In a pot or braiser, add a couple tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Heat over medium/medium-high until just shimmering. Add chopped onions, garlic and finely grated carrots. Cook, stirring regularly for 5 minutes or so.
Now, add in crushed tomatoes and a little bit of water . Season with kosher salt and black pepper to your liking. Stir in dry oregano, paprika and fresh herbs . Bring this party to a boil briefly, then lower heat.
Cover and let the sauce simmer for 15 to 20 minutes . You should end up with a gorgeous sauce that is the perfect thickness. Add a bit of fresh basil or parsley if you have some left.
If you’re after the best tasting pasta, add your just cooked pasta to the sauce and cook for another 5 minutes or so to allow the pasta to absorb the flavors and goodness of the sauce!

This is a quick homemade pasta sauce recipe using tomatoes without onions.
If you wish to add onions, you can chop one large onion finely and saute it really well before adding the tomatoes or you can use onion powder to just add the flavor easily.
If you want the sauce to be more of a smooth texture, you can puree a couple of tomatoes and cook along with the tomato sauce that we are going to prepare from scratch.

What To Put In Spaghetti
Let me see, for a Filipino sweet-style spaghetti, you have to have onion, garlic, ground beef/pork, spaghetti sauce, whether store-bought or your own, banana ketchup, hotdogs and grated cheese as toppings. I dont usually add seasonings as this tastes good already but you can put a ground pepper and salt, some add dry bay leaves.
While waiting on your noodles to cook, take your ground beef and cook it until brown. While you are browning the meat, take the McCormick spaghetti seasoning and sprinkle half of it on the meat leave the other half for later.

What Vegetables Can You Put In Your Homemade Spaghetti Sauce
I dont put anything other than garlic and onion in for the sauce if I am making it to can or freeze. But when I whip up a dinner with it I will often add carrots, zucchini, and mushrooms.
That is my favorite combination.
But the nice thing about this sauce is it is super versatile, so add or subtract what you like in your spaghetti sauce.
That might be ground beef or sausage . It might be eggplant. What do you prefer?

When I tell people about caramelizing anything, it is just to walk away and allow the ingredients to caramelize.
Make Ahead And Freezing Instructions:
To make ahead: You can prepare million dollar spaghetti 1 day ahead of time. Follow recipe instructions up to step 8 . allow it to cool, cover it well with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator until ready to bake.
To freeze: Prepare recipe right up until the baking step. Cover well with greased aluminum foil and freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to eat, thaw in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days, then bake for about 20 minutes covered and then 15-20 minutes uncovered. If baking from frozen, bake covered for about 40 minutes, then uncover and bake 20-30 minutes longer, or until bubbly and warm.

This sauce is heavy on the seasoning. I hadnt really made sauce very much before coming across this recipe from ourpaleolife.com but when I first read it I couldnt believe the amount of seasoning.

Can I Freeze Spaghetti Sauce
Yes! I love making a double batch of homemade sauces and freezing the other portion. You can use a gallon Ziplock bag or even a Foodsaver to vacuum seal the sauce. I freeze in 1 to 2 cup increments and lay the bag flat in the freeze. Laying the sauce flat makes it thaw quicker, and it doesn’t take up much room in the freezer.
To thaw the sauce, just place the bag into a pot of cold water, and it should thaw within 20-30 minutes.

Spicy Spaghetti Seasoning Recipe

Please note: you can freeze basil and dill, but we recommend that you freeze only the leaves.
To keep mint, rosemary, and thyme longer, it is better to dry them, not to freeze them. Its not complicated: preheat your oven to 50 ° C, place your aromatic herbs on a baking sheet and dry your herbs in the oven for 1h30 to 2h. Then store them in a paper bag.
