  • Parsley: I love adding a bit of parsley to my garlic butter because it brighten both the flavor nad the color!
  • Garlic cloves: Well grate the garlic and create garlic butter to toss the wings in.
  • Butter: melted butter, garlic, and parsley and zapped together in the microwave and well toss the wings in this right when theyre hot out of the oven.
  • Parmesan: grated parmesan works best for this recipe, well sprinkle this on top of the wings right before serving.

Tips For Crispy Baked Wings:

Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce

You want that deep fried crispy texture so make sure to follow these easy tips for the perfect crispy wings:

  • Dry the Wings: I like to pat a paper towel on wings to absorb any extra liquid. I find the better you dry the wings the more crispy they become.
  • Toss in Corn Starch: The cornstarch will naturally absorb liquid, but hopefully your wings are dry that the cornstarch will coat the wings and still have a nice white coat on them.
  • Oven Temperature: 400 Degrees. A nice hot oven makes a difference. Let your oven preheat before baking for the perfect golden brown.
  • Cookie Sheet or Baking Rack: Cook on Baking Sheet or Baking Rack. I like to line cookie sheet with parchment paper for easy clean up.
  • Dont Over Crowd: Leave space in between each wing. This allows heat to reach everywhere and makes for the best crispy baked chicken wings.

  • When I make these the cheese added to the oil to make the sauce always crisps up rather than melts. How can I avoid this?

  • KristaReply

Well, it shouldnt crisp up but it also wont completely melt. The butter will melt and the grated parmesan will leave a gritty type consistency to the sauce so that when you toss it with the baked chicken wings it will stick. Hope that helps.

  • MikeReply

I made these last weekend, I sprinkled with a little bit of fresh sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Put into a vacuum bag, sous vide for 6 hours at 155°. Cooked in the oven until golden brown, partially falling off the bone. Thru them into a bowl with your sauce. Everyone was absolutely amazed that they were homemade. Thank you for sharing. We are making them again for a different group of friends.

  • YAASSS!! I totally agree! These wings never get old! So crisp and full of flavor!

Hey Christy, did you buy regular chicken wing drummttes and wingettes or the larger chicken legs? That would make a big difference in cook time. As far as the sauce, Im not sure it would translate the same if halved. Im sorry it came out not the best for you. Better luck on time two because it is one of my favorites.

    Make The Garlic Parmesan Sauce

The key to the most ridiculously tasty garlic parmesan wings is the sauce.

To make, melt unsalted butter in a saucepan. Stir in finely chopped garlic and garlic powder. At this point, your kitchen will start to smell amazing!

Let the mixture simmer for 5 to 7 minutes to give the sauce more flavor. Then, add the cheese and give it a quick stir.

Voila! Your amazing sauce is done.

    Ingredients In Garlic Parmesan Wings

    • Chicken Wings – this recipe uses bone-in chicken wings, but you could also use a mixture of wings and drumettes.
    • Oil – we like to use avocado oil, but you could substitute it with canola, vegetable, or olive oil.
    • Salt and Pepper – add to taste.
    • Garlic – here you can use either garlic powder or finely minced fresh garlic.

    Wing Sauce

    • Butter – this should be melted.
    • Garlic Powder – we like to use powdered garlic rather than minced since it has a nice sweetness to it, whereas the raw garlic can be a little more abrasive.
    • Parmesan Cheese – you want to use finely grated Parmesan cheese. In fact, the cheese from the can will actually work just fine in this case!
    • Red Pepper Flakes – you can add a little more or less, depending on your heat preference.
    • Parsley – fresh chopped parsley adds such a nice freshness to round out all of the flavors in these wings.

    • Parmesan Cheese

Before we get into how to make the actual sauce, it is important to discuss the ingredients first. As for the butter, you can use salted, unsalted, or any non-dairy butter for this recipe.

I prefer to use unsalted butter, as the Parmesan cheese will naturally add a bit of salty flavor to the sauce. However the choice is up to you.

Next you need to determine if you want to use garlic powder or fresh garlic cloves. I always have fresh garlic on hand because I grow it in my garden. Therefore, I most often choose to add minced garlic to the butter rather than garlic powder.

However, I understand that many individuals often have garlic powder in their kitchen instead. So I have included how to make this Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce with both garlic powder and fresh garlic. Just be aware that the cooking time varies just slightly and the instructions are included in the recipe card below.

Now finally, lets talk about Parmesan cheese. This will be the only time that I prefer to use the grated Parmesan cheese in the shaker that you buy at the grocery store.

Typically I grate a block of Parmesan cheese with my micrograter/zester. However, for this recipe you want the Parmesan cheese to be grated into fine crumbles. Therefore, I use store bought grated cheese instead.

    Instructions

When you are ready to serve, sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top of the wings.

    If using fresh garlic cloves:

How To Make Extra Crispy Wings

  • Prep first. Start by preheating the oven and lining a large rimmed baking sheet with foil. Youll also want to set a wire rack on top of the baking sheet, and spry the wire rack with cooking spray to keep the wings from sticking.
  • Season the wings and bake. Youll want to thoroughly pat the wings dry before seasoning them. Combine the baking powder, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika in a small bowl. Sprinkle this seasoning evenly over both the skin side and the flesh side of the wings. At this point, if time permits, line the wings on the baking sheet and place in the fridge for at least 45 minutes and up to 24 hours in advance. If you dont have the time to refrigerate, you can let the wings sit for 10-15 minutes at room temperature or bake them immediately.
  • Make garlic butter topping. When the wings are almost done, add the butter, garlic, salt, and parsley to a bowl and zap in the microwave for 30-60 seconds until the butter melts. Place the wings in a bowl, pour the garlic butter over the wings and toss to coat them evenly. Then, sprinkle with the parmesan and continue to toss until all the wings are evenly coated. Plate and serve immediately.

The Turkish word for “turn/rotate” is “doner,” and a combo of roasted lamb on pita with tomato sauce, melted butter and yogurt heralded the birth of the “Doner Kebab,” still popular today. For some, the word “kebab” conjures images of meat chunks on a skewer but the term technically refers to grilled meats.
