When buying shrimp there are many different varieties. To me its hard to beat gulf shrimp but Carolina also has some fantastic shellfish. When buying shrimp youll see different classifications of size like jumbo, large or medium. This can be very misleading, look for numbers like 21/25 or 16/20. This refers to the number of shrimp it takes to weight out to a pound. Always remember the bigger the number, the smaller the shrimp.

You may also see numbers like U-10 or U-15 on the shrimp packaging. This just means that its a specific number of shrimp per pound. I recommend 16/20 for shrimp cocktail because its not to big and not to small. If you want to really be fancy grab yourself some U-10 shrimp and your guests will be very impressed but your wallet not so much. 21/25 is as small as I would recommend for shrimp cocktail anything smaller than that I would only use for salads and stir fry. How Many Carbs In Cocktail Sauce

The quantities in the recipe are enough for two snack lunches of about 376 calories each and only around 11g of carbs each if I calculate this manually using Nutrionix. The calories are pretty much all in the avocado, the prawn and the mayo.

Whether you are on a keto diet or not, this is a great starter for any gathering. Make it part of your weekly keto meal plan.

To get that light, yet crunchy texture, using a combination of Super fine almond flour, parmesan cheese and plain pork rinds. In this recipe, Smoked Paprika is added, to give it just a hint of smoky flavor.

Take chunks of fresh Parmesan cheese , and put them in the food processor until they are finely ground into crumbs. Then add in the pork rinds, almond flour and any seasonings and continue grinding till I have a fine well combined powder-like breading.

I skip the ketchup found in so many cocktail sauce recipes and use a combination of strained tomato sauce and tomato paste to get the right consistency and flavor. I found an Italian brand that comes packed in glass jars and contains just organic tomatoes for both the tomato sauce and the tomato paste.

Be sure to use a prepared horseradish that contains just horseradish and vinegar. I like to go pretty heavy on the horseradish, but you can always use less if you don’t like it as strong.

If you choose to use fresh horseradish root, I have a few tips on how to work with it. When picking your horseradish root, choose one that is firm throughout and doesnt have soft spots. Youll want to use your horseradish root soon after buying it to keep it fresh and to help it maintain its heat level! You can use a potato peeler to peel your horseradish root. I grate my horseradish root by hand using one of the larger grate options. An important thing to know is that horseradish roots vary on their heat level. Youll want to use your grated horseradish root and make your cocktail sauce right away. The longer the horseradish sauce sets out on its own, the hotter it tends to get!

    This prawn keto seafood sauce is so easy to make. All the ingredients I have in my pantry, and the sauce can be put together in a few minutes. Nothing fancy, no cooking involved, just mixing.

    You can use it to serve with other seafood as well like langoustines or crayfish if you have them available.

    The sauce is also nicely keto as most of the ingredients are keto-friendly. Horseradish, Hellmanns Real mayonnaise, and tabasco are all keto-friendly.

    Prawns or shrimp are also keto-friendly. Worcestershire sauce and tomato puree are slightly less so, but in these small quantities, needed for the taste profile, they should not upset your ketosis.

    But with the addition of the delicious Avocado fruit, containing loads of healthy monounsaturated fatty acids and fiber, this combination gives you a great keto meal. And certainly one you will want to repeat over and over, as who can resist this delicious meal?
