if you dont have dark brown sugar, light brown sugar will work just fine. The sauce may be a little bit lighter in color, but should still taste great. You could also add a drizzle of molasses to the sauce, which would mimic the molasses-y flavor of the dark brown sugar.
- Solution for sauce not thickening even though the sauce should reduce by about half during the simmering process, if you find its still too thin for your tastes, you can mix together 1 tsp of cornstarch with 1 1/2 tsp cold water, then stir that into the sauce as it simmers. Be aware though, like most sauces, as it cools, it will thicken a bit more.

Making Whiskey Glaze Ahead Of Time
As with most sauce or glaze recipes, you can absolutely make this recipe ahead of time. It will keep for up to a week in the refrigerator .
You can also prep it ahead by roasting the garlic, chopping the onion, measuring out the brown sugar, etc.
The biggest time saver when prepping ahead, is roasting the garlic. This can be done several days in advance, and saves about 40 to 50 minutes of time.
Which Bbq Sauce Compares Favorably To Jack Daniels
Similar to Jack Daniels, Wild Turkey requires little introduction because it is a standard in many public and private bars. Its barbecue branch is regarded as a genuine southern BBQ sauce. Tomato paste, corn syrup solids, vinegar, molasses, sugar, wild turkey bourbon, modified food starch, spice, salt, lemon juice, mustard flour, dehydrated onion, garlic, and sodium benzoate are some of the ingredients in it.

Which Jack Daniels Sauce Is Used At Tgi Fridays
This one is very similar to the one you will find at any of the many TGI Fridays across America.
For us up here in Canada where we dont have this restaurant chain but love the goodness of their sauce, you can now make it at home!
Barbecuing can be year-round even in our cold climate especially if you do the ribs as we do.
We like to cook the ribs slowly in the oven, 300F for 3 hours on a rack above a water bath covered tightly with foil. Here is the recipe on our BBQing With The Nolands site.
We cook them until they are almost falling off the bone then seasoned and slathered in sauce and finished on the BBQ. Delicious!! I find this glaze is best with ribs but you can also try it with chicken, turkey, salmon, steak, burgers, pork, or whatever you like.

Firstly you need to prepare the garlic. Preheat oven to 325F. Cut the top of the garlic head off, about 1/2. Cut the root end so that the garlic will sit flat. Remove the papery skin of the outer layers of skin from the garlic but leave enough so the cloves stay together.
Drizzle with olive oil and wrap in foil, place on a small casserole dish or baking pan. Bake it for 1 hour. Let it cool until you can handle then squeeze the sides and outcomes the garlic cloves. Then press it into a paste and set it aside.
Next to a medium pot over medium-high heat start to add the ingredients. Water, pineapple juice, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar go in. Bring the mixture to a boil stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to a simmer.

The Jack Daniels Grill Glaze is one of the most scrumptious sauces you will ever taste on just about any meat. Introduced in April of 1997, this glaze has become one of Fridays best-selling items. Put all the sauce ingredients into a saucepan and cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes or until the sauce coats the back of a spoon and stays in place if a finger is run through it. Shape the ground beef into patties weighing about of a pound each. Season liberally with kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

SomeOne started by reducing the brand name down to just Fridays, based on the fact that the meaning of TGI had become lost and confused over time. The new logo is inspired by the original Fridays signage from the 60s, and can also be reduced down to an F icon to be used when closer to the brand, onsite or online.
