Making The Spaghetti Sauce
The first step in making the sauce is browning the onions. Toss the diced onions in first and get them nice and translucent. Then toss in the first round of garlic. Do not burn the garlic, just sizzle it a bit to let it smell up the room. Then toss in the ground beef.
Brown the beef and drain off the excess fat. Set it aside if you wish to cook with it later. It makes a delicious cooking fat since it has the onion/garlic taste in it.
Toss in the rest of the ingredients , stirring as you go. The second garlic addition goes in now. Ill explain that in a bit. Stir everything together and set it to simmering. Itll seem a watery but itll thicken as it simmers.
After the simmer is finished and you are ready to serve, since in the chopped basil. This adds a layer of brightness to the sauce, but cooked basil as less awesome.

and yes, I know that Prego does make it incredibly easy, but hear me out.
I truly developed this recipe with you all in mind. There is zero chopping involved. zero.
All you have to do is open two cans and throw in some spices. Or do like me and make a gigantic batch to freeze for later by making a triple-batch.
After you have literally just dumped everything into the pan, just let it simmer for an hour. Maybe give it a stir here and there so it doesnt burn to the bottom, but its on low heat and will probably even be fine if you dont.
You can also throw it in the slow cooker on high for 2-3 hours if you dont want to fiddle with the occasional stir.

Oh, and this is so so so much cheaper than pregoand super tasty and customizable as well!
Serving Suggestions For Spaghetti Meat Sauce

- Melt butter with olive oil in a small skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir mushrooms in butter mixture until softened, 2 to 3 minutes. Add 1/4 cup red wine bring to a simmer, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook until the mushrooms are very dark and shrunken in size, about 20 minutes.
- Heat a large pot over medium heat. Cook and stir ground beef, yellow onion, diced tomatoes, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and garlic together until the beef is completely browned, about 10 minutes season with oregano, basil, and rosemary. Stir 3/4 cup red wine and tomato paste into the beef mixture. Pour spaghetti sauce into the pot stir. Return mixture to a simmer and continue cooking until the flavors blend, 10 to 30 minutes.
