How Close Was Our Copycat Kfc Coleslaw To The Original
After we first mixed the coleslaw, it wasn’t even close to the flavor of the KFC original. After a 24-hour rest in the fridge, though, it was pretty much spot-on. Using the food processor to chop up the cabbage and carrots was definitely critical to matching the texture of KFC coleslaw. We were pretty happy with the dressing, too. It was sweet just like KFC but it had a lightly tangy flavor that absolutely worked.
The coleslaw was great on its own as a side dish, but we also put it on pulled pork sandwiches and used it as a topping on fish tacos. This recipe definitely makes a ton of coleslaw , so you could halve it or get creative with the leftovers. Speaking of leftovers, KFC coleslaw stores super well. Just put it back in the bowl and cover it with plastic wrap, like you did for the resting step. It will only get better with time, so don’t be afraid to make the whole recipe.

Our version is perfectly creamy, sweet, tangy and vinegary all at once!
And with both protein-rich Greek yogurt and superhero cabbage â this slaw is delicious, yet also incredibly nutritious. Just the way I like it!
But still, it took quite a bit of tinkering to perfectly balance the ingredients so that this doesnât taste like Greek yogurt coleslaw, but instead like â¦ well â¦ like just-really-good coleslaw! The secrets in the dressing.
How To Make Creamy Coleslaw Dressing
The great thing about making your own coleslaw dressing is it only takes about 5 minutes and you only need a bowl and a whisk or fork. Super simple.
This recipe makes about 1¾ cups of coleslaw dressing which is plenty for 8-12 cups of coleslaw mix.
Combine all the ingredients in a medium size mixing bowl and whisk until combined.
Once the ingredients are well-incorporated, transfer the dressing to a sealable container, like a mason jar and store in the refrigerator for 3-5 days or pour it over your coleslaw mix and toss if you are making your coleslaw immediately.
I recommend using between ¼- cup of dressing per 4 cups of coleslaw mix for a lightly-dressed coleslaw or ¾-1 cup per 4 cups of coleslaw mix if you like a lot of dressing like I do.
I used this entire recipe for 8 cups of coleslaw mix and it was perfect for me.
If you want to add a special touch to your coleslaw, try adding in about 1 cup of pineapple tidbits to 8 cups of coleslaw mix. It’s absolutely delicious!
Refrigerate the coleslaw for at least 2 hours or overnight for the best flavor. Serve & Enjoy!

Our favorite coleslaw dressing is quick to make and calls for simple ingredients. Its creamy, flavorful, and fresh.
Mayonnaise is the base and makes the dressing creamy. When we have a batch in our fridge, we love to use homemade mayonnaise.
Apple cider vinegar adds a fresh and zesty note to the dressing. You can substitute other kinds of vinegar like red wine vinegar or champagne vinegar.
