Rufus Teague Honey Sweet Bbq Sauce

According to the label, Rufus Teague made some barbecue sauce, put it in a jar, and shared it with his boys. It was so good, his boys pestered him until he made another batch. And from there, this sauce spread from Kansas City to the rest of the country. Give Rufus Teague Honey Sweet BBQ Sauce a taste and you too will be hankering for more once you run out.

Most barbecue sauces that try to incorporate honey are failures but this one is a home run. It has a sweet taste but the sweetness has depth due to the perfect mix of honey, brown sugar, white sugar, molasses, orange juice concentrate, and raisin paste. Its like an orchestra of heavenly nectar that everyone with a sweet tooth can enjoy.

The label also says Rufus Teague Honey Sweet BBQ Sauce is damn good. If two words were needed to describe this sauce, those were two wisely chosen words. Its impossible to disagree.

Sweet Baby Rays Barbecue Sauce The Pride Of Chicago Since 1985

Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce was first introduced to the nation when a local Chicago resident nicknamed Chef Larry entered his familys recipe in the Mike Rokyo Rib-Off, the countrys largest rib-centric barbecue competition. The sauce, seasoned and slow-cooked to perfection, was named in honor of Chef Larrys younger brother. Sweet Baby Rays beat out almost 700 other entrants in the competition and a legend was born.

Over 30 years later, Sweet Baby Rays sauce is still made with the same ingredients and still made in Chicago. While the company now features 40 different varieties, the original recipe is still their flagship sauce. The original Baby Rays BBQ sauce is an enduring backyard and ballpark staple and sold worldwide so everyone can experience the citys iconic creation.

How To Make Just Like Sweet Baby Rays Bbq Sauce:

  • Combine the ingredients: I like to add all the ingredients in a medium saucepan along with a big splash of water and whisk until smooth.
  • Bring to a boil: Place the saucepan over the stove and allow the sauce to start bubbling before you lower the heat and continue to let it simmer for 5-7 minutes. The longer you simmer, the thicker the sauce will be. Dont panic if it isnt super thickened by the end of the cooking time. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
  • Serve: Brush the prepared sauce on meats or poultry while youre grilling. Use as a sauce on my bbq chicken pizza or in dips and dressings!

This Is Sweet Baby Rays Most Underrated Bbq Sauce

Sweet Baby Rays Original BBQ Sauce Review

Americans like barbecue and all the sauces that make this meal so finger licking good. In 2019, 8.82 million Americans used at least 4 bottles of the sweet and savory sauce we brush on our barbecue meats as they grill . And among those brands we purchase, Sweet Baby Rays barbecue sauce consistently ranks on lists of best barbecue sauces. Just do an internet search and you will find that food sites like Delish, Taste of Home, and the Kitchn, to name a few, rank the original flavor among the best. And its easy to understand why.

Sweet Baby Rays barbecue sauce got its big break when it won a rib contest in the Midwest . After its fateful victory, the now-famous brand decided to go commercial and ultimately developed a suite of sauces, expanding from its classic original barbecue to variations that include a Hawaiian flavor, Sweet & Spicy, Maple, Hickory & Brown Sugar, and more. The sauces moniker is a hat tip to the creators little brother who was nicknamed Sweet Baby Ray, and aptly so. The collection of sauces range in flavor, but there is a definite sweetness to each. However, theres one Sweet Baby Rays barbecue sauce whose taste rises to the top, head and shoulders above the rest but never seems to get the love it deserves. In fact, this sauce is probably the most underrated in the Sweet Baby Ray collection. Which one is it?

    Sweet Baby Ray’s Story

In this short documentary, experience the story behind the origin and evolution of Sweet Baby Ray’s through the images and words of Dave Raymond . From a humbling childhood on the West side of Chicago to the sauce days up to present day at Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue in Wood Dale, which is the “Home of Sweet Baby Ray”… one of only two Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue restaurants in the world and the only one owned by Sweet Baby Ray himself and his nephew Duce Raymond.

The Founder Went On To Start Another Barbecue Business Under The Sweet Baby Rays Name

    Sweet Baby Ray

While Sweet Baby Ray the person may no longer be involved with Sweet Baby Rays the sauce, he still can capitalize on the name recognition. As part of the terms of the sale to Kens Foods, Raymond kept the rights to the Sweet Baby Rays name, and he used it to start a catering company and a restaurant.

In 2005, the same year of the sale, Raymond opened a barbecue restaurant in Wood Dale, just outside of Chicago. Then he purchased True Cuisine Catering in 2010 to go along with Sweet Baby Rays barbecue catering company. Duce Raymond, who is in business with Dave, added in his line of barbecue sauces: Duces Wild BBQ Sauces. Combined, the businesses are called SBR Events Group, Duce Raymond explained to Chi Thee Wed.

The old and new Sweet Baby Rays businesses are still deeply intertwined. SBR Events Group promotes its use of Sweet Baby Rays barbecue sauce along with Duces Wild BBQ Sauces. The restaurant in Wood Dale also has ten Sweet Baby Rays house barbecue sauces exclusive to the location. The restaurants website nods to Dave Raymonds former sauce business, though it leaves Larry, the original sauce recipe creator, out of it and instead mentions how Dave and his friend and partner Mike OBrien went on to build the most popular barbecue sauce brand in history.

    Hawaiian Meatballs With Rice Recipe

We love this recipe for easy Hawaiian Meatballs, its great for a fast weeknight meal, or it also works great as an appetizer. It doesnt get easier than three simple ingredients. If you plan to serve a big Hawaiian feast, this is a great protein option to serve buffet style, because your slow cooker or crock pot can keep it warm on the buffet. Some call these sweet and sour meatballs from the tangy sweet sauce.

Lets Talk Pineapple Fruit & Juice

The original Sweet Baby Rays and the copycat recipes contain pineapple juice. Pineapple juice has not been lab tested for FODMAPs.

Fresh oranges and freshly squeezed orange juice do not contain any FODMAPs according to Monash University .

On the app we can see that all of the commercially prepared orange juices do contain FODMAPs. Time and again we are shown and lab testing proves that processing can and usually does alter FODMAP content.

For this reason, I did not use commercially prepared pineapple juice as an ingredient in this recipe. Instead, I have puréed and strained fresh pineapple and calculated our serving size FODMAP load on what we know about fresh pineapple.

BTW fresh pineapple is low FODMAP in 1 cup amounts according to Monash University per serving, of course. FODMAP Friendly gives it a Pass at 150 g or 1 cup.

    Kinders Exxxtra Hot Bbq Sauce

As the XXX hints, Kinders EXXXtra Hot BBQ Sauce has hardcore heat. It cant be stressed enough that this sauce is very, very hot. After your first bite, youll be pleading for mercy within seconds. But then, just as quickly, the heat subsides enough for you to enjoy the truly wonderful blend of flavors simmering beneath the fire.

So many barbecue sauces that brag about being fiery hot only have one dimension and cant bring anything to the table beyond the overbearing heat. Kinders EXXXtra Hot BBQ Sauce is the exception. Yes, the crushed red peppers and the habanero peppers catch your attention but you will still be able to detect the brown sugar and hickory smoke. From fish tacos to hamburgers, this is the barbecue sauce to reach for when you want that kick.

Kinders history dates back to 1946 and three generations of family knowledge is used to create this spectacularly spicy yet balanced sauce.
