Reddit Comments About World Market Hawaii’s Famous Huli
Huli huli is one of the things I miss most from when I lived on Oahu. There was always a guy parked up at North Shore with a big rotisserie grill trailer, selling whole chickens and rice on the side of the road. Wonderful stuff!I’ve never actually tried to make the sauce myself… I just order it.
Huli Huli sauce. Been there, done that. Would not have done it if I didn’t experience in Hawaii .

½ Teaspoon Smoked Paprika
1 Cup Hawaiian BBQ Sauce *
¼ Cup Pineapple Juice
Whisk together all the dry rub ingredients in a small bowl.
Remove the silver skin from the back of the pork ribs. Then moisten the ribs with the Huli Huli Sauce, about 1½ Tablespoons per side. Then liberally season the ribs with the dry rub. Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap and refrigerate over night.

Bring The Flavor Of A Luau Home With This Three
Its been more than a decade since I visited Hawaii, but Im still thinking about the food.
Fresh seafood served with a view of the ocean, juicy Maui Gold pineapples dusted with plum powder, POG juice at breakfast, a sandwich picnic on the road to Hana, banana bread from a roadside stand and kalua pork served at the Lahaina luau.
I can almost taste all those amazing dishes.
I know were return to Hawaii some day on vacation. But in the meantime, Ive been trying to capture the flavor of that memorable vacation at home.
This easy-to-make Hawaiian pork recipe pays tribute to the classic dish without all the work.
Kalua pork, or kalua pig, is traditionally served at Hawaiian luaus. The traditional method calls for cooking a whole pig in an underground oven. The pork is usually wrapped in ti and banana leaves and roasted over a hardwood fire for hours.
This make-at-home Hawaiian pork recipe calls for just three ingredients. The pork is wrapped in parchment and slow roasted in the oven. It produces a tender, flavorful entree that is wonderful served over rice, on a sandwich or even as a taco filling. Unlike many Hawaiian pork recipes, this one trades liquid smoke for Huli-Huli sauce, a gingery teriyaki-style marinade with a flavorful kick.

How To Grill Chicken Kebobs
Grilling chicken is one of the best, most delicious ways to bring flavor to the lean meat – but just like with our Perfect Grilled Chicken Breasts, Grilled Chicken Strips, and Grilled Chimichurri Chicken there are a couple tips to keep your chicken tender, juicy, and full of melt in your mouth flavor.
We’re sharing our tips for the absolute best Huli Huli chicken kabobs below:
- For the absolute most flavorful chicken, make a batch of sauce and divide it in half – marinade half your chicken in it overnight. Save the other half in a jar in the fridge to baste with while grilling. The more time you marinate, the more tender, juicy, and flavor packed your chicken will be!
- Soak bamboo skewers overnight for the absolute best results. Nothing should make you rush cooking chicken on the grill – especially burning wood skewers. Bamboo takes a while to soak up moisture, make sure you give it plenty of time to prevent burning.

How To Keep Kebobs From Burning
Bamboo skewers can burn when on the grill – but thankfully, all you have to do is properly soak them to help prevent this.
Bamboo is very slow to release moisture – but it is also slow to soak it up. You need to soak bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes, but preferably overnight, to prevent them from burning on the grill.
We like to just place skewers in a casserole or lasagna pan and fill it up with water and leave it on the counter so it’s ready for grilling the next day!
Toasted Coconut Lime Rice Pilaf
Pre-heat the oven to 350
In a medium-sized saucepan bring the Coconut Water, Stock, and Soy Sauce to a boil. Once the liquid is almost to a boil, melt the butter in a large pot over medium-low. Then toast the rice and orzo pasta until opaque and it smells nutty, about 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Carefully pour the boiling liquid into the toasted rice and stir in the lime juice, and garlic. Cover and simmer for 17-20 minutes.
Meanwhile add the slivered almonds and toasted coconut to a dry sheet pan in a single layer. Toast in the oven until golden brown, for 15-20 minutes, checking every so often and tossing for even browning.
Once the rice is cooked, fluff with a fork and allow it to sit for 2-3 minutes. Then toss in the chopped green onion, cilantro, lime zest, and the toasted coconut and slivered almonds.
