Variations Of Fry Sauce:

French Fry Dipping Sauce and Everything Seasoning Dipping Sauce Recipes!!

Mix and match ingredients to have endless amounts of sauces for your fries and burgers. Try it with a little more heat or add in some fun juices for a sweet and tangy fry sauce.

Here are a few ideas to get started on trying:

  • Mayonnaise: It is best to enjoy the thick, rich texture of real mayonnaise but substitute it for miracle whip or a veganiese mayo for a preferred taste.
  • Spices: Black pepper, garlic powder or garlic salt are great ways to add in a strong flavoring. Just start with a dash and continue to add it as you go for the flavor you are hoping for.
  • Heat: Make this as hot and spicy as you would like. Tabasco sauce, hot sauce or some red pepper flakes are great ways to bring on some extra heat.
  • Juices: If you are not a fan of pickle juice try apple cider vinegar, lemon juice or even horseradish to give your mouth a kick of tanginess.

What Is Fry Sauce Where Was It Made

Fry sauce is just as the name suggests – a sauce that goes hand-in-hand with french fries. In its most basic form, it is a simple combination of two parts mayo to one part ketchup, along with a few variations on vinegar and spices.

According to this article on the history of fry sauce, it was credited in the 1940s by Chef Don Carlos Edwards in Salt Lake City, Utah. However, history also shows that it was first created in the mid-1920s in eastern Argentina under the name salsa golf .

You can find many store-ready brands for Fry Sauce online or in stores, but it really just takes less than 5 minutes to make your own.

Cilantro-lime mayonnaise: One of my favorite restaurants serves a tangy, creamy sauce with their yucca fries. I was thrilled when I discovered the chef posted the recipe online!

Bacon mayonnaise: Try this dipping sauce on your cheat day. Simply mix some bacon bits with some mayonnaise.

Peanut sauce: Make a basic peanut sauce by blending 1/3 cup of chunky peanut butter, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of sriracha sauce, 1 teaspoon of brown sugar, and some chicken broth to thin it out.

Sriracha-mayonnaise: I use this sauce on everything not just French fries. Mix desired amount of sriracha sauce with mayonnaise, depending on how spicy you like it. Add a pinch of sugar, if desired.

Spicy ketchup: Adding sriracha sauce to ketchup totally changes the flavor. The heat level is pretty intense, so start by adding a few drops of sriracha and go from there.

Curry mayonnaise: Eating fries with this dip makes me feel like Im on vacation in India, sampling some exotic street food. Mix curry powder with mayonnaise and add a pinch of sugar to sweeten it up.

Curry-honey glaze: If you like a little sweet with your salty, try this dip: Mix a teaspoon of curry powder with 1/4 cup of honey.

American Fry Sauce Was Born In Salt Lake City

Idahoans take fry sauce pretty seriously, so it was quite humorous to me to learn that American fry sauce has a history that tracks its modern birth to Salt Lake City in the 1940s. To be sure, similar sauces exist throughout the world mayoketchup is Puerto Rican, salsa golf or salsa rosado is South American, and even the French cocktail sauce bears a striking resemblance to fry sauce but the American adaption is credited to the proprietor of Arctic Circle restaurants, Don Carlos Edwards. Edwards mixed up the condiment at his original Salt Lake City restaurant, Don Carlos Barbecue, by combining his white sauce with ketchup and serving it on everything from burgers to fries.

For Your Information

  • Since this sauce is based primarily on ketchup and mayonnaise, choose your favorite of each of these.
  • Fry sauce keeps well in the fridge for up to a week.

The Best French Fry Dipping Sauce

What if I were to tell you that the only reason to eat french fries is for the sauce?

That’s a bold statement, but I stand with it.

This is the BEST french fry dipping sauce that practically makes itself and requires five simple ingredients you probably already have in your pantry.

A mash-up of mayo and ketchup, along with a touch of vinegar and spices to amp up the flavor, my hubby can never get enough of this sauce. Sometimes I have to hide it in the back of the fridge just to prevent him from eating the whole jar!

It hits all the right marks – sweet, tangy, creamy, and somewhat spicy – it’s seriously addicting.

My family and I love to enjoy it with fries and burgers, but it’s so versatile, you can pair it with quesadillas, tacos, chicken, even veggies. And it’s totally OK to lick it right off the spoon!

I Cant Live Without Fry Sauce In My Life

These days, I dont eat french fries or burgers without my beloved fry sauce. Its not quite as simple as my parents version of equal parts ketchup and mayo, but its 10o times better and I can not get enough of it. My kids are pretty leary of it, but the husband and I gobble it down like its going out of style. Circle of life and all that.

This stuff is perfect for dipping your fries in, but its so freakin amazing on burgers. If we get drive through , I order my burger plain, because no mixture of ketchup and mustard can compare to dipping your burger in fry sauce. Its slightly sweet, totally creamy, with just a hint of tang from the vinegar.

    Cant stop, wont stop.

We recently moved to Nebraska and they have a Freddys restaurant there. Have you ever been? Their burgers are simply amazing! But the best part? They have a big ol vat of fry sauce. This is the first restaurant Ive been to that served fry sauce. I think its more popular the further west you get, so Im a little excited about our move to Nebraska now! We might not find much sweet tea, but we have fry sauce! And cinnamon rollsseriously, Nebraska. WHAT is your deal with cinnamon rolls? Theyre everywhere!

Anyway, my fry sauce recipe is super similar to Freddys, so if youre looking for a Freddys copycat recipe, give this one a try! Youre going to love it!
