How To Make Chicken Teriyaki
Chicken teriyaki is super easy to make. The key is grilling the chicken at the right temperature and for the right amount of time. Follow these steps to nail it on your first try:
Note: You can also use an indoor grill, cast iron grill skillet or panini press. All of the above will give you those nice grill marks.
Hot tip: Check doneness by slicing each chicken piece to see if the juices run clear. You can also use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature is 165 °F. Since chicken thighs are quite thin, they shouldnt take more than 3-5 minutes per side.

Leave the meat with marinade inside the fridge for about one whole day. Then, place the meat strips on dehydrator trays for about six hours in a 160 Fahrenheit temperature. Quick & Easy Chicken Teriyaki Bowl
When I first started my little corner on the internet almost 4 years ago, I often shared easy dinners for families. To this date, a few of those are still the recipes that are heavily visited on this site. Its no wonder, no matter how many meals I make or how many recipes Ive added to my arsenal, sometimes Im still clueless of what to make for dinner.
Even folks that dont cook at home have a hard time choosing where to eat dinner at, so of course figuring out what to make is always going to be a never-ending question.
Luckily I do have a few recipes of my own that I keep in rotation when Im short on time. Recipes like my pan-fried tilapia, my baked boneless chicken, or goulash and garlic bread to name a few. One meal that my family always enjoys is this chicken teriyaki bowl. Its quick and easy, ready in 30 minutes or less, and its tasty and satisfying. Isnt that what we all love in a weeknight family meal?
Ive also used a few brands on teriyaki sauce, but I really enjoy the Soy Vay marinade and sauce. I like that it has sesame seeds in the sauce, but if you have another sauce you prefer then by all means use it!
What I really love about this meal is that my entire family enjoys it. My older boys love it, my husband gets seconds and sometimes thirds, and even the younger boys like it. I make the chicken and veggies in separate pans because my daughter is meatless, so she just used the rice and veggies with a bit of sauce and shes happy with that too.

For fish, its better to use cling film than zip lock since its more tender. Let the salmon meat stay in the fridge for around two hours, but the quickest is probably 20 minutes.
After marinating, your salmon is ready to cook. You can fry it for 2 minutes, you may also bake it or grill at your yard while chatting with friends.

Ingredients For Teriyaki Chicken
I love how simple, easy and delicious this chicken recipe is! Heres what youll need to make it at home:
- Chicken: read my next paragraph about all the different types of chicken you can use with this recipe!
- Soy Sauce, Rice Vinegar & Sesame Seed Oil: for making the homemade teriyaki sauce. Tamari sauce, another type of soy sauce, will also work well here.
- Garlic: use pressed or finely minced garlic for best results.
- Ginger: I like to use a premade ginger puree. You can also grate or puree some fresh ginger for a stronger flavor.
- Brown Sugar: for sweetening the sauce. You can also use honey, maple syrup or agave syrup for making the sauce.
- Cornstarch: for thickening the teriyaki sauce. You can also use arrowroot powder in place of the cornstarch.
- Sesame Seeds: to garnish the chicken. These are optional but I personally love to add this finishing touch!
Here’s What You Need To Make It
- Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
- Bell Pepper
- Teriyaki Marinade
If you’re a regular blog reader, then you know that this is my very favorite Teriyaki Sauce. I often recommend it in my recipes because it’s the best! I can easily pick up the Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce at Target , it’s a simple way to add flavor to a meal, and it’s so much thicker and richer than other similar sauces that I have tried.
The sauce is perfect for marinating grilled seafood, for flavoring a stir-fry, and for baking Chicken Teriyaki in the oven. Plus, it uses only quality ingredients — no preservatives and no additives…ever!

What Is The Best Teriyaki Sauce
Save yourself the stress and buy a tried-and-true bottled sauce. Trader Joes Soyaki Sauce or Soy Vays Veri Veri Teriyaki are amazing and similar in flavor. Both are sweet and salty, while also thick enough to stay coated on the chicken while cooking. Marinate your chicken for a minimum of 30 minutes. Overnight is preferred.
What Type Of Chicken Can I Use
For my video recipe, I used 4 large and juicy chicken breasts. This incredible chicken breast recipe can also be used with other cuts of chicken. Try this recipe with 6 bone-in or boneless chicken thighs 6 to 8 chicken drumsticks or even 18 to 20 chicken party wings. Whichever cut of chicken meat you use, the instructions will stay about the same. Pan-fry the thighs, drumsticks or party wings, then add the remaining sauce and finish in the oven. Make sure to temperature check the meat! It needs to reach 165F/74C no matter the cut of chicken!
