How To Make Teriyaki Sauce | Gluten Free & Paleo | Rockin Robin

Most teriyaki sauce recipes are similar. The sauce is made from a mixture of soy sauce, mirin, sake, spices, sugar, garlic, vinegar, and sometimes ginger and green onion.

Mirin is a sweet Japanese rice wine, and sake is a fermented rice drink.

In Japan, these alcoholic beverages are key ingredients in teriyaki sauce. In the United States, though, they are often replaced with sugar and additives so that they can be sold at all food shops.

The sugary ingredients give teriyaki sauce the sweetness it is known for.

Sake is generally gluten-free. Pure mirin made with rice only is also gluten-free. However, some brands of mirin actually contain wheat, and that makes them not gluten-free.

With these considerations, teriyaki sauce is usually NOT gluten-free.

Primal Kitchen Classic Bbq Sauce

Primal Kitchen is hands down one of my favorite brands. I think Ive liked every product of theirs that Ive tried! Once again, BBQ sauce is notorious for having added sugars, but this one doesnt. The sweetness of the tomatoes comes through with the tang of apple cider vinegar. This one also serves as a great steak sauce.

This one is definitely close to recipes Id make myself and is great on my Air Fryer Chicken Wings or Air Fryer Chicken Tenders.

I also wanted to mention that Primal Kitchen makes a great gluten-free and soy-free teriyaki sauce! Grab a bottle of each of these and you wont regret it. I use this sauce in my recipe for Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken.

We start this recipe by blending up a handful of pantry staples: tamari for the salty, savory element, maple syrup for natural sweetness, rice vinegar for balance, ginger and garlic for zing, water to make it saucy, and cornstarch to thicken.

After blending, it becomes a foamy mixture. Thats totally normal and theres no need to worry, friends!

After transferring the foamy mixture to a saucepan and bringing it to a boil, the cornstarch starts thickening the liquid and the foam disappears.

Then cook for just 5-10 minutes more and youve got teriyaki sauce!

What Is The Shelf Life Of Soy Vay Teriyaki Sauce

Gluten Free Kikoman Teriyaki Sauce – Review

Teriyaki sauce has a shelf life of 12 to 18 months on average. Refrigerated teriyaki sauce leftovers usually hold their optimum quality until the printed date, or for at least a few months if opened close to or after the printed date.

Thats the standard case, although each brand has its own set of rules. San-J, for example, suggests using their sauces within one month for table use and three months for cooking. Alternatively, Toshis teriyaki should be consumed within three months of delivery.

The best-by date on the label, however, is merely an approximate estimate of how long the product will retain its quality. And, because teriyaki is a soy sauce-based flavor, it usually lasts a long time.
